I would like to see in-round weather conditions affect the status of the course as you play it, ie if it rains for a few holes fairways and greens should soften up, stimp should reduce slightly etc until weather changes.

We were told early on that this would be added to the game but it never materialized. I also hope to see it in PG2.

like to see us create a player that could look like us somewhat and not just the clothes on a clone as it is now.
also get rid of the levels of play that people fight over . just have two levels novice or pro. make the meter a non-fixed unit. that can be moved to the eye level of play for 3 click players or a horizontal flat one at the bottom.

The ability to create custom swing animations (I know I’m dreaming big!!)
Crowds
The ole right click to cancel shot in mid flight when practicing as per links 2003
Save game configurations without constantly clicking through options every time you start

I am sure most of this has been posted and outside the obvious things like career mode, motion capture, etc.
1. Stats - all of them. By course, by condition, etc. Could simply model the PGA stats pages. Even without career mode, having stats tracked is something I used to follow with Links. Its fun to try to beat your course stats. Provide option to share stats, meaning have an online site where you could view your ranking by conditions with other plays.
2. Easier course selection with details on courses as you scroll - such as showing best score shot on course. etc.
3. More dynamic camera options. Ability to create your own cameras. And easier to walk around ball on green, with a quick toggle to kneel. That way you can look at a put from every direction.
4. Real time Overhead view - when you hit a shot, show the ball moving on the overhead so you get an idea of where ball is going.
5. Better handicapping and skill levels. This one is tricky. But, create an automatic handicaping system, based on your last "x" rounds.
6. Custom distance. Ability to set up your player to hit your distances allowing you to match you real life play. If I hit a pitching wedge 150 on average, allow me to set that as the average for a perfect 100% shot. With variability to go above or beyond.
7. Ball setup. This has been talked about a lot. I would rather remove the pitch and chip shot types. Or at least allow me to configure where in the stance these shot types setup. Thus creating more shot options. For example, if I hit my gap wedge 120. But I am 130 away from the pin. Allow me to move the ball back an inch from normal to get a little more yardage. But force me to adjust my aim. There are so many things that you could do to allow more control over your shot - adding a whole new skill level. This would be an advanced option and would require greater tempo control.
8. Adding to #7 - club and ball variability. Although, there is an argument that drivers today are all very similar. Shafts are not. Allow for more customization of clubs, shafts, and balls. With each having a real life impact. Play a Pro V1 vs a Pro V1x - penalize the Pro V1 shots that are more offline as the ball will spin more. But - also the ability to play with clubs from prior years. Want to go up against Jack in his day, play with his era clubs and their distances.
Just a few thoughts. But would be happy with anything. PG1 is fantastic. And I imagine PG2 will be even better. Q

I know it has been discussed, repeated and asked time and time again, but my PG2 wish list would be an update from time to time...
Any type of blurb, one-liner, I know an image would be way too much to ask for, but anything...
Even the forums are at an all time crawl.. well, what can you do?

At least I still have plenty of time to finish/polish my own courses, play them in the still respectable PG1, and remain hopeful that work is being done somewhere.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but a somewhat more open architecture that would allow user modification (and hopefully online sharing through websites, etc) of clothing, gear, other assets, where possible.
This of course would only be a sensible request if it's an area that 1st party is not going to tackle for whatever reason.
So many games have thrived for literally 10+ years beyond where one would have expected, solely riding on the work of community user modification and expansion.
I'd prefer great 1st party stuff - but if that's not in the cards, a way to have community mods of things beyond courses would be really really awesome.

Why don't they correct this game first, so we know that PG2 will not have any faults, then we won't be buying a white Elephant.

My guess would be is that the base code would take to much of a rewrite. I'm sure that's why they are doing a complete rewrite of the game is to correct what didn't work and give them a better base to add on too. Also the newer game engine will probably aid in what they can do.

I've been making heaps of height maps for a designer at OGT who's decided to get out of PG because of Skytrak support being dropped. So there goes a dozen potential courses. Combine that with the current state of the forums and my morale is pretty low.
At least I still have plenty of time to finish/polish my own courses, play them in the still respectable PG1, and remain hopeful that work is being done somewhere.
What are some of those heightmaps? Just curious.

He was particularly interested in Spain, so I have maps for Valderrama, Sotogrande, and a bunch of resort style courses (Alhama, El Prat, El Saler, El Valle etc.) He was ambitious and I didn't mind lidar hunting.
I also enjoyed the challenge of getting some German terrain data (massive amounts of downloading was required to get the small bits I needed) so I made Hubbelrath and Koln for him. I guess I could get to them one day but with three of my own to finish (and another 50-odd to start depending on where the game ends up) it could be a while...

Vaderrama, Hubbelrath and Köln would be very nice if somebody could take them on. Especially if Matthew Rose could do it.

Wish list, more penal rough please or at least have the option to choose easy, medium or difficult rough. Currently doing my home course which is a links. PC players will annihilate it. IRL the course has brutal rough and 10yds into the rough means a sideways hack or lost ball. In the game you can just lash a 3 wood often only losing a few yards and some spin. Severe penalties would make the player consider other clubs from the tee to avoid the rough (and possibly the lost ball or unplayable lie variable in PG2). If you had a spline with 90% distance penalty and sand wedge only with 50% chance of lost ball a designer could throw a few of these splines in the particularly bad areas. We’ve all seen British and US Opens where players take a couple of hacks to get a ball back in play.
I realize its not likely, but if they could patch PG1 and offer a "plugged lie" spline, it would do the trick. Meaning any ball that gets hit into it is a plugged lie.
