Calm, Stimpmeter 11, Difficult pin positions

71% Fairways, 44% GIR, 1.28 PPH

I'm quite happy with this round especially with a GIR rate of 44%.

Shadowlands 71 (-1)

3CL / PRO / BLI

Highlight of this round was a 39ft eagle on Hole 2    
The rest of the round was a battle to build on that early boost but a couple of bogeys along the way looked to spoil the party until a birdie at the 18th had me smiling again.

Played with Min 73 and Max 64 and it was quite tough there with those pins and had to birdie 2 of last 3 holes to get back to a 76. One left and that is WH and will give it a whorl this evening.

Out in 33 back in 38. Played a decent round.

Breezy, normal, 10 etc.

Had a couple of days off. Game looks fresh every time I come back. Looking forward to Medinah.

Birdied 8 and 9 to get under on the front but could only manage one birdie at 13 on the back.

Was -4 at the turn and then had a string of 4 bogies. Birdied the last two holes and felt very relieved to do so.

Round included a splash from the g/s bunker on the 2nd that bounced once and then bounced into the hole for an eagle.

Usual settings with calm wind.

I kept The Swan back to have an assault on my 74 I had posted there. Was 2 under at the turn and I thought I might shoot low but bogies on 14 and 16 killed the momentum. Still -  picked up two shots.

 

I'm enjoying this sim more than I thought possible.

Final round of event before work.  Willow Heath.  33-36=69  -3  MS BLI NPS Calm Med Stimp 10. fairways 43% greens 72% putts 1.56.  Played with Max 65 and Min 69 and probably my best round with three of PG yet.   Lots of fun for once I went to three different levels of play in the group and its how I will play all forum events from this point as it gave me a chance to play as a Riverboat gambler in Max a conservative but ready to gamble Min and a total conservative Pro sort of like a Zach Johnson who keeps it in play and avoids the big number.  Much more interesting that way and I must say with my handicap setup quite competitive.  So Ted when does the Open Championship Begin?

Got the decorators in today so I'm playing a few rounds to the smell of emulsion paint. Lovely.

Breezy wind and usual pro conditions. Hit most fairways and putted a couple of times from the rough where I was just an inch or two into it with decent results...not sure how realistic that is but I'll take it. I think eventually that won't be possible but then it depends on the kind of rough...here in the uk at my local course the rough isn't too bad around the greens but I think it is different on the USA courses?

Replayed Southampton as I sucked it up the first time.  36-38=74  +2  MS BLI NPS Calm Med 10 fairways 64% greens 56%  Putts 1.61 and 100% on sand saves again.  Played with Min 73 and Max 65 who couldn't putt if his life depended on it today.  Was even and on 16 sculled a chip and made double but parred last two to finish where I did.

I have to admit I am really enjoying this concept from a player's point of view. It's very motivating. That even par round target is beautifully set up by the PG design. I'm having a very cool golfing experience.

Hit a lot of good shots with many lag putts for gimme's.  Short game and putting are the reason for sub-par scores.
