HB has abandoned the one-size-fits-all mentality, have they not? Introducing difficulty levels will make a difference. How much of a difference remains to be seen. But it's a step in the right direction.

I don't think they've fully abandoned it but as you say - they've definitely taken a step in the right direction IMHO.

Never played TGC and probably never will (no 3C) but I wish them luck and hope their new version is great. The more good golf games out there the more pressure that will be on PG to keep pace and that's a good thing.

I could be wrong, but I've never gotten the impression the PP feels that kind of pressure. They apparently will take their own sweet time, thank you very much. :P I wonder, though, if PG, should the graphics improve, will attract more professional broadcast partners, among other things.

I think that the graphics HAVE to improve if they want any hope of attracting any interest in the console market.

IF they market appropriately and release this next version as JNPG2 (or similar) and tout the physics engine, improved graphics (including Nvidia Turf and updated motion captured animations) then I think they'll likely see a nice bump in the PC arena as well.

Once those items are in place they can focus on career mode and other items to be released in JNPG3. But I think the core of the game will be mostly complete with the current physics engine and improved graphics.

Lol why is this thread even here anymore,

Ostensibly, to discuss the latest The Golf Club 2 Trailer.   DoGgz, you've been in closed betas before; you know what the ground rules are.

Wow so much hatred towards the golf club 2,I'm not being funny,I like PG but no one plays it,its a loners game,at least tgc2 is trying to make it more social, hopefully be great.I think most seem to forget its a video game where people want to have fun, perfect golf is a better game than tgc1 but its far from being faultless

JC - Do you feel like we are getting closer to more public info?

It's sort of bonkers that they have "pre-orders out in the wild" yet they've been so light on marketing, details, videos, pics of the REAL TGC2 from normal views and with normally addressed questions answered.

Given that it's a v2, I really want to see some side by side on same/similar courses vs v1 and just generally lots of playing footage straight from v2.

I can see signals that they are getting closer to more public information.  My guess is that we'll see a live stream of Keith, the The Golf Club 2 Community Manager, playing TGC 2 with one or two of the other developers within the next three weeks.  That will be the best way to gauge the nature of this game, without actually playing it yourself.

Disregarding the new Avatar (which looks wonderful), if I had a photo of v1 vs v2 side by side on the tee in the normal player cam, would I instantly be able to see lots of differences in the way v1 vs v2 look?

I don't know if you would, but I can easily say that I do.  The best place to gauge the difference between the two is from the heavier rough areas.  I've had quite a few "OH WOW" moments after hitting shots in heavy rough and feasting my eyes on the naturalness of what was immediately surrounding me.  The trailer doesn't sell what I'm speaking of AT ALL, but it flits about so fast you wouldn't be able to digest it if it tried.

That's kinda my point, the thread is just a series of questions followed by a series of non answers, i'm sure the swing will be challenging for the casual player, i'm more interested in how it plays with someone who plays it well constantly, be it tours or solo.  I am also interested to see if they have revamped the short game as pitch, flop and chip were awful, also good to know if they have stopped putts from breaking immediately as it leaves the putter head.  If they have revamped all this then it will be a job well done.  I still hate that plastic pristine look of TGC though, it does nothing for me, oh and pot bunkers, a must for any respectable golf title.

If the thread was titled "TGC 2 Beta Test Specifics Answered Here", I could understand your point better.  I've answered questions about the video, and how poorly I think it represents the game, but there's only so much you can say about the superficial excursion before it is loses its luster and has run its course, pro or con.

I hope the swing is better then it was, I played the TGC1 a few times and the swing was geared more for children not adults.

I didn't think I was that old (49) and I don't have cataracts as some have suggested all who play PG must have, but I don't really understand the comments I've read that PG graphics are dated and need updating and the lighting needs work compared to TGC.  Obviously the PG graphic are not perfect; but like DoGgz mentioned, I thought that TGC looks a bit too "perfectly plastic" - not especially bad or especially good and my preference is PG, to be honest.

The TGC2 trailer looks OK, but apart from the avatars, it doesn't look much different from TGC1 to me (and I understand the quick glimpses and transitions shown may not accurately represent the visuals while in an actual game).  I think I'll proceed as I did for TGC1 - let a few months pass and read/listen to what others indicate before making a decision on purchasing the game.  The societies and build your career/wealth to play in bigger/better events or societies is not something that interests me in a game, so I'm less interested in TGC2 than before the trailer came out!

Back to the visuals, PG definitely appears much more like Links than it does TW.  This is probably why I prefer the look of PG to TGC, since I always preferred the look of Links over TW/PGA.   I've often pondered if those indicating the graphics/lighting in PG need updating preferred the look of TW over Links - that is my belief, admittedly without any basis.  Or is it that the console players wish to have things look like they do on a console.  I don't own a console, but from what I've seen, I've always felt they didn't look as good as the PC versions/games.  Many of the PG screen shots seem to have the brightness much, much higher than the default values.  I know it's all personal preference, but I've never felt the need to adjust the lighting in the game (or maybe do I have cataracts!?!).

I didn't play very much TGC at all, but like JNPG, I immediately turned all the aids off and set the difficulty of the driver swing to max, etc.  laying with RTS, I never found the TGC swing that easy and that repetitive (although it is much easier to me than the RTS in JNPG!).  I don't think I ever broke 80 or perhaps even 90.  I tired of the same conditions on the course each time I played it.  I'll keep on my on TGC2, but I won't be obtaining the gold drivers and throw-back outfits that the pre-order folks will get.

You won't be able to level that charge with TGC 2, I don't think, but I really like it that way! ;)

Agreed with the caveat that texturing hasn't moved on for years but what we have in PG works for me especially as we can use our own textures (something you can't do in TGC 1) which does give different looks to different course. However, 3D grass is around the corner.

My experience with TGC 1 on Playstation was that the colours were much more vibrant.

I have to be careful about what I say about this... the answer I would give you would compel me to go into specifics that are off limits, NDA wise.  Sorry...

Without giving any specifics limited by the NDA answer this:  which game provides the truer round of golf?

Intel i5-4570 cpu @ 3.2 GHz, ASUS Z74-K mb, ASUS GeForce GTX 960 gpu, 16 GB ram, 2 x SSD drives, Windows 10 64 bit
