Maxie, what's the basis for this conclusion??
The basis is that im guessing 90% of the current players using windows 10 are not playing using a legit version of windows 10

How do you come to that conclusion? That is a pretty broad assumption.....

What would be the point in using a pirate copy when Windows 10 was free?

If that is indeed true, then how do you come up with the claim that 90% of PG users using a pirated copy?

Just to be clear, this is not just Windows 10 OS, but the collective of all Windows OS's. I read that the pirated percentage is only 19% in the USA, whereas Indonesia is 86%. The article I saw on this said the global rate was 57%, but that was 2014.
To your earlier point though, it would be foolish and unethical for Perfect Parallel to code the game such that it would be sure to run on a pirated OS!

Those are some pretty solid numbers, but still scratch my head on how true that could be when this game's daily average per user is only around 60 or so. Which makes sense more in terms of the poll and the number of votes you received.
http://steamcharts.com/app/288140
But great question... if these numbers are true, where is everyone? I understand not everyone is into joining forums, but if even a fraction of these people would vote, you would probably have much better numbers for your poll.
I think it's a case of the fact that they may have sold as many as 23,000 copies of the game, but a large majority of those players are inactive now. I bought Stellaris the day it was released, but haven't touched it since the first week. One thing I wonder about when I see activity charts like that is whether they capture numbers for all the people who are signed into the game, or do they only capture those who are in the multiplayer lobby? I ask because 3/4 of the time when I'm on, I'm either playing in a tournament with OGT or PGLS or playing a solo round against a recorded player, or by myself. Neither of those would show in the numbers if they only count the players who are in the multiplayer lobby.
You're right though Rob; I'm sure this poll wouldn't represent the average user very well... I just don't know which direction the results would shift if they were to vote on it.

The poll results don't surprise me in the least. Most of us here have likely been here for over a year and would have no issue spending another $20-35 for the next version of the game. But, I'd be upset if I recently bought the game and then, in less than 8 or 10 months, had to pay for another version with more bells and whistles. (I know you wouldn't have to buy the new version, but most would want the latest version.) So, if you are a "long-time" owner, you'd likely buy the Win10 version; if you're a "short-time" owner, you'd not be happy to buy the newer version.

That's why it would be smart to offer a discount to current owners of the Steam version.

You do realize that the past 25 years of video gaming it has been absolutely common practice and totally normal to do precisely what you described....but not pay $35 each year...more often $50-70!

John, anyone playing JNPG online shows in the multiplayer lobby regardless of whether they are playing multiplayer or single player.

Thanks Acrilix; I did not know that. Wow... that being the case, there are a lot less people playing this game at any given time than I thought. Being a rotating shift worker, I find myself in the game at any hour of the day, seven days a week. I've seen anywhere from 28 to 130 players in the "lobby" when I've gone into the section of it which shows the count.
