I agree that the home course should choose conditions.  I'm not going to enforce it, unless we play online together, but I'm going to play my two 'home' rounds at Carroch Loch with the following conditions:

1st Round:  Gusty, Hard Ground, Medium Pins, Stimp 10, No gimmes, Variable (Overcast), Chance of Rain, Active Weather ON.

2nd Round:  Windy, Hard Ground, Difficult Pins, Stimp 8, No gimmes, Variable (Overcast), Chance of Rain, Active Weather ON.

I will play at least one solo round at the course before these rounds, though, as I haven't even played the course yet!  If my opponents are game, whomever plays first can choose either of the two conditions (or whatever other conditions you want).

hey crow,do you remember the conditions you set on southhampton? i would like to do the same before i play against your round.that just seems more realistic ,to be on a level playing field.

Hi Ted, If it's possible to update the scores, I'll replay my round using these conditions, which are far more demanding than those I played on.

Yeah Joe. However you feel comfortable. Very nice round anyway. I'm strictly a high 70s at Medinah (so far)

I presume there is no way to change shot type - pitch, flop etc?

Yeah Brendan. To keep it authentic there is no way to choose those shots.

Unless...the caddy has given you a chip shot when you have to carry a bunker for instance. In that case open up the HUD and choose your shot type and then CAU again. There hasn't been many times when I've had to change shot type. I'm learning how to fashion shots with what the game gives me.

But that's just the way I play. I'm disciplining myself by trying to have a full round not opening the HUD. But you would use your discretion.

I'm going to write up detailed info re the philosophy and implementation of BARE on the website tomorrow.

I putt from the fringe a lot. It's just a matter of scrolling your mouse wheel to bring up the putter. It's quite easy to find out the club you've got by scrolling. Count up from the putter or down from your loftiest wood.

One thing I do is check, with a practice swing, whether the caddy has given me a chip shot or a pitch shot.
