i watched a golf comp on t.v a few months back cant remember which one, 2 players where on the green with same read of putt, just 1 player was a good few feet further back, and the commentator said " he should get a good read from his opponents putt.. the 1st players ball slightly veered to the right near the hole, the 2nd player took this into consideration and adjusted his put for it, his ball went straight. when i played golf in real life we called it the rub of the green, same as what we call a members bounce.

The good, the bad and the downright ugly.

1. i like to think i'm playing the game at it it's hardest settings, because i have earned the right to do this because i actually like the game and practace the game so i can play on the hardest settings.
With this update you have made the game impossible to practice putting on "realistic" settings.
2. why didn't you procedural generate the "realistic" green settings so every golfer you are playing with gets the same "realistic" greens?.
I have never seen a put line that's breaking left suddenly break right ? because of the green conditions, BUT i could exept this if EVERYONE WHO HAS THE SAME PUT REACTS THE SAME WAY.
Reading these posts is like watching Zebedee come round on the Magic Roundabout again and again and again.

This failed to answer my question, if you answer mine I will answer yours.
I thought i did answer you question as to why i don't want to play "perfect" greens?
i think "realistic" greens is a great idea (if implemented in a different way).
i don't want anything removing, it''s your game do as you will.

That's a question no doubt but it wasn't the question I asked. The whole point of realistic greens is that they are by definition unpredictable, what you seem to want is that they become predictable so you can read the imperfections which kind of defeats the object of the exercise and would in fact make the 'realistic greens' less realistic. As that's would negate the point of having realistic settings in the first place I can tell you we have no plans to make the unpredictability more predictable

A golfing green is a living entity! It has a life of it's own and is growing, breathing and moving 24/7.
It has it's own micro eco system. Creatures and insects burrowing tirelessly beneath the surface.
The wind blows debris onto the finely manicured grass, while small stones work their to the surface.
A golfing green is not static, it is constantly in flux, that is why golfers remove loose debris and tap down spike and pitch marks to increase their chances of sinking their putt.
That is reality.
Even a ball on a billiard table can and does get pushed offline by the smallest piece of debris or chalk.
That too is reality and is accepted as the rub of the green by players.
All those mentioned above can and will, cause an unpredictable and random event. It may happen to one player but not another.
That is also reality, so get a life and stop complaining about it, or in other words, maybe it's time to just 'get real!'

1.This is a pc game NO the greens are not "a living entity"
2. "It has it's own micro eco system" again NO this is a pc game
3 " Creatures and insects burrowing tirelessly beneath the surface" NO sorry THIS IS A PC GAME
4. "The wind blows debris onto the finely manicured grass" NO ITS A PC GAME
5. "A golfing green is not static, it is constantly in flux" NOT IN A PC GAME.
What you are seeing is a randomised script simple.
But yes i realise i will have to live with it it's a devs decision, i hope the 5 people who use it enjoy it.

IT'S A PC SIMULATION OF THE GAME OF GOLF. It seems you've yet to grasp that concept.

REALLY, i expect this software works really well with a golf simulator. But simulation of golf on a PC/CONSOLE no it doesn't, and never will, you can't simulate a golf swing with a mouse/joy pad, that's impossible, you will be telling me next this game can improve your golf swing (using it as a game on a PC/CONSOLE) lol

You can go read my replies I guess but I pretty much made my points and summed up my thoughts on the subject in my previous post so on that note I will gracefully bow out.
One last thing Mike and then i'm finished with this subject.
How are people going to improve their putting SKILLS with "realistic" greens?

If you don't want to simulate playing the game of golf, why are you playing JNPG at all? What's the purpose? It's a fact that a golf ball doesn't run in real life like on a billiard table. Why has it to run like that in a video game? Honestly i don't get your point. You want it unrealistic? Why? Is it a better experience?REALLY, i expect this software works really well with a golf simulator. Golf is a game of skill, fore sure. But luck is involved as well. It's golf. You don't want to play golf? What do you want to play?

@in2minds:
Golf.
Involves.
Luck.
(Good & bad luck)
So does this game now as we are attempting to best simulate a real golf experience.
If you don't like the new realistic green settings, simply do not use them.
There really is no more to say.

I think you are confusing simulate and replicate.
All games on PC and console where sport is involved is simulating real life, be it golf, football, snooker, driving, baseball, basketball.
Controls are used on the mouse and controller to help you simulate what happens in the real world. Steering a car, playing a shot with a cue, kicking a ball, playing a golf shot etc.
So yes. You can simulate a golf swing with a mouse or controller, but not replicate it.
SIMULATE = imitate the character or appearance of
REPLICATE = make an exact copy of, reproduce

This update by my opinion is swell for some players and a disaster for others. I for one think the cup dynamic are over done. I do not want edge putts sucked into the hole but now just breath on the edge of the cup and "REJECTED". So IMO a tad over done. But close to being great.
Chipping and pitching is improved. I don't see any bad in those changes. But I'll rant and rave about them anyway. Bunker play is another story. Still no penalty for a plugged lie. All I see is a bit more roll out on those shots. Same as a not plugged lie. So that is still not right.
Wind effects on the the golf ball is improved. Took nearly two years to get any movement from wind on the ball below 18 mph. But it is now working properly.
Perfect Golf Version II is a swell new game. Why version Two you might ask? All the new changes and new features. This is like a new game.
Thank you for wind settings being moved to the course set up screen.

You best play with the wind turned off as well then. Don't want some random gust of wind in the game causing you to lose.

What control method are you on?
Plugged lies are very challenging to get out of for me on RTS-C
