If it ends up that this anti cheat forces some of us to go out and buy a $50 mouse just to play MS on a game that insists on making sure it gets rid of a few cheaters out there (although these days maybe it's NOT a few) then I'm going to have to look at TGC2 (although for the price to join one could probably maybe get a halfway decent mouse and I really would rather NOT leave).

Do bottom line is a standard old 10 year old mouse basic mouse will NOT work? (Nor my fairly new Chinese mouse?). I still think just let the cheaters cheat cuz I for one don't care. Just like right now there are tournies going on right now that is based on the honor system. They all are TP but am considering trying them out even if I end up 50 Over. After this rant think I'll go check on mouse sales (and not at the pet store :).
Anybody make sense out of all this. Doing on a tab and still early morning (after noon in UK) and drinking coffee which makes me run at the mouth (ask my wife). So after this sentence I'm going to lift my finger (Swype) and tap post.

I didn't notice any issues at all with my Dell mouse - the one that came with the computer.  It's probably not worth much more than $10, but it does have a button to change DPI settings "on the fly".  I just leave the setting at the lowest, and despite being a wee bit slow for Windows use, I've adapted my RTSH swing to that setting.

I'm interested to know how JTee (and others?) are able to make their swings have more than an inch or two movement, though.  Maybe my mouse just isn't that "flexible".  ;)

Since it's now been removed, I'm satisfied.  I know JNPG has the best interests of its players at heart, but when it's applied to every mode of play, I call foul.

If and when a anti-cheat thingy is found and put into play, I would sincerely hope that it ONLY APPLIES TO TOURNEY/COMPETITION ROUNDS!  If most of us are just banging out a round with friends, NO ONE from the "clubhouse" or the "PGA"  should care!

This was one of the stupidest damn things I ever heard of. If you can program an anti-cheat, doubtful, you can program a cheat for the anti-cheat.

Oh come on.....With all the crazy scores and stats and accusations of cheating, you can't blame people for trying to do something about.

Good idea, but it is going to be hard to create. If it was easy, EA would have done it long ago.

I agree completely.  I applaud the effort!

Well... I'm glad they didn't just throw their hands in the air and say "oh well"

It's worth the effort to at least try.  If it doesn't work then it doesn't work but at least we'll know.

It was never a few Pappy.  Edgers from Links series through TW series top players used mouse exploits.  Using a game exploit like closing a window during a bad shot was well known and everyone tried (if they heard about it).  No one can say "I didn't try it".  If they do, they are quilty as sin.

When it comes to this game if all methods can be quashed sooner than later that's wonderful.  Because the people who stay at the top of the leaderboards NEED to be respected rather than be suspected. :)

That includes many, including mebbe and buck.  Just thought I would beat you to the punch "boys".

I support every try to implement an anti-cheat.

Besides using a certain dpi setting i play withou any aid, edge or whatever. I achieve my scores fair and square. As probably do the vast amount of players of OGT.

But if we could get those who cheat, it really would be great.

And it should eliminate the 100% FIR controllers.

No, not everyone abused the loophole to exit out of the game before a bad shot finished so you'd essentially get a free mulligan in an EXTREMELY pitiful and lowly attempt to get to the top of a leaderboard.  You see, there are many (I'd venture to say most) of us that enjoy fairly playing the game for good spirited competition.  We don't spend out time trying to find ways to cheat, we spend our time trying to find ways to become better.  Only the scummiest of scum did this and they were rewarded with a lifetime ban on OGT.  But I don't need to educate you on this since you were the pioneer do I?

Losers focus on winners.  Winners focus on winning.  Think about that for a second... I imagine it might take someone like you some time to process that.

Not everyone tried... I never did, and never would. I would suggest that you focus your attention on your own behaviour alone, instead of implying that we are all imbued with your low ethical standards.

well I got a £50 mouse and to be honest I hit the ball more consistently with a cheap Logitech that came with the wireless keyboard cost £28.

do the guy`s over at OGT really shoot those scores on TP without cheating, I`m lucky to go just under par at Hacker difficulty, that's why I don`t bother playing in the competitions anymore, it`s really about the tempo and pushing the mouse forward as straight as you can, you can practice 20 hrs a day but you still won`t hit it straight all the time.

I agree, but trying to program a solution just won't work IMHO.  There are just too many equipment variables. If you attempt to  require specific equipment, to make programming simpler, you will lose a lot of casual players. Not everyone playing video golf are hard core gamers or golfers.

I just think that the people running tournaments should police the players just like IRL. If a player is suspect, turn them loose.  Unless OGT has changed, I believe that you have a practice of requiring a player to increase their level of difficulty if you suspect sandbagging. Why not use the same approach for cheating.

I don't really disagree with you Richard but I still think it's a war worth waging.

Zmax can correct me if I'm wrong but there's only so much that OGT can do without the proper information.  I think if PP is successful in implementing this anti-cheat system it will at least give OGT the ability to make an educated guess as to who's cheating or not.  Without this it's just pure speculation.

We are still doing that along with other things.  But there's more to it than just sandbagging.  You can't police video gamers like you can in real life.  On PGA Tour, just about every player has a camera on them I think.

I'm glad their making an effort to stop the cheating. I 3 click and playing Pro its damn hard to keep your shot in the fairway. I played a guy a little over a week ago, I'm playing Pro and he was playing TP, he says hey I just got the game today I love it, and I could see why he hit every shot in the fairway using a controller. So I asked him what kind of controller he was using and he said an After Glow, witch I know is a zero access controller. So good for the dev's making an effort to put a stop to this.
