I don't see why they can't include a DX11 option on the Steam version for users with compatible GPUs and Windows 7 and newer operating systems.

Then what do you tell Mac and Linux users?

NO ONE HAS SAID CAREER MODE WILL NOT BE IN THE STEAM VERSION.

I don't know why you people think it won't be.  I guess you just have to make stuff up to complain about.

Crow, I've responded to this in PM for reasons that will make themselves apparent.

~100 votes into this poll now and it's not shaping up as strongly against the Windows 10 version as I thought it would be.  I expected 30 to 35% of current Steam version owners to say they wouldn't buy the Windows 10 version, yet to date, only 16% have said they wouldn't.   This tells me that even the hardcore owners are thirsting for a gaming experience that's more 'next-gen'.  I like the discussion we're having here and I find that I'm getting a little more educated as to why the abstainers feel the way they do, even though I'm nowhere near being in their camp.

I don't think you can speak for everybody mate. I have barely played the game as I have been waiting for all the kinks to be ironed out and the arrival of the career mode which was always promised if not implied. I don't have an interest in playing online so as far as I'm concerned I have not been given value for money because the game is half finished and now I'm told it's likely I'll have to buy the game again.

Explain to me why someone in my position should be happy to shell out money again?

How about the effect of the latest collection of application programming interfaces (API's) in the form of DirectX 11 on the game's overall performance?  This will give the devs better and more efficient tools with which to iron out many of the kinks currently seen in the game.

Could you cite an official quote from Perfect Parallel in which they definitely stated that there would be a career mode in the Steam version of the current game?  I've followed the game very closely since 2013, and I can't recall seeing it in black and white.  Career mode is a stated feature of the Windows 10 version, so that's another reason to shell out money, IMO.

If you can honestly look at Unity 5.5 and SpeedTree instancing, and not see what a profound impact that will have on the game, you're looking at the game with filtered lenses.  It's not only going to look like a new game, it's going to play like a new game, IMO.  I just can't see the long term benefits of Perfect Parallel staying mired down on older OS's,  in pursuit of an upgrade path that's going to require the support of more dynamic display, processing, and interface technologies.

So I'm using win7 Direct X11 right now. If PG goes win10 and it's "next generation" graphics etc. Then I will buy win10, in a heartbeat, or just as soon as my budget allows for it..

I've seen digital license keys for many different versions of w10 for sale on eBay as low as $25 over time.

Spent $35 on one for my uncle.  ( I was in for free from going to w10 early)

I have my machine on a dual boot allowing me to chose either Win 7 Ultimate 64 or Win 10 Pro 64 and I can happily say that apart from a few pieces of software- mostly work related and a couple of media players, Win 10 gives less errors, higher framerates and lower temperatures on a like for like with Win 7.

I was a long time windows 8 hater and detested that OS but have grown to love Win 10 for its simplicity and sturdyness- I would recommend everyone go to Win 10 unless they have specific software that is known not to work in Win 10 which the list is getting progressivley shorter

They had plans for a tournament/ Career mode from the outset and any golf game named Perfect Golf has a high bar to pass imho.

As for your blathering's about Windows 10 and Directx11 could you quote where I have said anything negative about them?

I found this post from Mike Jones on the Facebook page about career mode:

"We won't have a fully fledged career mode in PG before the full release of the game. We have discussed it and what we will probably do is have a comprehensive career mode as DLC later in the year for people who love to play that mode of play. This will enable us to put all our resources into it and make it something special rather than simply a glorified season mode""We won't have a fully fledged career mode in PG before the full release of the game. Would you be happy with a career mode for the Steam version offered as DLC (and I'm betting he means premium DLC)? Would that be that much different than buying another, enhanced version of the overall game to get career mode?

As for my blatherings about  Windows 10 and DirectX 11, I'm not blathering about them because you've said anything negative about them. I'm extolling their virtues to try to point out how they can take this game to a new level that will make it a significantly better game than it is today.

Yes, very different if it means having to install another operating system

I can understand that, but let me ask you something... did you consider installing Windows 10 when Microsoft was offering it as a free upgrade for what seemed like almost a year?  I know I ignored the offer for months, as a Windows 8.1 owner, but I finally caved with about 6 weeks to go.  Once I got it installed and saw how much better it was than Windows 8.1, I kicked myself for not doing it earlier.

The other point you may be missing here Gravedodger, is that there will be performance, feature, and appearance perks that require Windows 10 that you'll miss out on if you don't use Windows 10.  Career mode isn't going to be an inexpensive proposition for PP, especially one as deep as what they've got in mind.  At the very least, I can't see them offering Career mode for the Steam version at anything less than a premium DLC.  Then again, they may decide that their return on investment for doing so may not be there with the currently installed Steam userbase.

Don't worry JCat04 I haven't missed the 'other' points and I did download and test Win10 when it was free but unfortunately I have some programs needed for work that are not compatible with it so I have to stick with Win7.

So, I can either go to the expense of buying another PC just for JNPG or live with an inferior version when the change happens  :(

BTW, Win10 can still be got for free, legally.

It sounds like your options are still out there Gravedodger.  I did not realize that you can still get Windows 10 free, but I'm glad it still is for those who have a change of heart.  I just have a strong hunch that there are going to be so many advantages to the Windows 10 version of JNPG that it's going to be hard to resist not taking whatever measures you can to run it.  There I go... blathering about Windows 10 again, please forgive me  ;)

I suppose another option I could do is a dual boot system but that will require a full purchase of Win10 not the free upgrade version ... and to make the whole reboot as slick and fast as possible it would require another SSD because let's face it, once you use an SSD hard drive you can't go back to the slow lane hehe!

In what year were they planning on releasing this dlc? Is this a post from this year? Or did they miss the mark?

A release date for the proposed DLC was never given.  The Facebook post I quoted above was from September 15th, 2015.  They didn't miss a mark because they never definitively set one.
