Is Wendy still making courses over there? he/she made about 3 for TGC and they were all no frills realistic designs, loved all of them. Arctic fury has some lovely courses in terms of looks but i have yet to play a course of his i really enjoyed in a golfing sense. Cannuck and taste are another two that plant beautifully without ever nailing a clutch of well designed holes, then you have reeb who is ok but has this obsession with super long courses. I do like Mikemike's courses, he keeps it simple but designs pretty well, as does Biggins, but he's given up i think.
I'm not sure I've ever played anything from Wendy. Cannuck's courses are good enough but I do agree with your comment regarding the design side of things. MikeMike's courses are awesome. I've REALLY enjoyed the two he has out there right now. Taste and Reeb are both talented designers. I like Carmel by Taste and I used to LOVE one of Reeb's courses that he hasn't ported to TGC 2019 yet (can't remember the name but it was fall theme course and reminded me of something I'd see in the Carolinas). But most of their stuff I leave behind honestly.
I play without assists which means I usually need a course that resembles something you'd see in real life. I can't stand some of the course that are 100% doglegs or double doglegs or split//multiple fairway landing options all over the place. With TGC's crappy overvhead map and not using the scout camera (personal choice of mine) those types of courses are very frustrating to play at best.
