I actually like playing with the AI.  If I just want to play a quick 9, I stick an AI opponent in the and have some match play fun.  Adds a little competition to the round.  Also, if playing against a friend, saddle each with an AI partner for some alt shot action.  There's a number of ways the AI can be fun.

Some online racers drive like fkin idiots, so having AI drivers based on real humans ain't always a good thing, lol.

True, but Turn 10 has done a good job over the last two years in filtering out the truly malicious drivers and mitigating the incompetencies to believable levels.  Somehow, they've implemented the Drivatars in a manner that I feel more like I'm racing against humans as opposed to AI.

If JNPG had a career mode comprised of AI golfers that were the equivalent of Forza 6's drivatars in personality and behavior; it would have something that would attract a new market segment.

Forum vibe is much improved after CF release and, now, AJ's update. Nice to see. I'm wondering if we'll see any water reflection improvements in the near future. Or do we have to wait for a Unity upgrade? Just wondering.

I'd say it'll have to wait for the Unity upgrade.  I tried real water reflections at Danville one day here and it brought my frames down to 15 (normally around 30).  I'm sure there are machines around that can handle it, but not the most of the computers around here.

Even tho he said "ani", he was talking about the computer AI.  Jerry is kinda the AI guy.  The avatars haven't been updated yet as far as I know  :(

So...... even though we are more than 18months into this game, there is still nothing planned as far as avatars are concerned.

Kind of makes you go all gooey inside that this doesn't appear to be even under consideration. Yet courses which can't be easy to compile are being added constantly, along with grass effects, 6th generation ball dynamics etc etc.

Wouldn't mind half as much if there was either a commitment from the dev's or a polite "sod off it isn't happening . period"

It seems you have missed some past posts concerning the development of the animations.  Motion capturerd animations are in the works.  This is neither an inexpensive nor simple addition to the game and will come in due time.  :)

Personally, I'd much rather have sophisticated ball physics and gameplay over animations as the development priority. In fact I'd prefer it if there was no ani at all. Bit like the difference between chase and cockpit view in racing games.

I agree 100% Mako.  It seems only I and you care about this issue.  It is a disgrace that in this day and age that male chauvinism is alive and well still.  The silence on this issue from PP is sad to say the least.  The game although with only one ani which is going to be replaced should never have been released without a female avatar from day one of beta.  I guess there is still some who think half the world does not play golf.

Like JoeF said, the Devs have commented previously about the animations and what is involved and what the plans are, but I guess because you haven't seen these posts it counts as them not commenting on it.

No.  Motion captured animationa ARE planned.  It is extremely expensive and in the works.  However, precious development time is not going to be spent on the existing avatars, as they will be discarded eventually.

To give some context to the Motion Captured animations....the Sr. Producer for that "other golf game" has stated they spent in excess of $1 million USD on their new mo-capped animations for their new game.......it ain't cheap folks.

Just curious, would it be possible to post an example or a link of what is meant by a  "Motion Captured animation"?  Thank you.

yeah we have commented several times on the new animations, what is involved and even that at the time we can afford to do the mocap it will be a very high priortity.  I do not understand why we are being slammed for this.

I think the reason is because in previous golf games on the pc you could select your golfer male or female.Maybe in newer pc golf games this may cost more to do as in time and money.I think that is the issue,it might seem easy to do but maybe there is a lot more involved than us older pc golfers dont realise.

"$1 million USD on their new mo-capped animations" Why? This is just crazy. Show us the ball from our POV, show us the club head from our POV. Let us hit the damn ball, not some dude stood 10 feet in front of us. Just like real life. Job done. Cost? Almost nothing.
