Well, I guess it's my turn. I'm playing it straight forward. No extra practice etc. Just get out there and have it out with the course (and myself <_< ).

My first round was a disappointing uh...79 (+7)*. Boink.  And that's just because of the back nine. At the turn I was level!! I even hit the hazard on 6. But I must be honest: only a couple of days ago, I switched to mod/mod on the snap/sweet spot. My enthusiasme got ..uh.. the better of me.. Or my ego -_-.  That was a BIG mistake leaving 'those clubs' in the bag for this tournament. Call me stupid.

I did not manage to hit ONE fairway till the 13th for pete's sake!! I kept pulling shots with the big stick. Only 3 fairways hit in the whole round! That's Mod/Mod for ye. My ironplay and shortgame kept it going for a while though, but of course, you can fool yourself some of the time in this game, but most of the time ... etc.

Anyway, for the second round we'll go back to the old tested max/max clubs I guess. This game is hard enough as it is.

Rd2: 74 (39-35). This time with max/max in the bag. Still some issues with slightly pulling shots here and there. Must be a glitch in my swing or something. Hit most fairways though. Other than that, could've been 3 or 4 shots better. Oh well, at this stage, i'm not complaining. The game is running smooth and fast. I can't wait till we can exchange recorded rounds with others etc. Man, this game is really something. It's almost the real thing. (Won't keep me as fit though!.. ;))

On to the third! :P

Rd3: 76 (36-40). Got robbed quite a few times holing out. Balls just 'floating' over the hole like there wasn't a hole at all! A bit hart breaking at times... That's an issue which will be adressed I'm sure. The putting in motion swing is not 'up to par' yet. Oh well, having fun regardless.

In round 3 I managed a 78 thanks to an eagle on 18.  MS, min/min, BLI only.

Is anyone else experiencing problems with the game pausing then starting and a sign saying not responding?, never had this before but went to steam and a couple of others have started a thread on it.

Yes I have also. Half a dozen attempts in the past half hour and it kept crashing the game so I gave up and will try again later

Round 4  38-31=69 -3  Mod / Mod Grade B MS BLI.  Missed four putts inside of 4 ft on front side and another lousy front side and good back.  To me Mod / Mod or Min / Mod is way to play it as I have tried the Max but just to easy and prefer it this way as it gives you the feel of real golf and you have to work to score and at one point in round after 5 holes I was +2 but played -5 over rest the way and it just feels good when you do that with less aids.  Not trying to win just get better and that is what I am doing and to all who work your way down don't get discouraged when you do as there is a learning curve when you turn aids off but trust me its more rewarding as you get better at it.  One last note is that to me the greens were slower for short putts at 12/5 than they are with 10/7 but that is just what I saw.

i thought i would try another 4 rounds but this time lower the aids down from max to moderate.

R1-71

R2-74

R3-76

R4-82

Total-303

A 43 shot swing from my initial rounds total of 260 using the 3 aids maxed out. I will give it a go with the low aid setting next and post my scores also. Definetely a different and more challenging game without those aids maxed out!!

Barry glad to see you gave it a try.  Trust me it takes time but you will get it and it will be a lot more fun in the end.  One tip is that you have to always pay more attention to the swing and if you get in trouble the best way to play it is to put the ball back in play and take your medicine and move to the next hole.  At one point when I started moving down my scores looked like yours also and it took a while but now I can keep it around the par number and go a little lower or higher depending on the day.  Those last two rounds were tough with the Gusty and the Difficult pins but not bad for first crack at it.

I played my first round today ... should have practiced a couple rounds!  LOL

I play MS with no aids, no grid, no bli, no top view, no gimmes, ... you get the idea!  I'm really starting to think putting is completely broken, so I'm glad AJ is re-working it.  Short putts are extremely difficult with no aids.  I suffered a 7-putt on the 6th hole from 18 feet (I'm glad AJ is re-working putting) ....... anyway.

1st Round Stats:

FWYs:  2 / 14 = 14%

GIRs:  3 / 18 = 17%

Putts:  41  (2.28/hole, 3.00/GIR)

Score:  51-48 = 99 (+27)

If after all of that, consider yourself lucky, if the only thing that didn't work is putting!!! Of course, I am also aware that you are into 'curling'. So about the only thing left, my friend, is 'whips and chains'.

Geez Louise, you sure do like doing things the hard way. :D

Leaderboard updated. It's not over !

Ok, I'm going out to play round 3 with no assists in sympathy with Armand. In the famous words of Captain Lawrence Oates, "I'm just going outside and I may be some time".
