That WAS tough.
I had no chance of course. That 6th hole destroyed me all week. The ball was attracted to trouble. Every putt had a wild swing. And yet I had a ball. The round played out in exactly the same way as the real thing. This sim (with no-aids putting) is magnificent. It should be featured in eSports online. Who's in charge of this game? Let ME at it and it will be a worldwide phenomenon and make us multi-millions.
Finished 38th. $53,000

No-aids putting is great. There's no doubt PG greens are readable and great work at Bay Hill pgapro. 6 footers can be problematic but I've seen plenty of shorter putts from Pros missed.
Check these putts. To me the line is obvious. On fast greens I always take a bit more break. The philosophy is the ball dies towards the hole instead of running away from the hole.

Very nice round Dave. Excellent short game.

fourth round was a disaster, 100% fairways hit but could only manage 33% of greens and then had 38 putts, couldn't read a thing on the greens. Lots of double bogeys.
You could say I did a very good job of getting to the back of the field

Yeah. I had 35 putts. Hard greens were almost impossible to stop the ball. Pins were tough. But the real blokes had the same trouble and that's the point.

It was tough briarfox. I played along and did worse. 3 balls in the water at that short Par 4. I'd suggest taking a bit more break with your putts - especially at 13 stimp.
Pro-Am round at Sawgrass for practice.
I've been tweaking my swing to get more consistency off the tee and everything went right (i.e. correct). A 65 with 26 putts.
Benign conditions and easy pins but I'd love to take that form into the tournament. Alas, that just aint gonna happen. This is such a great sim that nerves and desperation when things go bad play a part.
But as Vijay's son told him before the 2000 Masters, "Trust your swing, Papa !."

Gave it a crack, recording didn't take. 70 with 33 putts. Unless I learn to read the greens/putt I'll stay towards the back of the field.
Not sure how you rad them. I will swear on some holes I see a break but the putt will go straight, or worse on some, the other way

I've been meaning to do a small tutorial. Maybe before 1st round or just after. It might help.

OK. I've just been checking the conditions for the 1st round.
Easy Pins
Normal fairways (Even though it's been raining. I'll make them softer if rain persists during the next rounds)
Soft Greens
Stimp 12 (I'm trying to get a read from the telecast. They are slower but I don't want to make a dramatic change from 13 stimp)
Realistic greens (of course)
Calm winds.
I'll record my putts and do a tutorial after my round. It'll be interesting to see how putts react at 12 stimp and whether they break less. Wetness affects break but it isn't factored into PG.

Here's a quick tutorial for no-aids putting.
I reckon I use the opening default view (and an occasional F4 from behind the hole) for 70% of my putts.
I wouldn't be playing this sim if I had to use grids or break stick.
For me putting is the best part of the sim.

The Players 1st Round.
Pretty happy with that. 30 putts. At least two could have dropped.
12 stimp didn't seem that different to 12. Probably go 11 tomorrow.

Yep, not the obvious breaks, that is just trying to work out the amount of break (I'm not good at that and accept it), it is the subtle or straight putts I gripe over as I see breaks that are not there or do not see the subtle break.
BTW: hate grids and haven't used them in this game. I believe they should not be an option, I did however rely on BLI to see if any break.
I will need to keep working on it.

I checked out your round for putting Dave. (You were striking the ball very well. Nice round.)
I thought you putted fine. There was only one putt (a 10 footer on 2) where you chose the wrong line in my judgement. The missed 5 footer on 8 was unfortunate but something I have done quite a few times. But generally it was authentic misses percentage-wise.
I shot a 69 to your 68 so we're in this with a good chance. Good luck tomorrow.

I didn't want to see any more rain after our floods here. What a mess it left in Brisbane (and Sydney and down the east coast). The junk that people have cleaned out of their inundated houses is astounding. Piles of absolute junk. And they fill them up again with junk and the floods will come again and they will do it all again. The definition of madness (without insurance).
But anyway we simmers will carry on with our alternate reality...
2nd Round.
Medium Pins
Calm Winds
Soft Fairways
Soft Greens

The Players 2nd Round.
I had a Barry Crocker. Battled my swing all round. Developed a dreadful hook. And 34 putts. Any tips Dave? Shot a 73. Should make the cut.
