I never said it was impossible I said the fat/thin ratio was too extreme. I'll try to keep it thin, but that goes against my instincts from IRL. If I need to get it close to the pin with little green I always hit it a little fat with a little more acceleration. That can't be replicated in 3C so that's not your fault, but the fat definitely be toned down, imo. Maybe add more spin to increase the danger of spinning back into the rough or bunker. The carry is my big problem.

It does seem to be more reliable going for slightly thin. I'll see if I can get better results. It just flies against the way I have played bunker shots my whole life. I have never purposefully hit it thin in a greenside bunker unless I was 30 plus yards away. Thanks for the video and I'll try not ever hitting it fat for awhile and see if my SS stats improve.

Maybe it's just me as bunker play is one of the strong aspects of my irl game and it's hard to see your golfer in a video game failing in such miserable fashion.

I'm sure it will help - unless you like playing in the sand, fat is not an option as you can see from the vid.
PS 'thin' the bunker shot is probably a bit of a misnomer. What it should probably say is 'thinner' as all good splash shots IRL are hit behind the ball. When you hit between 0 and 2.5 degrees thin at tour pro you are effectively taking less sand but you are still hitting a splash shot. Once you're up around 4 degrees, you're well into the realm of a ball first thin.

I hope you realize that I am only so upset because I love this game so much and I don't want to go back to TGC or EA sports ever again.

Worst thing in golf is to flub a shot in the bunker. The snickers you get sear your soul, lol.

I agree with Drgnslyr221 that the fat shot in 3C is excessive. I thought that JNPG was supposed to simulate playing as a Pro golfer and pros certainly don't fear bunkers the way 3C players now do!! I enjoy the challenge, but I soon learned in beta testing that the only way I could hope to play a 'reasonable' bunker shot was to play it under-powered and play for a thin on the snap line. As Drgnslyr221 says, it feels wrong to deliberately try and thin a bunker shot.... it would feel far more natural to take more sand and over-power it, IMO.
If bunker shots are to be made hyper-difficult then so be it, but it should be the same for all swings. I've tried both on Pro, and on RTS-C they are a doddle by comparison. I couldn't imagine people staying in the bunker because they've hit it slightly fat on RTS-C and I have a terrible RTS-C swing!!

That's what I did before the update. I would hit it about 10-15% harder and hit it fat to get it higher. Exactly like I do in real life. I appreciate making it harder as it really was too easy before, but to completely change the fundamental way to approach a greenside bunker shot is frustrating. It's the complete loss of carry that upsets me. Full bunker shots are fine as far as I can tell.

I had an ace in my fourth round on the new update. 17th at Rio. Also scored a 9 on a par 3 so, yeah.
