The same accusations have been made here about the JNPG beta testers. I've decided, as a JNPG beta tester, it goes with the territory. If the community were able to see the exchange within the beta tester group and between the group and the developers, they would recognize that beta testers are anything but 'fanboys'. I agree with DivotMaker, we generally give kudos where warranted, but are NOT AFRAID to rant when the developers 'screw up', in our opinion. We beta testers, at least at PP, gain nothing for our services other than any personal satisfaction that we may feel. Not ever having been a beta tester before, I can only assume that this is the case with most of us.

Lets see.  Graphics were improved but somehow looks worst than TGC1.  Added Tempo but its very easy to get perfect/perfect.  Added custom pins but only 4 pins?  Added career mode but it sucks.  Added new avatar but something still doesnt look right.   And no Alt shot, scramble, or greensomes.   All this for $40?    Well, at least its a "complete" game.

Vance,

Opinions vary, obviously. It has it's pusses and minuses just like JNPG.

You know I respect you and your opinion, but until you play it and give it a fair amount of gameplay time, it is hard to definitively have an opinion one way or another.....

I have, it's pretty good to me. You can set them up how you want them. It's better than the one they had for the first game.

Edit: for those of you playing TGC2 I have a question. It seems that the driving range is misleading. When I practice I seem to get my shots to go straighter. So I then think I'm ready and go start a round. All of a sudden I can't hit the ball like I did at the range? It's going left and right off the tee. I don't understand what I'm doing differently.

You're right, but doubt I'm gonna go spend $40 just to try it out.

FYI:  A good number of TGC simulator players left/sold their TGC sim licenses and migrated to PG sim.   Come this fall, I expect more will come.  Good news for PP.

I'd wager that might be somehow tied to the FPS performance being a little different on the courses and that is just enough variation to cause differences in swing tempo perhaps?

Seriously, have they animated a bent left elbow? Seriously!!?

What the hell is going on?

I find it very hard to comprehend a decision like that. Did they mocap someone's 14 year old nephew who has never played golf but won a frisbee comp once?

I am not surprised by this at all honestly. I think that JNPG is MUCH closer to a sim than TGC will ever be.  It's mainly a style choice on their behalf I think.  TGC2 is much better than TGC1 in terms of difficulty and physics but IMHO JNPG is still king in this category.

For me personally - there's a spot for both games.  I'm assuming that TGC2 will get the lighting issues resolved.  If not then I'm out.  It's THAT bad.

If you look at the opinions of folks like myself, Frank, Divot, JC and Buck... this group is full of people that truly love sim golf and JNPG was the first to really hit the mark.  TGC fell far short and was quickly abandoned because it got stale.  Of this same population a few really like TGC2 and a few do not.  So it's just appears to be one of those things that is either gonna click with you or it's not.  No harm - just personal preference.  I still think that JNPG is an awesome game and once they push things to the next level it will likely be me main go-to golf game.  But until then I'm going to enjoy TGC2 alongside JNPG.

Respect your opinions on TGC2. Don't necessarily agree with most of it. Gameplay is really good...REALLY good once you spend a fair amount of time with it, not just a couple of days. Learning curve is right up there with TOUR Pro with the controller here in this game. Sorry you feel differently.

I have to speak as i find i guess, off the tee and deck with tour clubs is pretty good, i have no issue with that, i found player clubs a bit underwhelming, but tour clubs is def better,  its just the short game that kills it for me, its not as nuanced as PG's the little deft touches are missing.  The pitch disappoints me again, still the stop on a dime stuff of TGC 1.  I wanted it to be good, and like i said off the tee and deck with tour clubs ,its is good...just a shame about the short game.

From JohnEric:

Quote

On PC,  it works about how it did on tgc1 from my experience.   TGC2 is also still plagued with seeing improper shot results  which is beyond baffling at this point.  I'm not a fan of being congratulated on a great putt only to have to tell them I missed it!

How can this many years go by and HB still can't figure out how to show us proper shot results of our opponents while playing live?   Wait,  I know,  it's because that don't anticipate anyone playing live while chatting and they do everything they can to discourage people from even wanting to.....  :o  :o  :o  :o

Don't get me wrong I have plenty of positive remarks to say about HB and TGC2,  but on this particular topic I speak many of our truths..  Just gotta do it....

LMAO.......

PG doesn't have any that crap

Safe assumption you would think. Then again, they did release the game in this condition. So, who knows? Maybe they think the lighting is just fine. Yes, you'll see some stunning views; but just as often, you'll see flat, pale, cartoon-like graphics. It's embarrassing, if you ask me.

I actually feel a bit for Jeric, that dude has waited so long for decent MP and it just aint happening, i knew they would not deliver a satisfying MP experience, its not their priority, never has been, they laud the ghost ball feature to compensate, but its just not the same.

If they do what they've indicated they will... then I have to agree.

Just FYI - I was considering installing a sim setup in my house and I may still eventually do it but I'm still recovering from emergency shoulder replacement surgery and I've got a long road ahead.  So those plans are on the backburner because there's no way I can swing a club right now - hell, I just recently started peeing right handed again and this is 3 months post-op!

Well to be fair, you are the one on the PG forum.

Why not go ask technical questions over there where you're more likely to get an answer?
