Sad day for this golf game. Really the ONLY thing keeping it alive IMO.

Zmax,
what would have to happen that you might reconsider your decision?
More administrators?
More donations?
As you can see by this thread, a lot of guys appreciate what OGT has done for us and the game the last 2+ years.
Although i am really short of free time (fulltime job + two little kids) i would try to help as good as i can. The site remains open as i understood it. So we need some guys who run the tours?

One would think that PP would want to keep OGT going considering that it's about 80% of JNPG's lifeline.

Yep Dam shame, OGT created by passion for golf and volunteer their precious time
to run tournaments and have designers sections that is invaluable.I donated a while ago and really appreciated their time and effort
It doesn`t help either when people are critical, whinge and complain and never happy.
Thank you OGT

A real shame. Really have enjoyed playing in the events each week. Playing solo with no competition really doesn't cut it, for me.
Thank you Zmax and all the other Admins for your time.

Count me in though on being disappointed seeing the frustration get to the point of discouraging OGT tours from continuing. I think it was a great idea and I would have liked to join in.

I have ceased playing the tour for the time being, but have always appreciated what the guys at OGT have done. I'm sure this won't be a knee jerk decision, but the effort that must go into all they have done should never be lost on anyone, even those that have never been in agreement with OGT. Sad to see it go, but totally understand if you have to move on, nothing lasts forever....good luck guys!

I think a lot of folks want to keep it going, Zmax doesn't.
Cant really see how PP can make any difference.
OGT is a 3rd party site using the API for tournaments just like PGLS does. Decisions as to whether the tours run or not are the site administrators decision, not PP's.

I know. I ran my own Links 2003 tour site for 10 years but ran it for free. Paid my own hosting fees and didn't ask for anything in return. There are costs to run a site and at LSPN they had annual dues of $20 and still do tI'll this day and to be honest $20 is not a lot for what you get. Remember they are not only running the events but hosting course downloads and that's not free either. Nothing good is free and you have to pay to get service and they should be no different.
I appreciate sites need support and I'm not disagreeing with folks donating or paying a fee to play, which helps pay the costs. I donated to OGT and have the profile icon.
I also paid an annual sub at APCD-courses com when I played Links 2003 so I'm not averse to helping out where needed. I agree in grand scheme of things $20 ain't a big deal for an annual fee, for me at least, can't speak for everyone.
Just saying I'd be a bit miffed if I paid $20 and 2 weeks later the site got pulled.

I'm sure there are other reasons but this all seems to have come to a head with the comments about course testing and splash screens having the OGT tested logo.
Maybe this was the straw that broke the camels back.

Was that splash screen a new mandatory thing?

Dunno. It was no biggie to me, but some folks seemed to find issue with it.
I don't think it was meant as a badge of honour or anything, just something that showed course had been community tested by OGT members.

It's pretty sad if you take objection to a badge that says "OGT tested" if the course displaying the badge is not up to snuff in some peoples eyes then there are ways and means to go about informing, suggesting and pointing out potential issues without questioning the ability of the people that give up their time to test a course. No way would i want to play thru 18 holes of anyone's course multiple times looking for issues that may or may not exist. You really cannot knock the guys who test the courses, sometimes they may get it wrong, and not every pin gets tested etc, but they do it with the best intentions, and for that they should be thanked, not picked apart.

So the OGT tested logo can't be there unless the fairways are perfect, with not a single blade of grass? Tell you what, I'm done with all this. Once all current beta courses are released, OGT will stop testing and releasing courses. I'm done spending hours of my life doing this. It's time for me to go play some golf for a change.
I think this is what finally made Zmax decide to end OGT tours. I can't blame him.

Neither can I. It is a thankless job that the majority appreciates and enjoys and the minority makes life miserable because there are some folks you couldn't please no matter what..

I am with you on this 100%!
We have OGT that beta test Courses for the designers of this community and provides feedback. OGT is a hosts for Downloading new courses. And most of all OGT provides this community with quality tournaments. And last but not least OGT provides Team Speak for its members. IMO an under utilized service. So much easier getting multiplayer games with team speak. OGT in many ways is JNPG.
I am not going to let OGT just slip away. I am alive and willing to provide whatever support needed by ZMax to keep OGT alive and well. Why because I care.
B.S. Time is over!

My hope always is that the passion and devotion of the many always out weigh the negativity of the few. We can only hope.
