I've noticed that my posting in a thread helps to ensure it goes on the "non grata" list

I think each of us had different dreams of what was to come with this game after we saw those initial glamor shots of PP's potential so long ago (look at that waterfall...ooh...these guys are serious!). The initial claims of the goals of PP may be dogging them to this day (and well it should...it probably should have been done differently). However, we are where we are. The question is are we going anywhere, or just spinning our wheels (as fans of the dream).
its clear to me they are woking like hell on the new version, and knowing a bit about programming, that can take months.
ppl want stuff too soon all the time, seems to be a populair sickness nowadays with a lot of ppl
sorry folks.

Mike said correctly a few months ago that the game lacks personalisation. We should all be able to make the game what we want it to be. Career mode is essential if only because "you can't please all of the people all of the time". So you have to cater for different folks who have different strokes. If some don't like career mode it doesn't harm the game but it enhances it for those who want it - assuming it's done right. Same with a season mode.
But it's not just looks that need personalisation. It should be present in game play too. Basically, we all play the same with the same clubs although we all operate at different skill levels. There's no ongoing progression in any skills we have. For example it doesn't take too long for most to be hitting 312 yard drives and that's it. Look at the OGT long drive competitions. Just a few yards would seperate maybe 50 players. We're all operating within narrow parameters.
We need to be able to have clubs,n shafts and balls that suit us that give satisfaction in how we play the game. We should be able to play a wider variety of shots. The current shot shaper doesn't provide many options. How many of us can play "Seve" style or "Phil" style and for UK snooker players, are there any Alex Higgins or Ronnie O'Sullivan styles in PG.
So many things need opening up.

I think the general theme of this thread is that many people who play this game, just want an update or an idea if the current version will continue to be updated or not. Can we have some sort of glimpse if bugs are being addressed, progression and additional features being added, perhaps some new official courses...?? some form of communication that will keep the interest, other than the release of community made courses.
This popular "sickness" can easily be remedied if the above were to happen from time to time... I mean, once a month? twice a month? anything is better than what there is now and does not need to be "months"...

The lack of timely updates from the developers has been an issue pretty much since day 1. It does not seem that difficult (to me) to take a few minutes to provide some feedback.

News without a timetable maybe? Won't satisfy everybody, but it would be good communication - cause it keeps the thing in the head of the costumers. Keeping interest in a product shouldn't be underestimated. A few glimpses maybe of the career mode? So far we heard nothing about the general direction they are taking with this.
On the other hand i understand quite well that a developer doesn't want to mess around with timetables.
Maybe we can get a "state of the development"-post from Andrew or Mike. I really would be interested how things are progressing. If i can get my hands on a new version in 3 or rather in 6 months isn't of that much importance for me.

Game developement takes as long as it takes and I'm sure the devs are working as fast as they can.

So what exactly makes it so clear to you? And that's a serious question - I'm not trying to be flippant. I'm just wondering how anything could be clear to anyone about this game given that we've had virtually zero communication from the dev team?

I expect they are sitting around the office playing TGC! I think you can assume (sorry) if PP want PG to be the best golf simulation you can take it for granted that they're working pretty hard at it!

if PP want PG to be the best golf simulation
Being serious, that's actually where communication would help.
It's borderline impossible to know what they are thinking for the future or how their plans may have changed over time for the business.
Also - "Best golf simulation" might mean "best for Sim users" (who play with real clubs and pay the fees that normal gamers don't)

I think one thing we are all forgetting is that the one difference between the PC community and the Sim community is that most and the best designers are in the PC community and the courses the Sim user is playing come from the PC crowd. Now I could be wrong but that is a big benefit to them to have the PC game going and why even though the big money is in the Sim game and Console a PC game helps quite a bit. Again I could be wrong but just my two cents and why we will probably see a complete game at some time or the new version complete.

True, but given the paying nature of that crowd…
You could see them just going to paid DLC courses done by Mike or others officially just as easily.
I'm not sure the Sim crowd needs hundreds of random third-party courses necessarily, although it's of course nice to have.

I've said in a post above that communications aren't great, in fact it's got worse recently. I just have faith that PP will deliver all of the improvements they've promised, if not I'm quite happy designing for my own amusement and playing solo with the game I have now. I guess I'm easily pleased.Being serious, that's actually where communication would help.

I also hope you are right.
I just personally don't operate with "faith" in my life and greatly prefer facts and communication - thus why I (and others it would appear) are a touch frustrated.

If you mean belief in a person (or Dev team) I'm with you.
If you mean belief without evidence, I'm not.
And no it's not "sad".
Let's not start sparring again Ian.
We disagree on a lot. I get it.
