To use 3 click without a meter would require a view of
90 degree to the left or right depending on golfer's swing.

Click swing tied to the animation should be and interesting experiment.
I think it could work with a 2-click action considering a golfswing takes 1 second to impact as appose to the current 3 seconds, 3-clicks will be too much to handle. 2-click also feels much more natural as a coil up and release action.
Don't believe a side-on view would be necessary as the human brain can surely process the action. The snap penalty would obviously needs to much less severe as to what we have now.

Hi Players,
After three weeks, and after trying to play in 3 click mode, I'm convinced that the third click makes no sense. Two clicks are enough.
1 st Click loads power
2 st Click starts the shot

Perhaps you should start your own thread to further discuss this.

Hi Crow357
I wrote here because with the release of patch 1.4.2.3 I asked if in a next patch, you could have a bar under the player's feet, and the elimination of the third click.

Under your proposed idea... Is the first click and click and hold? So click, hold until desired power, release?
Then the second click is the snap?

Still worthy of it's own thread, but whatever dude. I don't care.

The first click without hold is like the current one, when the player thinks he has given the right power, he makes the second click ... the snap.

I've no idea what you are talking about. If you are not holding the mouse button then it is impossible to create a 2 click method without removing a crucial factor. You need a click to start power, a click to set power and a click to determine accuracy.

Cmon you know, A.. Links had 2 click, which I use all the time. Click and hold, swing meter goes up, release when desired power id obtained... click again for snap/hit the ball. 2 click. As you know, PG doesnt have this.

The first click without hold is like the current one, when the player thinks he has given the right power, he makes the second click ... the snap.
In order for this to work the "snap area" would have to be dynamic. Meaning it would have to move to where ever your desired power point is on the meter. And that couldn't possible work unless you preset where on the meter that point is but then you're back to three clicks eventually. One to set you're intended power mark, one to initiate the swing and one to set your snap. And then you are combining the concept of power and snap into one single data point.
So the only way this can feasibly work is by utilizing a click and hold for the first swing.

Given where & what TW08 PC was for its time, it's super frustrating they didn't keep going with PC golf.
We'd likely have a GREAT game option there if they had...
First party original development with all the benefits that entails, as well as the PC side allowing modification and continuing additions (gear/courses/players, etc) just like has continued to this day with 08.

Just use there 3 click meter for example. It's the right size, moveable and it Never and I mean Never hesitates, no matter what courses you are playing and it actually looks cooler than this um meter. Don't get me started though. Being fair, I will say, most everything else in PG is much better than 08 but they did have some solid items.
