I don't recognise that. What does it  mean ?

I suppose it's hard to define, no question, but basically some combination of variables that make up the shot and physics interactions (launch/in air/ground contact) that all work together to give a huge array of outcomes so that on similar shot situations you are seeing slight variations at all times, if not large variations depending upon your skill, temperament at the time, etc.

As soon as you're comfortable with  the mechanics, layout and options it becomes what you have described

I just haven't found that to be the case honestly...

Even after all this time on PG, I still find the gameplay itself compelling and the shot outcomes varied and interesting.

And I'm only playing RTS-C.
I suspect it would be even more varied and interesting over time still if I were on RTS-M or still on MS (but I enjoy the couch gaming now)

(I apologize for removing your coloration/emphasis. I'm on the lighter forum theme and it was unreadable with those particular colors - applies to the mobile theme also)

There just isn't that much to talk about.

I still have some issues with balance of difficulty with the the swing mechanic(s), some shots are still not spot on - but there is no feedback by the devs. Nothing to complain about - they don't need to give feedback. But then, there is no further need to post about it.

This holds true for other things as well. Game hasn't changed that much the last half year. It quite natural, that there isn't that much buzz in the forums.

That will change when the big update (or the new game) drops. Only when!? I would say that we have to wait for that at least another 3 to 4 months.

Patience!!

Sorry Frank, but I have to respectfully disagree with you on 2 points. There are things to talk about, as you later admitted even for yourself. You are right that given the lack of dev responses recently there is little incentive in doing so. The second point is your opinion that they don't need to give feedback. The very lack of feedback from the community because of this I would argue belies this. And patience is something I've shown a lot of in the past several years.  I finally broke down and checked out TGC. TGC2 is releasing in late June...hmmm. I wonder how many others are thinking the same thing?

I'm certainly thinking the same thing.

TGC2 will be an interesting development point when you consider there is a close tie between TGC and PG. There is a cross-over of opinions on the forums and both developers are of course interested in what the public want in a title. If HB Studios are smart they will consider all sorts of improvements for TGC2.

If it looks good and plays good and there's a good solid competition environment it might just be good.

TGC players love their dial a distance, 190 yard de-lofted lob wedges from thick rough, auto putt 10 footers, lofted up 3 irons and 4 irons, constant scoring in the 50's etc.....

TGC2 will not deliver challenging game play.

I will buy it, because that is what I do, but I guarantee, i will smoke it inside 24 hours.

This place may not beat them graphically, or amount of courses.

But PG has TGC beat hands down in the real courses creation, and challenging steep learning curve game play.

This is the better game IMHO, but people being what they are, they want easy, no challenge, so unfortunately the better game goes almost unnoticed.

I will buy TGC2 and about 10 hours in it will be shelved just like TGC1. Gameplay sucks and that is why I play not to look at a pretty course.

Doesn't matter.  You either believe what is being said above and disregard TGC altogether.  Or investing in TGC and forming your own opinion based on 1st hand experience.

Because if history proves me right the makers of the game are not catering to the sim crowd but to the masses who just want to flick a controller and shoot 55 everytime out as that is the base of the game.  Its pretty to look at and they sold a bunch of copies and why make it hard to play when their base are not looking for that.  Its just like the TW series where it became so easy to shoot -20 that any serious gamer quit playing there is a market for the crowd that wants easy and TGC1 was easy so don't expect much different with volume 2.  Just my two cents.

This thread... heh.   We get a little tease on 3D grass and it turns into another game bashing thread.   Too funny.

While I can appreciate the efforts and the video of just the 3D grass (looks very promising), there are still a ton of open questions about where this game is headed... I guess as others have said, "the devs don't owe us nothing", but as a consumer, I still would like to know if an update is coming to this version, will there be any new added features that we can check out, new official courses, perhaps a new avatar, maybe some new clubs in the bag (purchase or free?), soundscripts???  Or do we simply just "have patience" and wait until the next version of the game?

It seems pointless to try and prod the developers into regular updates on the status of the game. It appears they have no interest in keeping their base engaged.

I guess I'm a little more cautiously optimistic than you are about TGC2 but you may be right. It's hard to imagine them completely overhauling the gameplay from TGC1. So I understand your pessimism.

I'll buy it on day one either way though and hope for the best.

They are adding difficulty levels to TGC2 so there is no reason they can't keep both the casual and the hardcore golfer happy.

JNPG has a whole range of swing levels and types to please casual golfers and serious golfers.  I wonder why more TGC fans didn't take to JNPG if gameplay was an issue?  I see several people saying "they just want to hit every shot straight and score in the 50s."

Isn't that possible on JNPG with swing aids on maximum?

Edit:  Not just the swing, but the course set up options as well (soft greens/no wind/easy pins) allow for a casual experience that would enable low scoring.

Are these options available in TGC?

Doesn't it have more to do with the graphics and ancillary things than the gameplay?

I always thought it was popular because it was on Xbox and PS4 and it was fairly easy to hit straight and get low scores.

Yes... I believe it has to do mostly with graphics. Additionally, a large majority of the TGC player base are console users.

And it has a lot to do with marketing. TGC is topic on the big gaming sites - and that it looks pretty good and has bells and whistles certainly doesn't hurt. JNPG is almost invisible. How can you expect huge sale numbers, if only a small base of fans (mostly coming from links) even know about it?

I think one other thing that comes into play is that even though you CAN play JNPG on the easiest level and have it play pretty close to TGC, most people don't like the perception of playing on an easy level. They immediately jump to TP and then say the game is too hard.
