I think I would buy both, a good PC Non Arcade version of any golf sim not only needs a good course designer for sustainability, it also requires backing financially.
Links survived due to its patches and overall customization, plus when it came out in the early 90"s it was ground braking.
I know have both this and the Golf Club and enjoy both, although TGC doesnt have the range of customizations ingame this has, as a purest I would put this ahead, but both play and look great.
When I played Links, which I did on my old machine 01 and 03, I couldnt wait to shelve out for the next charged course, be it from Mike, Wayne or any of the other great designers.
Moving to the HD Textures was a big step forward, I never could work out the APCD mainly because I never applied myself to it, so I designed for Tigerwoods series instead, being Australian I am hoping sometime to do some of our great courses, again until EA pulled the plug on PC because they realized they could get more money out of consol, up until then each years new game was eagerly awaited and folks shelved out far more than you will here because we knew their were Improvements to the game each year.
From what I have heard Windows ten will be around for the next decade, I own the game, bought it when a price was announced, I also have windows ten, and run it through Steam.
This game is far superior to that God aweful kiddy arcade thing EA tried to make online for PC and that cost heaps to buy if you wanted to go anywere with it.
If I am going to only get major Improvements to the game through a windows 10 version with Patches and pay for it I will.
In any format I believe this game has a big future, but only if those behind it get reward for their efforts while enjoying the game themselves, otherwise in time they might just walk away from it.
Thanks OGT for providing an additional outlet to playing this game online, hope it has a bright long future as well.
