"$1 million USD on their new mo-capped animations" Why? This is just crazy. Show us the ball from our POV, show us the club head from our POV. Let us hit the damn ball, not some dude stood 10 feet in front of us. Just like real life. Job done. Cost? Almost nothing.
cost not much but would look like crap as far as a golf game is concerned. So how would you guage power without the avatar or meter?Dont say just feel of the swing please

I think the main problem you caused yourself is releasing the game as a full product with only one golf ani. Personally that's OK with me, I'm looking forward to the Mo cap anis when they arrive. That said, I can't think of any other golf game in the last 30 years or so since the original Leaderboard game, that was released with only one ani. Unfortunately, things like this give those who want to complain, something to complain about.yeah we have commented several times on the new animations, what is involved and even that at the time we can afford to do the mocap it will be a very high priortity. I do not understand why we are being slammed for this.

I'm not sure I like the idea of playing the game so it looks mostly like 9 seconds into this video -

I have no idea how long/how many resources it would take to put together a female avatar (I understand left-handed ones are much more complex). If this task is a couple of days or weeks, it might be worthwhile to create a female avatar (Harriet?). Unless mo-cap is planned prior to early 2017, I think it makes sense for the interim. I know it takes a bit of time away from develop of other things, but ....
I'm also not against turning off the avatar completely - probably would be my preference.

What's not to like? Isn't this the view you get IRL? Case in point: Tiger Woods Pga Tour 12 : The Masters (Wii) or TW11 (Wii)
Motion control, player view. eg. from a review "I've played a lot of golf games over the years, from the arcadey Hot Shots series to my all-time favorite, Links 2004. But I've never played anything quite like Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11. For someone new to the series on Wii, its MotionPlus controls aren't just a revelation -- they're the only way I want to play golf games from now on."
Good halfway house for PC golfers who can't go the whole simulator route. TW on Wii was brilliant in many ways (and not so good in others, admittedly). I stopped playing golf games when Wii online shut down, revived only by JNPG, but I still miss the motion controller way of playing. I even got the balance board to simulate leg weight transfer.
I know vast majority will want to play viewing an avatar, just saying it doesn't have to be the only way.

just hang on for the virtual reality headset, it looks impressive on the other golf game, I hope this is something PG will b e doing in the future.

Good point. PG will surely have to consider incorporating this in the future, by which time hardware prices should be falling.

The more I think about this, the more I realize that what is immediately missing more for me is the inability to personalize my golfer's appearance. If players had the to ability to do a few things to alter their golfer's facial hair, hair length and color, skin tone, even some minor facial structure changes, it would help give the game more of a personal identity. As distinctive as each of the courses are in the game, it just seems odd to be playing it with a player that looks just like everyone else's player, To whatever degree minor changes like the ones I've listed are are possible, I think it would help players bide their time, personalizing their players, while waiting for the day that new mo-capped animations are possible.

Depends on what the beta testing group finds. They got it on Sunday and PP is already working through some issues found.
