LOL, you guys are really too much. You bitch and moan cause your not getting any updates. They start providing updates, and you bitch and moan some more. It's hilarious. For God's sake, if this game suddenly isn't any fun, move on. Enjoy your life. I had a blast playing online today with some friends. Go play some golf. If you don't like golf anymore, don't blame PG, or TGC (for that matter).

Well... there's slow and there's ridiculously slow.  I think we are clearly in the camp of the latter.  It's just a new revelation that's all.  Now that it's out there, at least those of us that aren't patient enough to wait on the arctic circle to melt can move on and enjoy other things.  I hope there's enough players around for the next update to matter.

This is the first time we've heard that the next update likely won't be in 2017.  Not to mention that we are in May of 2017.  LOL!!

I just wish computing power was part of the equation and we could all let PP use our PCs ala SETI.

Did anyone ever figure out what Societies were?

I found this in an old dev diary post   Not sure how old it is though or if things have changed since this post:

3) Golf Societies – We’ve now got golf societies, not only places where you and your friends can hang out and play against each other in tournaments but huge public clubs. (All currency referred to is GAME CURRENCY, not real money)

  • a) Societies will have club captains that will design out seasons with entry restrictions, prize money and major tournaments
  • B) Tournament and society entry can be restricted by entrance fees and handicap ratings.
  • c) Societies will have their own bank balance so they can choose their own clubhouse. The richer the clubs the grander the clubhouse. The luxury of a plush club and the status that comes with that needs to be earned to get there.
  • d) Major Tournaments – Using club size and popularity, crowds will turn up for the clubs majors. The bigger the club, the bigger the crowds. The HUD will become more TV like and the commentary will also add to the occasion.

Almost reads like the game, Four Kings Casino on Steam.   It is like a massive social online multiplayer game, where you can interact and chat with others while playing slots, cards, whatever...  not sure I am describing it correctly, but its like social media but in a game?

Ok, thanks.  Kinda reminds me of the club idea that Tiger Woods had.

It's the same basic idea.

Just for the sake of conversation Dave, when did you realize it?

I'm starting to realize I should have known this long ago also..

I've now seen a couple comments just in the last 24 hours of people saying "give the developers a break", "complaining does no good", "some of you guys are never happy".

People paid for Perfect Golf.  We can debate the cost/value overall, but I don't think people should be expected to hand over money and then just be quiet.  They decided to try to monetize their hobby and that comes with responsibilities.

If it really is a "hobby" for them, I think it'd be only ethical to come right out and say that here and probably stop selling it on Steam also if the level is support at this point is going to be "maybe before 2018 because we're too busy making more money".

Regards the Broadcast Suite stuff, I thought PP provided this to the TV companies for a price and then the TV companies use it for their broadxasts, using their own staff. Didn't realise PP had to be on site.

Do PP attend every tour event Sky Sports cover? If not, just wondering why The Open is any different? Or do the Majors offer up a better opportunity to try and sell the PP brand, hence the guys having to be there.

If it was my business, I'd sure be on hand for a Major when the entire world is watching.  I can't speak for The Open, but at Augusta, they were constantly creating videos for the Producer at The Golf Channel.

If it was my business...

Hopefully one day they'll figure out a way to make the Perfect Golf video game "a business" also.

(complete with a model for revenue that works long term and can handle some staffing up and more consistent attention and updating)

If I was them I'd sell the game for 50% off or something. It could be a really good game if more updates and improvements were applied more often. At this rate, the game will be so far behind times that it'll die a slow death with all the new stuff coming out in the next couple years or so. I don't know....this game still has alot of potential but it needs to change and change quickly.

If you don't feel like waiting for the new version of PG, I hear That TGC 2.0 will be out next month. HB studios with their dozen programmers have added player creation, societies, and water falls. Have fun.

Hey, I just heard.  PP is hiring 20 devs at $80 grand a pop.  You can start playing the game again.

Do you guys think those kinds of snarky responses are helpful or something?

We know the other game options out there but are holding out hope that PG will one day become the full fledged product we've always wanted.

It has the best base to work off of.

It's the reason we are all here.

Would you prefer that those who are frustrated just go away and never return?

I don't understand the upside to coming after people who are frustrated and expressing it on the forum.

I don't understand the upside to people who are frustrated and express it on the forum, knowing full well, it won't make one damn bit of difference.  The game is what it is.  PP is what it is.  The development pace is what it is.  Constant bitching about it will DO NOTHING.  But please, continue to bitch.  The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, each time expecting a different outcome.  Be my guest.

Well, we are in the Off-Topic forum after all. You cited nobody less than Albert Einstein. Did you know he was born in Ulm, Germany? That's my hometown and we are working on the marketing of a future museum right know.

Till TGC2 comes out or til JNPG gets a big update: What about if we all share some stories about our hometown heroes?

Maybe we all can relax a little bit then.
