It's not hard to understand really - You're playing on a console so it's a lot easier to customise shaders objects and textures as the hardware is a known quantity. Also the development budget for the game was probably at least 100 times more than PG and TGC combined.
So true about the development budget.
Why is it though the likes of Rockstar. Playground Games, Naughty Dog etc. can have these sprawling environments running so smooth, yet in a much much smaller plot, some PG course layouts cripple even a decent gaming rig as far as FPS is concerned when situated in certain spots.
Cant just be budget related, maybe more to do with the coding and how the game reads/draws the environment?

Classic.Remember cowboys, keep your horse in the stable at night

Cant say I've been looking at ball bags of horses in the cold, lol, but I did laugh the other night when mine decided to have a crap while tethered up.

supergame yes, i just rode today all over the map, hunt a bit, fish a bit.
i only wished the time would go slower a bit, the days go very fast.
still, as graphics come i found ac origins even better landscapewise.
but ofcourse the voiceactings and missions are topnotch with rockstar.

....and how would not having 100 coders and 100 artists not help this? Where do you think the budget for a big games studio goes? Usually they run proprietary engines which is the main big difference and all the stuff I previously mentioned.

I read a article the other day that the cost to make this game is in the $100’s of millions..
I would imagine so. It’s almost eight years since the first Red Dead came out I think. That’s alot of time to spend money.

Yep, RDR came out in May 2010 and seen as a spiritual successor to 2004's Red Dead Revolver.

The open-world format allows for a level of engagement beyond the roughly 60 hours of plot and 500,000 lines of dialogue
I couldn’t imagine how long this took to come up with..

estimated cost of this game is about 300 million, i say.
but since they got 750 m just in one week, no big deal.
and form gta5 online, they made a few billions...amasing yes.
and because of all that money they can afford to hire all the topdesigners/programmers/voiceactors etc.
what amases me most is how smooth it runs and good it looks, just on an xbox s.

Just started playing this game a few weeks ago... I must say, very addicting and extremely satisfying for the money I paid. I am free roaming across the lands, hunting, fishing, camping, visiting new towns and abandoned areas.... and even the occasional robbery. haha Probably most the amazing and realistic game I have ever played.
