For those of you that aren't subscribed to Mike Jones' youtube channel, he posted a new gameplay video earlier today  showing the RTS with a mouse.

Looking good so far Mike.  Will the short amount of time it takes the program to recognize your follow through be addressed/fixed?

Thanks for posting!

I am wondering if you have to put the mouse pointer in middle of screen to swing or will we be able to move pointer to the right so the view of the golfer is unobstructed?

Thanks!

You can position your mouse cursor anywhere on the screen to swing.  Most of those testing seem to prefer swinging in the centre like Mike.  Easier to keep an eye on your backswing while watching your cursor.

Thanks Joe.  I don't usually watch the cursor.  I am looking at the arrow for power.  So nice to know we can do either!  Now we will be able to look at the actual golfer while swinging which is the way it should be.  PG is coming together.  Getting better all the time!

Starting to warm to this RTS and l like the way you can put the cursor in the middle. Half starting to believe that part of problem of keeping the swing straight is you are in the middle and meter to the right. Now on a small screen not a big deal but I play on 32 screen and it is really off to the right. Looking forward to giving this a try and hoping its soon.

It's very good but also quite hard to achieve consistency. 20 over par is a good score for me at the moment.

That's really awesome actually. I'm wondering if it's going to make putting more difficult. I think the main reason TGC putting is more difficult is because there is no meter.

I really like the putting and much prefer it to using the normal MS. My putting is actually better with the new RTS.

A lot of this is still WIP so things like the UI will likely change before a public release.

Looking good Mike and will the downswing be tied in with the forward motion of the mouse too as that doesn't appear to be the case in the video?

Man, I'm gonna have to ditch my 3-click and start boning up on RTS. Looks sweet.

Yes, I noticed that slight delay between the two as well. I expect it's something to be ironed out as Mike mentioned it's a work in progress. It seemed less noticeable on the drive compared with the pitch onto the green.

I'm really liking the progress and am very excited to try the new update when it's released.

I'm wondering if the ratio, i.e. .25 will be a factor in RTS.  Looking at the video it appears that the downswing is fast and would be less than .25 when compared to the backswing.  I would assume that determining power is going to take a lot of practice without the meter as a guide but looking forward to trying RTS.

I believe that the ratio is still requires with mouse swing but not with a controller.

Tempo ratio is still part of the shot, as are plane and offset. I topped loads with mouse RTS when I first started testing. It takes practice but is a great feeling when you start hitting good shots, you feel a real sense of achievement.

Backswing is tied to mouse and power is determined by length of backswing. Downswing isn't tied to mouse movement as there is a fraction of a second delay, but the devs have explained why this is and I'm sure they will make mention of this when the RTS goes public.

IMO, it doesn't cause any major problem as you learn to concentrate on the mouse push rather than watching the ani. The animation only swings on one plane so you're not really gaining much by watching it from my experience. Yes, some will not like it, but give it a chance before totally disregarding it.

I'm shit at it but would go as far as to say it is the best swing mode in PG and I'm a 3C player.

Daz that's great to hear from a 3C guy and again I am really looking forward to trying this out.  And again I am really looking forward to being in the center of the screen vs the right side.

I have to agree with what Daz had to say. Been a 3 clicker forever but already becoming addicted to RTS. As Daz I'm not shooting worth a darn but still enjoying the process. And this is coming from someone who doesn't care much for motion swing. The only problem I'm currently having is that at least for me the short putts need tweaking as it seems it's far too sensitive. It's not unusual for me to have a 3 footer and occasionally blast it pass the hole but with practice it is getting better. The tempo required for full swings feels very smooth and natural. For those that prefer motion swing I would expect RTS will prove to be a big hit. ;)

I have to say I really don't like that slight delay on the downswing.  For me it takes away from the feeling of immediacy that RTS is meant to convey.  Hope it can be fixed, though Daz's post above suggests that perhaps it can't.  I actually like the MS swing where there is no attempt to synchronise the user and golfer's swing.  A sort of half and half, jerky swing as RTS appears to be in that video doesn't appeal to me at all.
