So pleased for you and hope you enjoy it.
Agree that a choice of golf games is good, especially new ones. For me, I'll be sticking with JNPG on PC and getting Everybody's Golf on PS4 in August for some proper arcade stick swinging.
As for other golf games, I see Rory PGA is 93% off for PS+ members in the PS Store for another week or so, so now selling for £3.49

I've been sort of eyeing Everybody's Golf. Not sure if it's my cup of tea but I may still give it a whirl. Hotshots Golf (which is the original, older title) was surprisingly fun for an arcade experience so I'm guessing this will be a pretty decent title as long as you accept it for what it is.

IMHO, it's not even worth purchasing at that low price.  ;)

That price seems about right for abandonware at least..

Just pre-ordered TGC2 off of steam. It's available now on your steam page and will download on June 27th.

Just caught the second TGC2 stream. It did more to persuade me not to preorder than anything else. Guess it's still wait and see for me.

I've seen that reaction a couple places - Can't watch the stream probably until tomorrow..

What's the summary of why people are negative after this latest stream?

Focused on the Societies feature. HB obviously put a lot of development time in it (same as the golfer customization feature). Of limited interest to me. What surprised me were the washed-out graphics during the (brief) gameplay. Didn't learn much more about actual gameplay improvements. So, it's still wait and see.

I am going to say this game will do ok on the consoles as it seems that is the targeted audience.   But as for TGC2, it is being released at a perfect time as there is literally nothing else being developed at this time.    I am not counting JNPG as we all know that story.. (there are a few threads about this subject).   I could remember a time when there were a few choices of golf games and you may have tried a few, but usually stuck to one game.   I guess golf games weren't big sellers in the past, I don't know.

Societies will prob work ok on console as it will have the player base, doubt it will prove a hit with the limited pc population though.  On a game play note i have one friend who is testing TGC 2, he is a decent player from TGC and without disclosing too much detail he told me that he pretty much mastered the tempo within a few rounds.  Overall its a step up from TGC, short game is much better, but no more difficult than whats gone before.  I asked him if he thinks that the scores posted over at TGCT will drop by much when they start playing with TGC 2 and he thinks not, possibly 1-3 strokes a round but no more than that, and most drop shots will be caused by forgetting the tempo aspect of the swing because you may be so used to playing without a tempo, but play time will cure that.  Not really what i wanted to hear, was hoping to see these daft scores at TGCT take a tumble, appears that will not be the case for good players.

Societies were never a hit with TW on the consoles.  I tried many and after a week, no one was playing in the tournaments.  The only thing people wanted to play on the consoles was Amateur level and head to head fast play.  Oh and yell the f word every 5 seconds.  Maybe TGC attracts a different crowd tho.   /shrug.

This is my single biggest gripe about online console play. I always feel like I'm playing with a bunch of prepubescent boys that are trying to learn the art of cursing but they don't have it figured out yet. Either that or you get some moron blasting horrible music the entire time.

It's like they need a "civilized adult" online lobby for normal people or something. I'd pay extra for that.

The TGC2 Socieities reminds me of the Playstation Home feature SONY tried back in the day. Trying to create online community groups that existed in a virtual world ad had a 'home' where members would congregate. IIRC, it flopped liked Dick Fosbury and SONY gave it the heave-ho.

The 2 part stream hasn't really done much for me to go running to pre-order TGC2. Societies seems to be a major selling point for HBS with TGC2 but is something that just has zero appeal to me. Much like the character customisation feature. Granted it is a neat feature (like TW used to have) and great for those that love to play around with it, but is something else that I personally don't have a need for.

Like others, will get a better idea of just what TGC2 is all about in the early weeks of July I guess. In the meantime my pre-order for Everybody's Golf remains and instead of TGC2, I opted to put the cash towards DiRT4 which arrived today. Vrooom!

I'm still going to wait and see how I like the swing after I've actually played the game BUT... this stream also has me concerned with the swing a bit. There were several times when Shaun completely missed the GENEROUS shot cone but had perfect/perfect tempo and his shot barely veered off course. It seems like tempo can over-correct for a horrible swing path. I'd much rather see both components of the swing cumulatively impact the shot result. In other words, in order to stripe it down the middle you need perfect tempo AND a perfect swing path. If you have perfect tempo but a bad swing path then you should not hit it straight. If you have bad tempo and a bad swing path then it should be a flat out shank...

So you want the swing to be challenging and more representative of the skill required in the game of "golf",'eh?

Talk about unreasonable!

Interesting discussion over at the TGC2 forum about swing difficulty. Hard to know what to think at this point. I don't anticipate substantive changes to PG (or even small changes) until the big update (which may be a year from now, judging from track record). So, TGC2 is still dangling there, like a carrot at the end of a stick. ;)

LOL!  Agree.  And for that reason alone I'll buy TGC2 just to try it out.  It's mind boggling to reconcile what the beta testers are saying with what I'm seeing in the stream.  And I completely believe the beta testers... 100%!  It just makes me wonder if HBS really wants an easy golf game despite what the beta testers may have done to tweak the the swing using the most difficult set of clubs.  If that's the case then it's a shame and I wish HBS would just have the balls to call it like it is.

BUT... maybe the swing is all that the beta testers say it is.  I'll only know once I play it myself.

I haven't seen the second stream, but just going on what Mebby says in post #315, it seems as if HBS don't want to go too over board with the difficulty in case some of the TGC crowd become frustrated with it.

It's as if it is just the TGC swing mechanic with a tempo feature bolted on to it and the two don't quite work in tandem as 'golfers' would expect them to. Obviously 'gamers' will think its just fine.
