Confession time: I now realized I depended too much on the pitch. As Mike said that was my go to mode. When I think about it that was pretty sloppy thinking imo lol. When someone above mentioned about just get it to within 70 to 100 yards then there is a good chance of of getting close for a bird etc. So went out and tried it. Boy that changes my whole outlook as did alright, much better than right after the update when I was trying to slam it in for an easy pitch/putt (like the whole days). I am now whole hog now thinking this was a great update so if some of you guys were in my boat throw that pitch out and go about it with more thought maybe. Even though publishing this is telling on myself I hope others will rethink it if you were having negative opinions about the update.

I'd agree except the fat/thin punishment in TP 3C is ludicrous in Bunkers and to a lesser degree flops.

Can Mike or Andrew check this shot out? Ball took off like a rocket as soon as it hit the fringe.

I call that a learning curve.   I sure hope it takes a long time to perfect. I'd hate to get board.

It has nothing to do with learning curve at least with 3C. I don't know the status of fat/thin on other methods, but there is no combination of words that can convince me the changes in the bunker are anything but ludicrous. I actually think they went down the right road the just went way too far.

I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship right now. PG randomly punches me in the face and causes me much anguish, but I can't leave.

Hope it gets better for you Drgnslyr - I'm totally on the opposite end these days.

I'm having the most fun with Perfect Golf right now that I've ever had - not even close

Joe pesci put it best in JFK about the fat/thin in the bunker.

"It's a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma. The shooters don't even know, don't you get it!"

...as I said in an earlier post, leader boards are going to change and that's going to exasperate a few people. :)

You think I'm mad about the higher scores? That's a good one.

The higher scores are just a product of my problems.

ha Buck

totally same here, i am as excited about the game as in the beginning.

reason it seems so much much more real to me, almost everything.

the contact of the ball and ground, much more real now

wind influences, way way better

putting, oh yes, i love bumpy

bunkerplay, i like it.

no more easy pitching, but possible bump and runners.

better backspin with the wedges.

hard fairways and normal greens for better linksplay.

you need to be more creative now and that is possible.

happy golfing

maybe i forgot a few, but i have to play all coursies anew..and i have over 100 of them.

I was playing the OGT event @ Quaker Ridge earlier at 3C Pro.

Missed a Par 3 and opted to play the flop to the elevated green with the pin about 45ft away. Miss-timed the snap, hit the flop heavy. It got 3/4's of the way up the slope and then trundled back down to my feet, lol. I literally looked to the skies in disbelief. Regrouped, opted again for the flop and lo and behold, knocked the bugger in, lol. Easy par, move to the next tee.

The 4th round in the gusty conditions was tremendous. With the revised wind effects in 1420, playing with some wind blowing really makes JNPG a level above other golf games I've played (obviously I'm not referring to ones I haven't, lol).

Yes there is still fine tuning needed to the gameplay, I'd be daft to admit it is all nailed down, but I have no urge to play any other golf games while JNPG is giving me this much of a challenge and the entertainment and enjoyment it is also bringing.

On 3C, there's no real learning curve on the shot timer, it's just a reaction thing. In a green side bunker, hit it a fraction (and I mean *a fraction*) fat and you rarely even get out of the sand. Hit it a fraction thin and you'll see it sail off the other side of the green.

I said it in an earlier post in this thread and, having played more rounds now, my opinion hasn't changed that the 3C punishment settings on pitches, chips and bunker shots are just way too high.

I know many here see PG as a sim but it really is a video game dressed up to be very sim-like. For more casual players like me, the last update has taken a lot of the fun out of it. Probably half of my rounds were under par before the update, so I at least had a fairly regular sense of achievment, but now I'm lucky to be in single-figures over. I do accept that lots of people love the update, and I commend you for mastering the new technique requirements, but I just don't have the time to commit to being much better than I already am. Because of that, playing the new update just feels a little pointless for me now.

Anyone hit a plugged sand shot near the hole?  3c here and even with good snap seems plugged is impossible to get close to the pin.

Nope ... not yet anyways, when I'm left with a plugged shot I just stare at the screen, then cry a little, then accept that I'm dropping a shot or two  DOH!

Have you tried dropping a level until you get used to the changes?
