Rob you've been around here long enough to know why anyone would be tapped out on this topic in general.

This goes back, what..a year now? to the Season Pass stuff..

I was on the wrong side of that way back when and I really regret it.

The resistance to basically "any more payments" that seems inherent in so many these days (especially with App Store proliferation and devaluing of software) has led us here in PG to a worse product arguably.

There was a time when, given a Season Pass subscription concept, we might have had a central course repository and distribution and fully integrated ratings/rankings/downloads, all add-ons and upgrades included as time went on, etc..

That's of course a whole separate subject that is now gone, but it's sad thing we went the other direction as a result of too many of us being cheap asses with our initial reactions to that (myself was VERY much included at the time)..

If someone bought the Steam version within a few months of the new version coming out, I won't be surprised if they offer some options/concessions.  The rest of us have very very little to complain about.  Even the most expensive purchase of this was the ridiculously low $35 (much less for a lot of us of course).

And if anyone bought the game for "what is coming" - Sorry, that is on you.  You don't buy a car that can't yet drive the roads you want to drive on a promise of "feature coming", nor should you do that w/ Software.  Mad at PP for not bringing some aspect or feature and feeling "wronged", you should PM them and get a refund.

Here's the main takeaway guys... To have a game you are interested in playing, expect it to require anywhere from $50-80/year.  Whether that is new versions, or a subscription, etc - This is simply the world we live in now.

There is no going back to "I bought it and played it for years off of my old CD, etc"

Btw:  The old links install is still there if you want it.  Heck, you can find TGC on clearance all over the place if you need arcade golf too.

All very good points, Ted.. but I still think the poll is valid and gives an idea to what other's intentions are moving forward.   I could be wrong, but the undertone of some of the responses here are geared towards what will be released in the future.  It also shows if people will either upgrade for this game or have already upgraded and will outright buy the game or not buy it at all, simply because it doesn't meet their personal expectations.  I see nothing wrong with that.  I also get the feeling that if people are going to pay 50-80 a year for the game, they want a complete game, not another early access version.   Some don't care about that, many do and I don't think that has anything to do with being a "cheap ass".

I will purchase the WIndows 10 version as long as it isn't just the Steam version reheated. Career mode is a must along with player stats.

It's because of Xbox one cross play?

If absurdity prevails and Windows 10 is required for Career Mode, many will delete the game and future purchases will be lost.

Your opinion and not a very logical one. You assume to think everyone is like you a MS hater. In fact Win 10 is the best OS that has been produced and your view of the publisher is swaying your  move to it. They even gave you a free upgrade path and yet you still refused to use it. People like you have absolutely no rights to bitch or complain about being left in the dark as software moves into the future. You keep Win 8.1 it it was a great OS but you will eventually not be playing anything as developers do not develop for dead OS's.

Nope. Sales figures don't mean anything to me, just sheeple bending like reeds in the wind.

Making use of the free and wonderfully simple Classic Shell  utility gives me exactly what I want, and nothing that I don't.

Career Mode and 3D Grass need to be 8.1 options ...

Oh well, keep missing out.  Good luck trying to play directX12 games that will be coming out.  You cannot play them without Windows 10.

ps...I do not see the relevance of calling people sheeple just because they update to the best OS going, and could for "FREE" the first year it was out.  How is using a new OS for FREE being akin to being sheeple?

Wild accusations of being an MS hater is not very logical. Add to that the nebulous debate over "which OS is best", which then makes the discussion of a free update wholly irrelevant. Supposed tech junkies should refrain from making ludicrous statements (perhaps the light of reality will help here). Keep running to embrace the "latest/best", the former obviously being true, the latter being nothing of the sort.

Oh well, keep getting drawn into OS upgrades to play an extension of a game like Career Mode when none should be required. Career Mode was available all the way back on L2K3, it was simple, effective, and it worked.

p.s. The relevance of describing "sheeple" as those who feel they must embrace every whim that comes along is that it is a valid observation. Many issues need to be taken into consideration when moving to a new OS, plain and simple. Have a nice day.

Maybe it would be a good idea to clear up what the differences between the Win 10 and the steam version will be.

Communication isn't a bad thing.

I am in with the Win 10 version because it brings my 1080 gtx tu use - what isn't the case right now.

I agree, but maybe we should all also have some patience here...

The Devs didn't start this thread that has spiraled into a speculation bomb..

Definitely not on them to respond to any/everything that somebody decides to start up a thread about in here.  (in my view anyhow)

Yea - a bit of a chicken and egg thing going on here.  People speculate due to lack of communication and the lack of communication is likely due to the wild reactions when things don't go 100% according to what was communicated.  It's a lose/lose situation honestly.

I have absolutely no problem to wait for any info. i am sold on the Win10 version, alone for the technical improvements.

Probably there isn't a even final decision made as of yet, with how much man power and with what features the steam version is supported in the future.

If by 'no one' you mean a member of the development team, your are correct. They haven't said anything to clarify the issue or to help curtail the concerns of the PP membership.

If by 'no one' you mean the PP membership, it doesn't matter what they think will or will not be included in the Windows 10 version or a console version. They can only request or speculate. We, including me, have absolutely no insight into the development plans outside of what the developers disclose.

I'll make my decision on what I'll do when the developers provide factually information.

Time to lock this topic, it only breeds confusion and conflict. It's too bad that this forum periodically gets sucked into the 'fake news' phenomena.

Career mode was discussed by the devs before there ever was an Xbox version, so they always had it as a plan for the Steam version.

At this time, there are no plans to include DX11 support in the steam version as it must support Macs and Linux.

I don't see why they can't include a DX11 option on the Steam version for users with compatible GPUs and Windows 7 and newer operating systems.
