This thread has maybe/probably done more harm now that more people know about this I’m guessing. Usually when cheats are found you don’t go around announcing them to a wider audience. I didn’t know about this until this thread popped up as I’m sure many others on here as well did not know.

I could have kept it quiet and used it myself but i have no interest in spoiling the game for myself, or i could have kept it quiet and not used it myself.  The exploit is the same as something that already exists for xbone and PS4 controllers, i'm pretty sure plenty of people know about it for those, it was only a matter of time before the steam any controller was also discovered, people can curse me for making it public and resulting in the controller tour limitations now imposed...i don't care, it affected me too remember.

not saying you should of kept it to yourself i'm just pointing out that every swing has some type of outside help. and its being used. so i also don't care . i dont play those ego tournaments any how.

Cheat Engine... we asked the developer to counter with the swing timing, so it could not be slowed down without major offline hits. That came in a couple of updates back.

Mouse axis... we can detect in most cases, through recognizing zero axis hits (which are only one part of how a movement swing with mouse is measured, as the tempo determines launch direction) though we find that Vertical swing needs more work as it returns false positives (it picks up the cheaper mice as snapping to angle, but produces better data to the same degree in the horizontal version of the swing) - an issue we have spoken about here in other threads. We trust that the developers are listening and taking notes for future work.

It is not that controller has been singled out unfairly... all swing-types we know are open to exploitation, but in the cases of the other two inputs, we have them covered to some extent. In the case of controller with this particular one, I have to say we don't.

The issue is that the detection of this exploit is so weak as to be virtually useless. It can literally make a genuinue controller that the game was designed around, set at Tour Pro, play as if Hacker level.

Anyone that wants to cheat is going to cheat.  I understand what you guys did and why you did it and there really is no perfect answer.

But I promise you that there are plenty of non-controller players out there cheating.

Clearly what we need here is a dedicated controller made by Trackman that specifically interfaces with PG2 in a way that Steam controller modification can't & won't impact.

A little birdie told me that may ship alongside PG3

its called a simulator ,Ted, and they do already exist...i do wonder why you dont play on one?

I would have bought one to place in one of the spare rooms on one of the lower levels wim. Probably the one with the changeable themed walls and authentic environmental sounds piped in. Do they 'pipe in' these days? They will if I say so!

I would have bought one but they're open to cheating. I could get my neighbour (the scratch golfer) to come in and play as me.

This brings up another point that I am surprised no one has mentioned yet.  How do you know if who you are playing is the person who made the account on the tournament sites and not someone else, like a sibling or a friend?  Again I say it is all folly to be concerned about cheaters and banning swing types.  Just simply enjoy the game.

+10 on this..

Short of physically sitting next to someone, it's essentially impossible to fully mitigate cheating.

My bet says that Andrew will retire long before PG2 is released. At my age, I won’t live long enough for PG3 much less PG4.

There is no way to stop the cheating and it is just a part of online gaming and always will be.  Yes there are detections for the mouse but these programs out there right now can find ways to hide it and nothing we can do about it just like the controller.  I worked on my controller swing for over nine months to get to a point where I could play TP and be half decent at it and was and I wasn't anywhere near the top but at least competitive.  Now I have to relearn a new swing and to be honest losing my zest by the minute to even play this game as its like the cup is half full.  I will continue to give it a whorl but with the release in 7 hours of Super Mega Baseball 2 maybe not as much as its just not as fun as it was a couple of weeks ago.  It was the right thing to do to ban the controller but the fact is the mouse is also being exploited and we all know it.

That is looking to be a really great game. The first series was ridiculously good. It shocked me how much I liked it.

The 1st game was really addicting. I love The Show and still play it on my PS3 but Super Mega Baseball is much quicker to play a game very good gameplay to boot. The new version looks awesome.

baseball? we used to play that in junior school, it was called rounders.  I'm surprised its even classed as a sport...terrible game. although it may be enjoyable as a computer game.   I have however just finished watching fearless on netflix about PBR ( bull riding ) That was awesome fairplay, i'm now officially a fan,  A VR force feedback bull riding game would be incredible.

Well DoGgz, try hitting a baseball coming at you at 100mph.  I cannot stand kickball aka football aka soccer.  To me its the most boring sport there is.  To each their own.  :)
