Hidden Canyon, +11 83.  Got 73% FIR this time, but could only manage 33% GIR.  Despite that, I had 3 or 4 really good looks at birdie, I just can't putt straight.  Missed a 2 footer for a 3 putt on one of the early holes and I swore I was only off by a pixel.

Hidden Canyon.  71  -1  MS BLI Calm Med 10 Stimp.  Played with Max who shot 67 and Min who shot 71 also tho if any luck with putter would have shot 65.  Pro had 71% fairways and 56% greens with 1.39 putts.  Very solid round with really only one bad mistake and that was at last par 5 where was just off green in two and had to struggle for boggie.  Still agree with some that chipping a little off with Pro as it is to touchy for me.  Headed next to Shadowlands and all three will be going with me.

Florida Glades 70 (-2)

Difficult pins, 9, normal, BLI, breezy

Had a few rounds here this afternooon. Was driving the ball all over the place. I thought,  'WTF!' and went to the driving range. Was hitting beautifully. Went back to Sawgrass...slicing and hooking through the trees, in the water, you name it. 'That's very odd' I thought. Was getting frustrated when it occured to me it might be a framerate issue. Turned down the graphics settings and voila, I was straight and true once more (well, within reason).

So I went back to the first tee and shot this round. Was -4 until the 17th. Still, -2, can't complain!

Shadowlands   37-38=75 +3 MS BLI NPS Breezy Med Pins Stimp 10.  Max shot 66 and Min a 70 so good comp with my handicap system and Shadowlands always one of my favorites back in the Links days and no different here.  Strayed a bit on some of my shots but putting and short game helped again.  Hit 57% of fairways and 56% of greens with 1.67 putts.  Now the three of us will be off to Florida Glades.

Massachusetts GC  72  (even par)  PRO

champ tees, medium pins, calm, stimp 10

FW 64%, GIR 52%, PPH 1.41

What a crazy round for me, it was all looking great until the par three 16th

Birdies at 1, 4, 8, 17 and 18 along with an Eagle at 14

Bogeys at 5 and 6 and then it all went wrong, twice in the water of the 16th tee meant it was an 8 on the scorecard.

Although 2 birdies followed its more a case of what could have been but that's golf for ya.

South Hampton +10 82.  MS, easy pins.  Not much to say here, had one birdie and 2 or 3 8 footers to save par, but it wasn't enough.

+14 86 at Florida Glades.  50% FIR and 22% GIR.  I need to buy some new balls, because all the ones I had are at the bottom of those lakes.

Florida Glades.  35-34=69  MS BLI CALM MED  PINS Stimp 10 NPS

fairways 57% Greens 50% Sand Saves 100% Scrambling 67% 1.33 Putts

Best round so far at Pro and played as always with MIn 68 and Max 61 and pretty even after my handicap setup.  Made birdie from cart path on 12 and made a 41 foot bomb on 17 for birdie but chickened out on 18 and played right to avoid water and blowing up score and made Boggie.  All and all a very good round and had a lot of fun with Max guy attacking the course.  One change today was I tried to keep my swing for Pro at around 90% so I sacrificed distance to keep the ball in bounds and to me just cant be aggressive with Pro or Min like you can with Max but it sure is fun to bomb the ball away and I will continue to keep on of each in all my playing.  Now off to Mass. for a round there.

Nice work guys.

You just missed the last leaderboard update Fairwayman. I'll update a bit later today.

I'm quite envious of guys who have high personal scores to beat. I've got three tracks at 74 so I've got to reduce two of them to climb the leaderboard. It's not bloody easy! I'm enjoying it though. It gives me plenty of motivation. It's like a personal match play round and if I can stay within a few strokes with three to play I could pull off a miracle finish. That raises an interesting future idea - a ghost opponent (you playing your best round) playing alongside and against you, shot for shot.

My main trick at the moment is the 'aborted practice swing' technique. I'm really concentrating on the backswing. If I can get that at a smooth tempo I go through with the swing. I firmly believe that the backswing is the most important part of the swing. It determines the overall success of the swing and is the basis from which the downswing emerges. Once that backswing is consistent I find I can make subtle changes to the downswing speed and path for shaping shots. There is even some muscle memory going on there. My control is definitely improving and my draw is accurate to a few feet once I'm on song. Another cool habit is the 'finger flick' with MS. It's starting to feel very natural and the nervous jerkiness is disappearing. In fact it could become so intuitive that there won't be so much concentration on the pointer on the gauge but more just relying on a smooth mouse swing.

It's very encouraging to see the scoring in the FPC. Even in the best of rounds there are bogies scattered around. This is great. It's highlighting the fact that pars aren't automatic and birdies are invaluable. We are playing the course and not the game.
