yep i have actually lost count of the straight shooting players i have seen, and its only the first week! TGCT may as well pull the plug or play with standard clubs. mebby, go play the leader at royal ethalwind, total straight shooter and he plays here apparently, thats even more worrying. I actually feel for jcat, divot and others at TGC i know like jimgem, all honest players from my experience, waste of time them playing tours.

I've also played several ghosts in turn order. It's a lot of fun but holy cow there are a ton of straight shooters out there. I'm talking not even a fraction off perfectly straight. Shocker but these are also the guys at the top of the leadeboarda.
Divot and I are in the same society and he gets close to the top (legitimately... When you play his ghost its crystal clear that he's playing with a legit controller) but it will be difficult for him to beat the same few guys that constantly win.
If straight shooters play in TGC TOUR or HB Official events, they will be removed from the tournaments and if they continue, likely banned.
Thank Mebby....I have never played with anything BUT legit equipment....otherwise, what is the point?

I agree.
What happens in a Society if there are straight shooters because there are several so far. I mean - dead straight. Not one pixel off line at least 90% of the time. I think I've hit one dead straight shot in all my rounds so far. I can get in a groove to where I hit several that are reasonably straight - well within the shot cone but still several degrees off from perfect but that's about it. Hitting nearly all of your shots DEAD PERFECTLY straight? Nah... impossible.
By the way - nice HIO on Caramel today! Got the notification while I was playing!

I think I saw the straight shooter that plays here as well. I always just assumed he was legit but now I have my doubts.

Seems like with TGC, where the loft and deloftex dials it in too precisely to go en yardages.
The tempo still had me baffled.
Went on the range and made swings where I was repeatedly making the backswing with the same quick stick motion and was getting a whole myriad of backswing speeds from very slow, slow, perfect, fast and very fast. There was no way on God's green earth the backswings I was doing were that varied. If anything they were all in the fast category, so how the game got me back swinging very slow I'll never know.
Is there any tutorial in the game as to how the tempo readings are arrived at? Or are they kept a mystery because HBS don't really know either, lol.
It probably doesn't help that I'm a 3C player at heart, but I can already feel my time on TGC2 isn't going to go beyond the end of this month, if it lasts that long, lol.

Hey Daz, at least you gave it a good try and appreciate your honest assessment of the game. Thanks for all of your feedback.. still not convinced enough to buy it just yet.

The graphics just don't grab me in TGC2 and I much prefer the look and feel of JNPG courses.
I'm just finding the controller swing hit and miss. Obviously some folks have it nailed down, but I feel like I'm making two swings the same but the tempo readings are so wildly different.
Even had 30 minutes on the range this morning to try and learn how the game interprets the tempo, but ended more confused than when I started, lol.
Oh well, time for some iRacing now, lol. Leave the golf till later.

I just cannot workout what is going on.
At least with JNPG you know the workings behind the tempo and how the ratio is factored in to the tempo. I've not found anything for TGC2 that explains it in detail to show what is the difference between a slow backswing and a perfect one.

i just noticed you were given the same advice elsewhere. Sorry about that.I have no hesitation. If I'm honest my swing is fairly fast, both back and down, which is why I'm totally perplexed when game tells me my swing was slow/slow. Make same swing on next shot it's perfect/fast.

I'm pretty lucky in that the tempo coded into the game basically matches up with my natural swing. But there are still times that I completely lose it and have to work to get it back
In my mind... you need a very slight pause at the top of the swing and then come down swiftly but not hard.

Thanks! First one so far....
The TGC2 API is able to detect straight shooters, so I am not the least bit worried in the legitimacy of tournaments if there IS such a thing these days......

Hey Daz,
Nice to see you giving the game a chance.
You probably do not want to hear this, but keep practicing....it took me about a week or so to finally have that "aha moment" and it dawned on me how to manage the swing.
It takes practice and repetition......after playing close to 150+ rounds between Beta and release, I can say I am FAR from mastering the swing, but I can manage the courses I play well enough to compete even with those using Player clubs.
Had a guy beat me by a stroke playing with Player clubs while I play TOUR clubs so I am pretty satisfied with that for now. Went head to head with this same user in beta and we went back and forth splitting the winnings in most of the Beta tournaments. He is really good and where I beat him is the tougher courses,,,,,,
Hope you figure TGC2's swing out and give you another Golf experience you can enjoy.

Maybe I'll start a pg society for all of us. Are there enough users here to make one happen?
Fire it up, while I'm still playing TGC2, I'll join.

I'm running with Player clubs at the mo, and find them challenging enough. Society I'm in is playing next event at Ocean Cay. Had a peruse earlier and fairways are about 5yds wide, lol. Round scores in 3 digits I'm expecting, lol.
I guess one plus side is my TGC2 swing won't mess with my JNPG 3C so I may stick it out a while longer, lol.
I just hope the Devs take on board all the feedback for TGC 2 and at least make an effort with some appropriate patching.

Sounds great....not a fan of those courses with bikini thong-wide fairways and pins tucked way too tight into bad locations.
The user created courses are where it is at for this game.
Anything by Tastegw, Reebdoog, Han, DDawg, the clvs, and RussWest are pretty darned good, IMO.
I am sure I am leaving some great designers out, but I think the trajectory of TGC2 courses will come in far more realistic than the TGC1 courses evolved into after a year or so....
I also think the Dev Team will respond to the feedback appropriately once they have the launch fires put out....

And I may stand corrected. I played another ghost round with one of the top guys. This round seemed very legit. Seems like a group honest (and insanely good) players!
