TA..You need to escape young man

I doubt u will get this reference.

Its because of the way u have so eloquently stated in your informative, non-dehumizing usefull posts that help situations so much.

I have read many of your posts, and find you to be a very negative person so grow up and be helpful
Or like yo momma use to say..(maybe)....."if you don't have anything nice to say don't say it"

You can give constructive criticism in nice ways...not so negative and demeaning

how stupid of you to write that and do precisely what I did.. one of us is enough here.

I would rather not have my splash screens changed, but I suppose it is too late to do anything about it now.

I think my bigger issue is that my personal opinion was neither sought nor considered on that matter.

I was wondering if the designers had signed off on the OGT Tested logo. I guess I now know.

I am a landscape artist. I enjoy looking at the splash screens, as some of them are works of art. I also play golf games primarily to enjoy the beauty of the courses rather than some instinct in me to try to compete against other people and so I am far more bothered by small faults in courses than others.

I realise that being in a minority means that I should have no rights here to express an opinion when my enjoyment is diminished though, and I should instead spend my time reading other people's posts expressing their diminishing enjoyment due to realistic greens, cup physics, which swing type is easiest, and a dozen other things that don't bother me at all.

Pretty sure i asked most of the designers on at least one of their courses so they have expected it.  I must have forgotten to ask Matthew.  But thanks for the reminder...

Btw, the latest pebble does not have the logo.

I don't recall being asked, but I suppose if the majority of designers are okay with it, then I suppose I can live with it.

It isn't really something worth getting super upset about, just a preference.

None of the designers have objected to it. But if you dont want it, we wont put it on.  as you know, with so many courses in beta, it can be a mad house in there.

And there's enough angst on all these forums right now so I don't wish to create anymore.

I was asked if I wouldn't mind the logo being put on my courses...and my courses were and are tested by OGT members so I don't mind

one answer to some of this would be for PP to supply a place to download courses from

it is their game and i never understood why it was done the way it has been done.

let the course designers put together their own group of beta testers that they can work with.

designers put in courses that are finished. since PP could be supplying a download place they could also push the courses and updates through steam.

all the above would lift some of the crap off the OGT and Z-maxx could run it like he wants, instead of spending his time doing stuff just to keep things going.

PP I think it is time for you folks to get on top of your game figure it into a better easier format instead of depending on

your customers to make this game a portion of your monthly salary

the splash screen thing i got no dog in but im going to tell ya what i think anyway.

the OGT logo is just to good and bright to put on. it over shadows some of the designers work on their splash screens

a simple text at the bottom in small type OGT tested and approved in either bottom corner would have been much better and not

took anything away from the screen itself.

and i bet you would have never herd a thing about it, yet it would be on there to promote OGT

I think a sticking point with this solution could be that PP would then be seen to be hosting unlicensed courses.

That can't happen.  Licensing and Copyrights.

Exactly.

I don't remember EA Sports or Microsoft hosting user-made courses for the TW series or the Links series, they were all hosted by 3rd party sites like Course Downloads or LinksCormer.

PP are doing no different. I guess EA and Microsoft would have stated the same reasons.

The whole licensing thing is kinda silly if you think about it.  So it's not OK for PP to host the files but anyone else can and suddenly the licensing concerns are gone?

yea also think about another game TGC they control the course files and it is a one stop gig, you don't have to float to outside sites to get courses. someone mentioned the TW series and coursedownloads. during the EA stints with their games they did not use outside sites to download courses. don't know how Microsoft did it I never got into links.

I think they could legally host all of the courses as long as no original images or names have been used.  The difference with PG and TGC is that PG has other businesses and partnerships with some of theses courses.

Seems like the same restrictions would apply to any site that's hosting course files to me.

I understand why PP would be much more hesitant to do it but honestly... It's just semantics.

Well...this news sucks! I am an intermittent player in the tourneys at best due to my work schedule. That being said, I have made some good friends at the OGT TeamSpeak room. When I do get to play tourneys with them, it has been a really good time. Zmax and his admins have done a great job (all things considered). So I don't know if I am angry or sad, but it just plain sucks.

I am curious as to the entire cause of this end to a great PC tourney source. Is it money? Is it because of the upcoming Career Mode in JNPG? Is it because PP might be planning to move the game to consoles?

Zmax...if you could...please give us a detailed explanation as to all of the reasons for shutting down what I have considered to be the flagship of JNPG online tourney play. I haven't donated a dime to OGT yet (and HoganWoods has said not to at this time), but I feel that those who have deserve some additional info.

You fail to understand the essence of a community game and would like things to be controlled and limited in a way that people used to complain about. We give people freedom to create their own courses and setup their own tours and that makes us bad guys? Time to take that chip off your shoulder and stop posting nonsense.
