To the extent that we dont incur costs and user courses have no licensing issues I see no reason why we would not bundle them as Free DLC for consoles.

We are currently in negotiations with Quail Hollow, Congressional and Royal Troon.  It is highly likely these will be paid DLC due to licensing needs.  If  the volume of downloads is high enough we will continue to push for these deals and the more evidence we have of volume the easier it is for us to reduce the cost of the license per course which of course makes the DLC cheaper.  If the volume is not there then we will probably go with a different approach for consoles

Andrew, if you can bundle user made courses as free DLC, that will be a HUGE selling point for the game, especially if you have a bundle or two available at launch, to indicate to weary buyers that it's for real!  That's great news though, as I wasn't sure what the situation was for free DLC on the consoles, particularly the PS4.

Quail Hollow, Congressional and Royal Troon, would all be great real course licenses to attain.  The next time I run into Johnny Harris at the Hickory Tavern, I'll put in a plug for you on the Quail Hollow license  ;)  It sounds like you've got a good plan for this going forward and it's really encouraging to read this, and I'm sure I speak for others when I say this!

Free DLC for user created course will be huge indeed for consoles.   And bring on the licensed courses.

I'm going to pose a question that's probably a bit premature, but I know people who are already asking this in my circles... has any consideration been given to eventual Move implementation on the PS4, or Kinect implementation on the XBox One?  I'm just asking about "consideration", not "committment"  :)

JCAT you read my mind, I was watching someone on YouTube using the SKYTRACK system, and thought to myself that would be a great feature for the Kinect on XBOX,

Fingers crossed the devs. will implement this in PG, it worked great on the Tiger Woods game.

If something like Kinect support for the XBox One, or Move for the PS4 comes, I would imagine it would be well down the road.  They might be looking more into VR support by that time.  I personally think the Kinect boat has mostly sailed as I don't see much being built for it in any game genre right now.  I don't see much happening for the Move on the PS4 either.

I hope you're wrong as I will never be able to afford a simulator, or have room for one. The Move to me is the most realistic controller method you could use for a golf game. Couple that with VR, would be awesome. JNPG looks to be our last hope for ever getting Move support added to a current golf title, so keeping my fingers crossed.

I hope I'm wrong also, as I not only bought a Move for my PS3, I bought the SimStix golf club attachment for it and added some lead tape to the base of the SimStix to make it feel close to the weight of a club in my hands... it works great with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 in True-Aim mode.  I think it would work even better in JNPG, but reason tells me there's not enough of a market for it to come close to making it worth their while.

Hey guys,

Can't wait to see when PG gets on consoles. Been itching to play.

As for motion control support, the PlayStation VR I know WILL indeed have Move support. However, if you need the VR to use the Move on PS4, is something that remains to be seen.

I asked PlayStation, and they can't confirm this either. But, at least Move is coming back, it's just that you may need the VR headset which I'm sure will go on sale around the holiday season or maybe some special deals during launch week.

Would LOVE some Move golf though. Used to enjoy like you guys did.

The golf on Sports Champions 2 was amazing and played it a lot (Although there were only three courses). Even John Daly's game was solid with the Move.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing if PG will release on consoles soon, and maybe down the road, who knows, motion golf may make a return.

I would imagine Move and Kinect support would constitute "premium" (but hopefully not "milestone") DLC" for the PS4 and XBox One, but DLC that only a very small fraction of the console market would want to pay for.  I would consider this type of support something akin to simulator support, but on a much lower scale.  Would you be willing to pay $30 for Move support?  I throw that $30 figure out there as a guess; I don't know how many motion controller support "units" PP would have to sell to recoup their ROI on it.

Xbox One and PS4 will probably have completely different models due to the fact that you cant just add any number of courses to the hard drive.

As to Kinnect and Move, at this point obviously we would love to include them but it will depend on the complexity and return.   We will also be releasing a new Windows version around the same time that is DX11 only and hopefully has full 3D grass integrated with Xbox Live rather than Steam.

Ugh, I hope it isn't Xbox Live only?

Afterthought: How's the linux version running these days?

Interesting news on many fronts... you've broached something I hadn't thought about before, and that's a Windows/XBox Live version of JNPG that would step outside the Steam world  B)  I'll have to whittle on that one for a while to assess the pros and cons.  I know I've had mostly very positive experiences with the reliability and performance of XBox Live.  I can see where this would make for a seamless integration between the Windows 10 and XBox One versions of the game though.

DX11 only with the new Windows version?  Would that mean the XBox One version would also be a DX11 vintage?  I ask because I read a lot about the additional performance gains there are to be had with the XBox One, when using DirectX 12.

Doesn't Xbox Live require an annual subscription?

Could we perhaps get a way to direct IP connect (like 15-16 years ago in golf games) if we just want to link up with a known buddy and have no interest/derive no value from XB live?

I wonder what kind of fps and resolution will end up on the xbox one?  I think TGC had to go with 900p? to have playable fps.

Good question... I seem to get better frame rates at comparible graphics settings and resolutions on JNPG than I do TGC, but it's sort of an apples to oranges comparison.  TGC has 3D grass and more detailed and reflective water surfaces (IMO), which I think is responsible for a lot of that.  You can now turn the water surface quality from 2 to 1 in TGC, and realize about a 6 to 8% frame rate improvement.  JNPG on the XBox One will at least have access to Windows 10 and DX12, which gives it more potential for better performance.

I'm trying to read the tea leaves here early on as to whether PP is going to be tapping into DX12 for the XBox One version at the outset.  Whatever the case, I'm sure they're after 1080p as the resolution, and since no user made courses are going to make they're way to XBox Live without going to through PP's approval and Microsoft's certification process as "DLC", you're not going to see any DLC courses that are frame rate slugs.

Just curious Andrew, I never read anything further on the Playstation Partners program application mentioned above.  Has this been shored up and do you guys now have a Playstation 4 SDK?  I've been getting pinged with more questions about it from PS4 owners and I'd like to bring them up to date.
