Cmon, it even says "later in the year" to me and prolly the rest of the free world that means sometime in 2015.

I can easily see how you can take it that way, but in my eyes, when someone says 'what we *probably* will do is release it later in the year' doesn't sound like a commitment I could hang my hat on.

I find it interesting that with 107 votes in on this poll, only 16% of current Steam version owners have indicated they would not purchase a Windows 10, XBox One, PS4 version of the game going forward.  Is anyone else surprised by that low number?  I honestly thought it would be 30 to 35%.

Yeah, that's the way we should approach that stuff.  He actually made a couple of valid points this time and lured me in, but the underlying motive was trollish.  Thanks for pulling the blanket over it  :)

Just shows how numbers can be misleading.

If the customer base was 107 then 17 lost customers might not be a big deal. On the otherhand, if you're running a business it's all lost money.

Now, if the customer base was 2000, 16% would be 320 unsold. If it were my business I'd be worried.

It's a good practice to be pretty skeptical of any poster who's account is brand new yet they immediately jump right in and start arguing and posting negative commentary.

That's just not how a genuinely new forum user starts out typically.

All valid points clubcaptain, but the other side of the coin is that this poll isn't really taking into account the number of potential buyers there are out there who are waiting on a Windows 10, or XBox One version that doesn't bind them to Steam.  I'd wager that those numbers would more than offset the 16% they would lose from their current base, especially when considering that you're bringing in a new platform userbase with the XBox One.

Apart from the people who frequent this forum where are all the other "buyers that are out there" ?

The numbers generated by your poll are obviously from the converted, meaning that in general terms they are pro the game albeit with some understandable misgivings here and there, nothing to do with WIN10. So the 16% know about the game and don't have to be converted to it. "Those out there" are NIL at the moment. What is going to galvanise them or even inform them. Is it just that a "new" game will appear in the console online store ?

Whether you have many clients or a few you have to maximise what you have.

Where are the other buyers who are out there that aren't tuned in here?  Well, according to SteamSpy, there are between 19,000 and 23,000 owners of JNPG out there right now.  I don't know how to factor what happened here in this poll to the other 18,893 (minimum) current JNPG owners who didn't vote in this poll.  Since they don't sign up, or don't bother to vote in a message forum poll, they're probably less likely to have as passionate, or as clearcut an opinion on it.  I play people in the lobby who aren't members of this forum and act like they don't know what I'm talking about when I reference it.

I don't really know how the Microsoft store markets its PC games because I rarely shop for PC games there.  I know it will get headlines at gaming webzines because it'll be in the Microsoft store, and that should give it a lift out of the gate.  Better yet, if it's released simultaneously with the XBox One version, that conjunction alone will generate some interest, as cross-play is an emerging trend.  XBox Live does a pretty good job of presenting new games.  I think JNPG will benefit from this.

At minimum, the same active user base will switch to Win10/xbox one.   For an estimated PG upgrade price of $20-35(my educated speculation), free or $25 win10 license, and SSD($40) dual boot if needed, there's really no good excuse to not upgrade.

It's all good IMO.  All these death talks and constant worries are nonsense.   :)

Btw, Georgia Pines (Augusta), Pebble Beach, Cypress, TPC Avenel, TPC Deere Run, and some others have just been released.  These are great courses.  Beautifully created using LIDAR!

Having already bought the game are we being told that we have to buy it again if we want the W 10 version ?

If so, that doesn't seem fair.

We aren't really being told anything yet, but I would strongly suspect this will be the case.  First off, you'll have to obtain the Windows 10 version through a different vendor.  I don't think Microsoft is going to confirm that you own a Steam version of the the game, which is now almost two years old as an Early Access title, and then grant you the rights to download the much improved, multiple feature added version that they are now selling.

Would it make it easier to justify as a separate purchase if they called it "Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf 2"?  It will certainly have changed so radically from what we have now that a new SKU is justified IMO.  If Perfect Parallel goes the 'new title' route, as I suspect they will, it will be no different than HB Studios releasing The Golf Club 2, which is undergoing changes and upgrades of similar scale as JNPG W10, as they plan to do in March or April, as a new stand alone title.

I think you're correct JCat, a completely new version is probably the wisest move for PP and the least complicated one for joe public.

I know most of this topic is nothing more than speculation at this time but my hope is the version we have now is not completely left behind when the newer version lands.

Any new version will probably contain a bunch of DX11 specific stuff that will not work on DX9.  eg.  3D Grass.  As a result it is highly likely that we will release a new version all togehter.

This does not mean that we will not continue to add new stuff to the existing DX9 Steam game because we will continue to support and add to it.

At this point we do not even know if the Windows 10 version will be through Steam or Microsoft Store.  But since it will be using the XBOX Live multiplayer it is possible that Steam is not the right place for it.

A lot of speculation and not a lot of answers at this point.  The reason is we dont have any yet.  As soon as we know and are in a position to communicate we will do so.

Those are some pretty solid numbers, but still scratch my head on how true that could be when this game's daily average per user is only around 60 or so.   Which makes sense more in terms of the poll and the number of votes you received.

http://steamcharts.com/app/288140

But great question... if these numbers are true, where is everyone?   I understand not everyone is into joining forums, but if even a fraction of these people would vote, you would probably have much better numbers for your poll.

So if it is sold through micosoft store those running windows 10 will probably need a legit copy of the operating system.I would not be buying if this was the case as im sure most players are NOT using a legit windows 10 os.
