Insert money and expertise. Become world-wide phenomenon. Sponsorship, Professional circuit. Top grade simulation. Ever-evolving graphic & performance upgrades. Rinse and repeat.
Overwhelm the gamers, the golfers and the market.

Crikey, even Ted B who I'm sure some weeks ago said he no longer played JNPG and had lost all interest in it, felt the need to fire off another sarcasm laden post, lol.
No. I respectfully disagree with this response.
Ask yourself this: why would someone -out of the middle of nowhere at the moment- say the sht that was said? Frustration.
At this point imo the devs have directed their energy towards doing vitual fly-bys for current golf events.
Can't blame them. If it pays the bills...
But, I think if the devs have 'given up ship' as far as putting anymore development into the pc golf side of things, I personally wish they would level with us.
I keep thinking back to something Davefv92c said in another thread: one day, we are going to turn on the pc, and try to play JNPG, but it will be gone. Just like that.
Not like anything like that has ever happened before....

Yet another reason we should be able to play offline, COMPLETELY divorced from Steam, servers, etc. We need to be able to access courses we paid for away from Steam.

People that are bored with the game, will probably be bored with the new version once the new car smell of 3D grass, career mode, etc...wears out.
Strongly disagree. If something is consistently good, the people (meaning us JNPG supporters) will stick with it.
Right now, the game has went beyond the stagnation process.
Even though EA has shut down the lobby, there still is somewhat of a thrill seeing a new course to play on TW '08 in 2017. The same goes for Links, when a new course becomes available at LinksCorner in 2017.
That shows that the community WILL support a game, even when it's devs abandoned it completely -such as the case with Links, or EA Tiger Woods PGA Tour Golf.
The only reason I'm still with JNPG is seeing what the JNPG community comes up with, as far as new courses goes. Seeing a course that I played in the Links or EA's Tiger Woods series gets my adrenalin up.
Now to today: Downloading, playing d\l'ed course in JNPG,-now THAT'S what keeps me coming back.
Now to today, part 2: then hoping to see an update -any update from JNPG. Yet again: Nothing.
But, as said here today many times before me tonight, the updates and dev talk with us as a community is at a nadir...
People are still playing tournaments and playing with their friends in the lobby. The forum was quiet because there's nothing to talk about.
People that are bored with the game, will probably be bored with the new version once the new car smell of 3D grass, career mode, etc...wears out.

Honestly, I really do too.
Mike & Andrew are on the forum all the time.
They see all of these comments and the vibe going on and they appear to be choosing to ignore all of it.
It's a tremendous disservice to a very passionate and, thus far, loyal group of customers and fans of the game.

They don't owe us anything, but some have gone out of their way to promote the game, buy the DLC, test courses...courtesy warrants a response. That said, they could not say anything to avoid an ugly divorce, shut up shop for 6 months, return with a gangbusters JNPG2 and I'd probably buy it. What choice do I have?

How many times have you, yes you, thought about doing something, thought hard about how to do it, started the project and then for a number of reasons, had to either change the way you wanted to do it or completely rethink the whole process? This is normal human practice but if after every thought process you told all your friends, how bloody silly would you look/feel when your directional changes were there for all to see? Maybe Mike and Andrew have learned the hard way that it's better to say nothing until you can back up what you do say in public? One word out of place here from either of them and numerous people seem to delight in jumping on them from a great height. In an ideal world, PP would have someone who would communicate daily/weekly/monthly in this forum but it's obviously just not realistic for them to have a member of their small team spending time posting here when they have more important things to do, like develop their game. I think a compromise would be good for everyone. If Mike or Andrew could give us a once a month update of their aspirations for the coming weeks, without wasting time answering all the questions that would follow, we would at least see what they were hoping to achieve in the following weeks. Of course, we would have to accept that some of the ideas would get changed or completely removed and maybe, if we refrained from tearing into them , we would at least have an idea of the direction/progress being implemented. Maybe the topic could be locked, so there could be no responses, just a "Notice Board" type of thing?

You won't make any posts if you're embarrassed about what you'll be posting.

I think a lot of us had very high hopes since the first sensational screenies showed up 3 or 4 years ago (remember the waterfall ans Pebble?). Rightfully so. And i think gameplay wise the game has delivered already. Best gameplay on the golf game market imo - although it's not perfect yet.
Right now we don't know what the future brings. We, the fans of the game, are probably a bit anxious. Some may think even that the end of the road might be near. I don't think so personally, but it might still be the case.
What many of us forget from time to time (me included!): PP isn't a gaming company - PP is a golf company. JNPG is only one of their projects and this fact shows when we look at the speed (or lack thereof) of development. Being as fast as possible just isn't that important for Andrew, Mike and Co. They certainly will have their reasons for it. And they have every right to develop at the pace they want.
Right now .... they owe us nothing with the exception of erasing bugs. They don't owe us mocap-animated avatars, they don't owe us 3d-grass or a career mode. They sold the game for a certain price without all those things - and we bought it. End of story.
They even don't owe us communication. Although i would think that laying out a plan for the future could help creating buzz the game needs when newer versions arrive. Sales haven't been huge so far. And in the end ... making money out of a project is a duty every enterprise has to fullfill. It is easier to do so, when you look after your current customer base. In the hope that the current player base buys the new version as well and spreads the news in order to gain additional customers.

So what exactly makes it so clear to you? And that's a serious question - I'm not trying to be flippant. I'm just wondering how anything could be clear to anyone about this game given that we've had virtually zero communication from the dev team?
just an eductaed guess, mebby..aboiut the only thing i can come up with.
(ofcurse it can be something totally different)
oh and i sure wished it was different, but it isnt.
but right now , i am having a blast playing all the new coursies.

At this point I am baffled and confused. We as players paid a low price of 20 bucks and if you bought the DLC like some of us a few more bucks for at this point over 2 years of entertainment and we feel cheated. Really???????? Sorry folks its the best 20 dollars I ever spent and a very entertaining 2 plus years so no bitching here as I believe I got over on the system on this deal. I just play and compete and what the game gives me I take and anything else is a bonus so with that said I am off to the course to play some golf.

I won't speak for everyone else but I've never once said that I feel cheated. It's not about the cost of the game to me at all. It's about the lack of information and not understanding where this game is going. I don't know whether to stick with it or not.
I'll gladly pay for their next release as long as it has 3D grass, improved lighting, and updated animations.
It's just hard to remain excited about a game where the developers just completely leave you hanging as to the future. Especially when we all realize what the full potential of this game could be - some of which is due to what the developers long ago said it could be.

Well, if that is the attitude, then that is pretty unfortunate. However, if people really do believe this, then you also will be impacted, becoming a victim of the circumstance. Low morale to the customer/fan base, probably decreased productivity with new courses coming out, feeback for bugs, or even a general excitement about the game... without support and cheers from the crowd, why would the team want to carry on and try to win?

I seriously wonder how Jack Nicklaus ended up with his name attached to this game in it's current form?

Do they owe us communication and transpareny? No.
Would it be a good thing to do? Probably, yes.

Can you blame the devs for not reading these types of topics and responding? If I was a Dev of some game, I wouldn't either.....
As for their plans for the future, they have already posted about the big update(3D grass, lighting, new motion cap, etc) that is coming to the game. They have posted that they are working on 3D grass and have been play testing it. And they didn't want to post videos until they had new motion caps or finished tweaking it. They also stated they were still undecided on whether the update will be just a new Win10 version/xbox only or will it include the current steam version as well. Just because they don't post a status every other week, doesn't mean the sky is falling or the game has been shelved.....lol
The sim version of this game is the same version used by the mouse/controller players. This means that this game is here to stay. Just be patient. Big updates will come.
