I'm finding my game around the greens is problematic. I'm chipping ok from the fringe and have mastered the distance control almost. I'm still running through the green too much though. Pitching is fine. I've been too scared to use the lob shot. Didn't they introduce a skulling chance? My splash shots from the bunker have me bamboozled. I'm always short and the caddy advice distances don't seem to measure up - by a long way. More practice needed I suppose.

Funny, I'm kind of the opposite. I find it difficult to get the proper distance when chipping and sometimes when pitching. Flopping and bunker shots seem much safer since they don't roll much.

I'm fairly certain if we could see notches on the power meter, it would look a bit like a nautilus shell, with the distances increasing in an accelerating pattern. Halfway up the meter is not 50% power; more like 33%. Often when you hit out of the bunker you need about 50% power. Give it a little extra.

It took me quite a while to get chipping sorted MWP. My trouble is that I'm not practicing on course very often (only playing comp) so I haven't experimented with using more loft (or less) while chipping. But a splash bunker shot with the 64W - which is 80 ft for a full shot - to a pin 40 ft away comes up way short at 50% power. It doesn't seem to matter if it's elevated or not.

Anyway, I'm going to spend a day on course practicing all those shots.

Yeah, like I was saying, I wonder if what appears to be the 50% mark is really something closer to the 30% mark. I'd be interested to hear what you learn about it.

I use a 60W for sand shots and a full swing is 39 yards. At 50% I get about 45 ft and a 75% gives me about 70 ft. Don't carry a 64W as I tried it but can do more with the 60W and be more accurate in traps and anywhere else and it lets me carry the 2H which is a must for the bag. The 64W in my opinion brings the shank not play more than the 60W. Just my thoughts.

Replayed Florida Glades. 35-35=70. -2. BLI NPS MS MED Stimp 10 Breezy 62% fairways and 67% greens 27 putts and ave 278 off tee. Not as good a score as my 69'there but better play as I made a great boggie number 5 as I dead pulled my tee shot and hit tree to left of tee and careened into water on right. Hit layup which was no easy task to about 192 yds and hit 5I to about 3 ft to do it. Chickened out on 18 and played up right side and made boggie. All in all a good round tho.

Bogey-free round! One lucky chip-in from the fringe. Other than that, nothing special; just kept hitting it close.

medium pins, breezy

Replayed Black Swan.

36-32=68  -4   Better old score by 5

Played BLI MS MED  NPS

Set the setting for chance of rain and got four thunderstorms and I will tell you it gets real dark in them storms and it was total concentration.  Averaged 278 of the tee and hit a lot of greens and putted well and probably the best I have hit the ball so far.  Now I am done till Sunday night when I return and to all of you have a great weekend and hit them straight.

Teddy, MWP,

The relationship between "power" and distance, for all but putting, is a power function.

distance = 100% distance * ( power / 100% )^N   with N = ~ 4/3 for most of the clubs, for power between 50% and 100%.

Spin might be more "tweeked" for the wedges to behave properly.

Replayed Willow Heath (Breezy, Stimpmeter 9, Difficult pin positions)

71 (34+37)

Eagle: 8

Birdies: 4, 16, 18

Bogeys: 9, 10, 11, 17

64% FIR, 50% GIR, 1.33 PPH

Highlight was the eagle on the par 4 8th. Hit the tee shot on the green only 5 meters right of the flag. Unfortunately the eagle was followed by three bogeys in a row.

Wow, where'd you get that info? It certainly is plausible.

I've programed my own ball flight simulator, and gone to the range to do some shot data comparisons between PG and my code (driver for now). Carry distances, spin, ball speed (power) track very well between the two - along with Track Man data (for same launch conditions). Distance "platues" at power beyond 100%; spin increases alot at power above100%.  At power below 50%, the X-vs-Power curve changes.

Thanks for that info J.....

I've been moving house (right on the beach) and no internet for a few days. I'll update the scoreboard on Wednesday. Keep 'em coming.

Hidden Canyon: 70

Didn't have a good fairway percentage, but my approaches and first putts were pretty solid. Three birdies, one bogey. I need to hit in from a farther distance to avoid having too much backspin.

Been playing a lot today, haha. This course is tough. Seemed like a lot of bogeys, but I guess it balanced out.

Some missed putts, but some good birdies too. One chip-in from the fringe.
