I'm optimistic that the swing will be as challenging and enjoyable as PG's controller swing based on DivotMaker's recent post in the TGC2 forums:

"I will say this....based upon what I have seen in the Beta, this will be my "go to" Golf game for the foreseeable future.

Hope that helps....." (DivotMaker)

I agree.  But I want to know what his average scores/stats are before I get too excited.

the way they advertise this, its doubtfull this will ever going to be my no 1 golfsim.

too much hollywood for me.

i will wait for quite a few reviews from some real golfers before i will get it.

but my expectations are low on this title.

IMO, it would be a mistake if the gameplay in TGC2 wasn't a step-up from TGC.

Watching the trailer they seem to be making a big thing of the social club aspect and the clubhouse building and all that comes with it. All things that don't interest me. Wouldn't be surprised if this side of the game introduces pissing contests between some folks, who feel ego's are getting bruised because their clubhouse isn't big enough, lol.

I will take a look at TGC2 in the summer, more than likely for my PS4, after its seen its June release and see how things are playing out. I hope folks who see TGC2 as their 'go to' game get the required enjoyment out of it.

The textures still look like glossy plastic to my eyes. JNPG textures may look dated, but at least they don't look like perfectly placed plastic. Even Augusta is not that uniform.

I'm guessing he's referring to them currently being flat 2D textures, hence being dated, a la Links 2003.

TGC has the volumetric grass but it still makes everything look like astro-turf. Hopefully when we get to seeing JNPG's 3D grass in action it won't look so uniform and at least have some way of varying the shades of greens, browns, etc we see to give it a more realistic appearance.

My average score for TGC 2 is 7 or 8 shots higher than TGC 1.  And I ain't complainin' about it one bit.  In the game's most difficult level of play, if I break 70, I feel like I've accomplished something!

There are some heavy rough textures in TGC 2 that are both volumetric and vary widely in texture.  I'm surprised they haven't shown in videos or screenshots yet in which this is shown off.  The first time I saw one or these multi-textured volumetric rough sections, I was like WOW, I wasn't expecting this!  That latest video does nothing to sell the true atmosphere of the game as you're playing it.  It's just way too dizzying and flits from scene to scene... I wasn't impressed with it (the video) to say the least.

Me either.
Mystifying approach to marketing from Maximum.

Advertise limited preorder quantities that include extra virtual currency/benefits but refuse to actually show much of the game?

Bizarre

Good to hear. How would you compare the most difficult TGC2 swing to JNPG's RTSC on Tour Pro level?

Additionally, if your NDA allows it..

Are you able to share with us some of your round statistics?
I'd love to see some GIR/FIR numbers, among anything else you are able to share.

More like Links 2001 in some cases.

At least a couple of us were concerned about PG graphics from the beginning. Time does not stand still. It wasn't going to take long before PG, already looking dated in 2015, would look embarrassingly out of date. Had PP set the bar higher from the beginning, it might've saved them the time and trouble of upgrading the game now. Then again, I know next to nothing. ;)

I wonder if the rough properties are still the same, that was another issue with TGC, it was easy to avoid the rough, but if you did find it it was a joyless experience playing from it.  You had that ridiculous feature where you could de loft a shot and get 150% power, even then the rough would suck any life out of your shot...and do they have pot bunkers?

I have to be careful about what I say about this... the answer I would give you would compel me to go into specifics that are off limits, NDA wise.  Sorry...

This is in a gray area that I don't want to tread.  I can say that they're all lower percentage than TGC 1, on average.  Wish I could share more

I'm starting to sound like a broken record... I can't comfortably answer either question DoGgz.

Lol why is this thread even here anymore, i will take a guess at pot bunkers to go with a realistic links theme.......NO!   If this is indeed the case then frankly i will not be surprised, i remember when they announced the links theme in TGC, i was looking forward to it, but it was a massive letdown, and to favour pointless things like blinged up clubs and apparel over something limportant like pot bunkers just pushes me further away from any remote chance i had of entertaining the idea of TGC 2.  Yes they will of course improve the swing, maybe even the short game, which btw was worse than the ease off the tee, but HB do not want a realistic golf game, they want a watered down game that appeals to everyone, which is fine for their margins, but a million miles away from what i want.

HB has abandoned the one-size-fits-all mentality, have they not? Introducing difficulty levels will make a difference. How much of a difference remains to be seen. But it's a step in the right direction.
