Current console defaults:
game_upColor 181,171,29,199
game_downColor 14,103,17,199

game_upColor is color of the up swing
game_downColor is the color of the downswing

values are Red(1-255), Green,(1-255), Blue(1-255), transparency(1-199)

Example for a white upswing would be game_upColor 255,255,255,199

site for converting colors to RGB values:
http://www.rapidtabl...r/RGB_Color.htm

For settings to take effect at start up automatically, put these settings in the autoexec.cfg
--game_upColor=181,171,29,199
--game_downColor=14,103,17,199

Config file location:

C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Perfect Golf/Config

If the file is not there, you'll have to create a text file called autoexec.cfg

@Zmax, Thanks for the info!  What file contains these commands that I need to change?  I tried adding them to "Autoexec.cfg" but that didn't work...

Or, does this only apply to the Simulator?

Thank you.  I didn't include the leading dashes when I tried it...

If the last number, 199, in those commands is opacity this could be very useful for those complaining about having issues seeing when there is a harsh background, like a sandtrap. I'll test it tomorrow, too sleepy now.

Works great thanks but 2 questions:

  • Can we change the grey overswing?
  • What to name the files if you have 2 autoexec.cfg in your folder?

Adriaan, just add eveything to one file....

I managed to create this.... yellow on the upswing, and black on the downswing...

However, the background yellow is still visible down the sides of the outer edge (all the underlying colours used are visible) -

Is there a way to have the downswing overlay the upswing completely?

That would be a no I assume and seriously needed IMO.

It would seriously help if we could adjust that, or the ability to fade in/out the actual existing swing meter itself.

Still tinkering... but would be interested to see others colour combinations... displayed in images with the codes attached, for others to emulate ;

--game_upColor=255,255,0,199
--game_downColor=0,0,0,149

I just realized it's not that easy to get something that fits your eye.

Pick two colours you think you'd be happy with, and try using the Transparency to simply tone them down.

Or alternatively, look at other games you have played, using Swing Meters or console colours familiar to you. Grab a screenie and try and colour pick their colours.

So far as having two autoexec.cfg files, simply combine the commands in one into the other autoexec.cfg file and delete the one which you copies commands from.

Thank you Zmax. This sure helped a lot.  I went for the Red/Green meter.  218.11.53.199  The contrast helps with the leading edge ;-))

What  Game Options(commands) will the autoexec.cfg file work for......?????? Been trying to  add gr_cellWidth to this file CameraViewDistance and treeBilboardDistance but changes and reverts back to in game settings when you get to next hole....this new update has changed tree quality 's lowest setting from .5 to 1 and has made frame rate difference.... My system specs exceed min requirements yet am forced to change native resolution just to play lowest possible settings.....

hmm or how about the ability to move the freaking meter to where you want? Instead  of it being superimposed over the trap  you could actually move the blankity blank thing to where it wasn't an issue. Rather then having to be game coders ourselves in order to change the color of the dang thing in order to see it.

Sorry but seriously this feature has been asked for more then a few times. Just can't understand why it would be so hard to do. Other far older golf games have that ability.

As I understand it there were problems moving the meter, so it was tabled in favor of fixing more pressing items.
