I watched the twitch stream and thought the graphics looked great. The water and movement looked awesome. Not sure about the gameplay.....those guys have been testing it for a year or so now so they made it look fairly easy. I agree about the bunkers and that they should have made some improvements with those. The sounds and physics looked pretty dam good. I'd have to say graphic wise it's way ahead of PP. I like this game and it's always nice to have 2 golf games to play, but PP really needs to step it up graphically if there going to keep competing.

Well - I found that pretty unimpressive and am really rather underwhelmed, at least right now.
I can say this... there's a reason why I haven't been playing a lot of JNPG lately. I can understand why folks wouldn't be impressed all that much by this stream. It doesn't convey the real look and especially the feel of the game. I hate the Tropic Falls course. I played it once and swore I'd never go back. Victory Village is decent, but not one of the upper tier courses either. This stream (at least on Twitch) was at 720p and didn't succeed in coming close to what I'm seeing on my display at 1080p and 60+ FPS.
It's a shame they can't offer a 9 hole demo of the game, or at least a practice range on which prospective buyers could hit balls. That's the only way for a curious observer to experience what this swing has to offer. I agree with you guys who find fault with the stream... if I was on the fence about this game, I wouldn't be convinced by the stream to buy it.

To me it looked like the same swing mechanics and shot aids of TGC1 with the exception of the added tempo. Still has the forgiving shot cone, and putting marker that aids in distance control (could tell by the way the marker auto adjusted itself for the elevation), and distance control with the shot shaper.
I'll will most likely purchase it to try out. But I think JNPG will be my mainstay with an unaided swing that's fully controllable (distance and shot shaping) with just the controller stick itself. As with TGC1 the forgiving shot cone made it hard to work the ball, and playing partial shots with the swing length was a joke.
Will see, but I feel it will fall short of the swing and physics of JNPG. The swing has everything I'm looking for, except maybe having the speed of the swing utilized more for spin control and such.

TGC2's new swing with a little bit of tempo element probably feels awesome to beta testers compared to what they had before. Wait till the new car smell wears off. A week or two after release and scores will be in the low 50's like before.
Overall, some of the graphics looks a little better than before, but this update, IMO, is a dud. Especially if it's gonna cost anywhere near $34.99. Should maybe be $9.99.
Most of the new features like player creation and societies are completely useless for sim users, if TGC2 ever becomes available to sim users. No ETA yet. The multiple pins and tees are much needed but all courses will have to upgraded. No addition of scramble, greensomes, etc......LOL
Only reason people here are even considering TGC2 is because PG's new version with 3D grass is not out yet.

JC - Are you not at all worried about the lack of "true mishits"?
It just seems to me that even on the hardest level and even with tempo, it doesn't matter how bad your swing gets, you'll never get a true shank.
Is that accurate?
The lack of a demo really really sucks. I could easily see myself buying, trying, being unusure but running up agains the refund limitations and opting to play it safe and go with a refund.

Agreed completely..
I definitely fall into this category.
TGC feels like a video game that needs a lot more realism around the golf part.
PG feels like a golf sim that still needs more of the gloss and visuals that most video games have.
The old conundrum continues.

THIS. You hit the nail on the head for me. I'm going to buy TGC2 only in hopes that it will entertain me while I wait for the next version of JNPG with 3D grass and updated animations. I'm sure it will be at least be fun for a few weeks and it's a bonus if it impresses me enough to get steady playing time far into the future... but I'm not holding my breath.

I think once some of the top designers start releasing courses for TGC2 that the game will look so much better. HB does an ok job with their designs, but there's some really awesome designers at tgctours. Besides, you might be waiting forever for 3d grass for this game. ![]()

I wish 3D grass was the only thing missing from PG. Lot of holes in this game still.

The proof will be in seeing the silly scores at TGCT tumble, i bet they will hardly deviate from what they are now, the tempo will be mastered within an hour by decent players or people that invest a lot of time in the game, TGC is the game where birdie is the new par and i cannot see that changing with TGC 2, and that is everything i dislike about a golf game. Watching that stream it struck me how good looking the trees and water still are, the off course terrain is nice too, then you have these pristine unrealistic fake textures that totally ruin the experience, it does not feel like being out there playing golf, i would totally expect them to improve most aspects from TGC, but its all about the scoring for me..we will see.

I can't specifically contest most of your points without violating the NDA, zmax, but I can say without a doubt that the new car smell hasn't worn off on me in my in 3 months of testing. I also won't be among those shooting in the 50's two weeks after release, but then again, I rarely shot in the 50's with the original game, in which I admit it was too easy to hit the ball straight.
As for people only considering TGC 2 because JNPG's 3D grass is not out yet, my experience with the new mo-capped golfers in TGC 2 is more of a dfference maker in my gameplay experience with it. You can't begin to gauge it from the stream, but the more responsive and fluid feel from a more intricately animated animation is a big difference maker. Because of this, I'd now put new hi-res, mo-capped golfers at a higher priority on my wish list for JNPG, than 3D grass, but they are both important to taking JNPG to the level it needs to be in this gen, IMO.

I also get the feeling that they have not remedied the MP from TGC, in all the time i played TGC i could never complete a MP match, it was a total shambles, false shot reporting and all too frequent disconnects, and ghost balls never worked because you were always playing them in differing conditions..waste of time and very poorly executed.

Well Stopits Here, it could be because they are going to have a later stream in which multiplayer will be one of the focus points.

There's not a golf game on the market, past or present, that can sniff what JNPG offers in multiplayer options and functionality. I don't think that's going to change with the release of TGC 2, or even the pending August release of Everybody's Golf on the PS4 ![]()

No, I'm not because I see more than my fair share of embarrassingly bad mis-hits. I'm pretty sure they're playing something more recent than the latest beta build in the stream, but I also know that one of them wasn't actually playing with Tour clubs in the twosome, when they kept saying he was. I saw him change to Player clubs in his player settings right before the round. When I saw his Driver carry distance shown at 265 yards on the tee, I knew he had Player clubs.
I did see some things in that stream that weren't consistent with my experience though, but I can't explain why, other than they are playing a different build.

Yea - I agree with this. They made it clear as to what the focus of this stream was. So I don't fault them for this.
However, with JE running his mouth and BEGGING everyone to ask as many questions about multi-player as possible... it's understandable why people were asking questions about it.
