Wow that looks awesome but I could be in that rough for awhile with the way my wedge play is right now.

I'm very impressed with the look of the turf effects rough. It doesn't look as 'uniform' in color, which is good, as I'd thought it would appear based on the early Turf Effects videos I'd seen from NVIDIA. I also like the blended transition lines between first-cut and fairway and first-cut and heavy rough.

I'm looking forward to learning how we utilise Turf Effects in CF.

Thanks for sharing Mike. It would be cool to see a few holes of it in action. Maybe in a future Twitch broadcast? I think the Hacker deserves a little more time in the spotlight before Mike (or Lydia Ko) fires him. ![]()

Now look how this thread has turned out... Ted Ball, did you have any idea what a tremendous service you were doing this community when you initiated it?

This should be done by the devs on a consistent basis. If, as stated, the devs read the threads, it shouldn't be that hard to add a comment about what they are working on at the moment. I get they are busy, a small group, and so forth. It obviously does not have to be much, just toss us a bone of any kind.

I was using the free cam on that video and looking around in real time at 60fps. We still need to make performance tweaks with Unity 5.5 but the TE has a relatively minor impact on FPS as the rendering takes place on the GPU, it's more a matter optimising the PG code and not the rendering code as we get in excess of 90 fps when playing the same scene with just a freecam outside of PG.
BTW I have an i5 cpu with a nvidia 770 gtx - hardly cutting edge hardware.

I'm really glad to hear that. Maybe Pappy's system, and those like it, will be just fine with the new JNPG. We will see.
Thanks for the post and update.

I'm glad you posted this information. I know a lot of people will look at the scenes in your video and say that it will chug with that level of detail in the grass. I'm really anxious to see the game in action with Turf Effects, but I'm also willing to wait until you have mo-capped golfers to properly compliment it.

I dont know why people are worrying about the 3D grass, what Mike says about hardly any fps hit is about right. Ghost recon uses nvidia turf and its runs a dream on my i5 GTX 970 strix, couple that with everything else that goes on in that game and it never drops a frame for me. A golf game will never have that much going on besides to make it suffer. The acronym guy disagrees strongly i suspect, but what he knows about anything could be written on the back of a postage stamp.

I don't necessarily disagree but we are talking out of both sides of our mouth. We've spent the past year or so hearing that golf games are unique because they render far more than most games at any single instance. If that is true then comparing the turf effects of Ghost Recon to JNPG are irrelevant.
