TGC is in its' 3rd iteration and still can't compete with JNPG1's physics, real time swings and course design program. Lots of icing but little cake. I do agree, though, that more icing on JNPG would be nice. But I do love their cake.

Hopefully in the next iteration HB can rework the kitchen staff to produce a fresh take on their “chocolate cake”.
For me at least, it doesn’t need more types of frosting and sparkles and layers but rather a new base made from some slightly different and fresher ingredients.

I agree on the physics. I do not agree on the "real time swing" which is one of the slight issues I have with JNPG after playing TGC for some time. TGC's avatar is as close to real time as I think it's going to get. JNPG's avatar always has a slight lag which takes away some of immersion for me. This was often commented on in the early days after they released the new avatar and real-time swing. If JNPG is all you play then after a while you don't even notice it.
But ultimately... if I felt like JNPG had a real future then I'd most likely be dedicating most of playing time here. It's the better game and it has more potential than TGC in my opinion. But I'm highly skeptical as to whether that potential will ever be fully realized and for that reason, I'm sticking with TGC for most of my play.
I think many people either prefer TGC or they prefer JNPG. I don't think there are many that appreciate and like both games. I'm one of the few that falls into that camp. I can appreciate the pros/cons of both games. But ultimately I need to hitch my wagon to the game that plans on moving forward and I don't think JNPG is going anywhere.

I look at it this way. If I am looking for a challenging and feels real PC golfing experience I play JNPG RTSC and I do in the PGLS RTS league. If I am looking to just play video golf and have some fun I play TGC 2019. I love JNPG but right now I have no idea if there will be a new version of the game and have no hope that there will be any updates to current version. At least with TGC 2019 I know they are having patches and trying to improve game and that is why I split my time. To be honest if JNPG didn't have RTS I would have left a long time ago as I have no desire to click anymore and if more people over there would start playing RTS they would find a whole new game. I also believe that JNPG is the last time you will ever see 3C in a golf game and if there is a new version it will not be there anymore. The future is RTS and don't hate the messenger it's just what I believe.
RTSM is easily the most engaging and fun swing I've ever played in ANY golf game. When I play JNPG I usually use this but it requires some setup manipulation if I want to play on my couch. RTSC is pretty good but that annoying lag is there which kills the immersion for me. You really won't notice the lag if that's all you play but if you switch back and forth between TGC and JNPG then it will stick out like a sore thumb.

SO its fair to say JNPG2 is dead in the water? Why would they make it without 3 click as it must be 90% of regular players method of swing in JNPG

I have been switching between the two lately, yes that slight lag with PG's swing becomes noticeable, but its not a big deal as it fails to impact on shot or outcome, i have more annoyance with the putting between the two games regarding the insta break, that's way more annoying to me.
I've also given a bit of time now to master clubs, and its all about that tempo, i can get it almost all the time now. The dispersion in TGC is easy to master, once you work out what angle you need to hold the controller and more importantly keep it disciplined you can comfortably keep it in that blue band. Many people concentrate so much on the thumb element, but like with PG i find it better to focus more on how i hold the pad, slight tilts forward and back and left and right vertically can hep rid a natural fade etc.
The dispersion in PG's swing is way more granular, the slightest off can throw you 20 yds off, and you don't have a blue band of joy either, PG's is invisible and much narrower at TP level.

All good points for sure. I agree 1,000% on the holding the controller bit. That's exactly how I control things and I can hit the swing plane nearly dead center about 80% of the time. One cool thing they added in the last patch was that even if you are in the blue band on the swing plane but not dead center the ball will move a little offline. This adds a lot of shot dispersion and is a good change. But as you rightfully note, the shot dispersion in JNPG (at least on Tour Pro level) is still much higher and I like that a lot.
I'm hopeful the HBS will also adjust the tempo bands to behave the way they've made the swing plane behave. This will add a lot more shot dispersion as well.
And lastly - if HBS were to make the very top of the backswing equal something like 110% to 120% then it would add a lot to distance dispersion as well. Basically - they just need to do what JNPG has done with distance control where you can go for more distance if you want to but if you're not perfect you're risking a lot.
TGC adjusted the break right off the putter a little but it's still breaking a little too early so I agree with you there. It's one of those things that for whatever reason doesn't really bother me - you just have to know how it's going to behave and adjust accordingly. This does bother a lot of people though and I can respect that.

So both cakes have had flavours added (as sponge is not vanilla flavoured). Or am I missing the point you're trying to make?

Me too
In the last year HB very much shifted into a mode of eliminating any dissenting viewpoints.
Perhaps the new 2k relationship was part of the change?
I am not a big fan of the ban because I didn’t break any rules (not even close) and I just don’t think that’s a great way to foster conversation and a healthy forum (getting personal and just banning things you don’t like for random reasons).
But hey, it’s their forum and they wanted me gone and they got rid of me…
It certainly their business which customers they choose to eliminate from current and future purchase consideration.

I guess i could create another account but i'm not really interested in posting anything over there, i'm just not that invested in the game. I just use TGC as a change of pace, play a few rounds and rehash a few old courses and slowly build another. I'm joining the VR scene next week so won't be doing any designing for a while, assetto and PC2 are gonna get primary attention, cant wait.

That's honestly where I landed also - banned or not.
I really was only engaged again over there for the run up to TGC 2019 and to be in the mix if I liked what I saw.
And it just didn't move the needle enough for me, so it's all good.
Actually to me the funniest thought exercise is "what would I play with my uncle if PG went away tomorrow!"?
We did a poll on that before here and IIRC lots of people said Links - which would be of no interest to me.
Or we might go back to TW14 while the servers still work.
Possibly even TW08 on PC again since direct connection is so easy there and loads of courses exist (and are still being made).
It's a true shame that PG's model and structure isn't *way* more open to allow for modding and extending the experience.

That's sort of old/abandonware at this point though isn't it?
Looks like no updates in ages - still new courses and people playing it I wonder?
