Well, I should have read this entire thread before I "wasted" the last hour or so of my time (just kidding)!
Armand, that is great and thanks for doing the spreadsheet. I'll have a good look at it when I get to work today after I've done the leaderboard update and anything else I can think of instead of doing real work.
No it's not really sympathy - more of an inspiration to get back to playing Pro (off/off). I went straight to no assists when I got the game and was quite prepared for the wayward shooting. I spent a bit of time on the range and sorted out my swing and my rhythm but in the heat of tournaments played min/min to keep those horror shots out of my game. Eventually my groove was so good at min/min I had no trouble hitting straight balls. When I went to Pro for the last two rounds of the Masters I maintained that good rhythm and didn't spray too many drives. Long irons are always tough but that seems realistic to me.
The trick is to get that swing tempo grooved into your game and I believe it was because I went straight to no aids when I started. I HAD to get the swing right. I've posted some tips previously if anyone cares to find them. Please realise any max/max players that I am not being disrespectful of your choice. It has to be enjoyable. If it's frustrating and painful you go elsewhere. It's just me not being comfortable playing with any assists.

Yeah G, concentration is the key but I found that after that initial need for conscious swing control it really does become a natural muscle memory thing - if that is at all possible with a mouse. No aids does also get you thinking about course management in that there are times when the sensible option is the better option. I'm back to shaping shots once again now that I've turned Pro (I love saying Pro) to open up greens and play away from trouble. It also means that you become a better player from unusual positions which means that you become a better all-round player.
It also means that I'm starting to lean in my chair when my shots stray off line but when a high shot tracks towards the pin I'm doing the old 'look up, look down to flag, look up, look down' just like they do on telly. My sense of reality is blurring. Who am I? How did I get here?

Ted your right about the swing but mine is getting so consistent that it is most of the time down the center of the plane. Congrats on turning Pro but this old dog is staying an Amateur for now as Min is where I am parked and getting ready for the Stableford with my Greensboro threesome and whatever color has the best score after my seven round marathon will be the entry to the grand event. I am making my guys qualify now which settles it as my wife has stated you are now addicted to this golf game. This truly is as they say on tour a drive for show and putt dough game right now as you can be left or right but if you can get it up in down from around the green you can score.

So true G. Well I had to turn Pro. I've got mouths to feed - mainly mine - and as you know I have a big mouth. The Chicken Run is being finalised as we speak. The chooks are being frozen and there are so many that the first three will all get a chook. If we get three entrants we will be laughing. A handicap stableford event should make things interesting. Consider this - stableford encourages aggressive play and handicaps encourage players to try out less assists (you get a higher handicap if you shoot high so what the heck). Happy times.
Anyway the leaderboard has been updated and kennetharry has shot to the lead. Great shootin'. There are still chances out there and maybe a champion has yet to hit off. Who knows?

Secondly, apologies to Ted for duplicating his work (probably), but since I spent the time doing it, I figure I might as well share the results. For Charles, frank70, and myself, I have put together a spreadsheet with the scores, aids, etc. Not everyone posted the aids they are using or what type of putting help they use (grid, BLI, or both), so I've got quite a few blank spots in the spreadsheet. Nonetheless, you can view/edit/filter/re-sort the sheet as you wish from this link:
Great work Armand. Very interesting data there and very helpful.

Teddy and others,
I've updated the spreadsheet to include the average score of the filtered set of players. So, if you filter the players using MS, the average score for each round is calculated. Same if you filter for 3C players. Just for sh*** & giggles, I compared 3C, MS and Unknown swing types (removing my high scores so as to not skew the results):
Rd 1 Rd 2 Rd 3 Rd 4
Unknown Swing 68.92 67.50 70.00 69.00 (12 players)
3-Click Swing 71.00 69.47 71.87 69.85 (15 players)
Motion Swing 74.07 73.29 73.00 72.20 (12 players)
Posted 08 April 2015 - 03:30 AM
Rd.1 = 72 Rd. 2 = 74 Rd. 3 = 77 Rd.4 = 76

Round 4: -1 (71) MS, MIN ASSIST, BLI and grid all 4 rounds
Pretty pleased with shooting under par all 4 rounds, with minimum assist.

Finished off with a -2 (70).....with a 7 on the 12th....I think I was +5 on that hole for the tourney.
Cheers for organizing...was fun....off to practice with mod/mod.
I don't think I'll fully make the switch from 3C to MS until it's linked to the avatar....that's my excuse anyway

Rnd 4, min/min, BLI only, and shot a 74. This is the 2nd tourney where my last round was the best of the 4.

A 43 shot swing from my initial rounds total of 260 using the 3 aids maxed out. I will give it a go with the low aid setting next and post my scores also. Definetely a different and more challenging game without those aids maxed out!!

four rounds using minimal aid setting, 3 click and grid view on greens.

Ill try 4 rounds with no aids now. Hardly hit a fairway or green in regulation. Making me better with the wedge all this if theres one positive to come out of lowering the aids!

I've updated the scores and fixed a major sorting error that I noticed on the spreadsheet. It should all be correct now.

I tried to sort on column "D" but in the data tab the sort options were greyed out.
