So just like johnmeyers I did not want to pay to create terrains for CF from Lidar data. 

I know I have this other place but this should be easy to find now

So I found a way to create terrain from Lidar data be it in .las / .laz / or any raster format such as .tif or .png

I use "LAS tools"  |  "VT Builder"  |  "Photoshop or GIMP"

Very nice, always nice to have other ways to do it also just incase others don't have access to the other tools people use.
