No shortage of friends for me to play with.
Can you unlock some of your rounds and invite this guy?
The reason the lobby is dead is because of snobs and locked games.
The damage being done is irreparable.
What also would help is that some of the forum regulars here were actually seen playing the game sometimes.
I play daily and you are no where to be found.

Many of us are working (or out at least not in a context where we'd be playing the actual game) when also participating on the forum.
I can't be playing the golf game, let alone multiplayer, while simultaneously doing work stuff.
Re: When I do play, and this is just me personally, I simply don't have the time that's required for anything beyond straight match play with one other person.

First on the topic of gimmies they are part of Golf and even Pro golf as they do it all the time when playing match play and even in the Ryder Cup. The old pro's like Hogan and Snead would sucker players by giving them 4 and 5 foot putts early in a match and then later in the match the player would be looking for the gimmie and low and behold they made them putt it. Saying its not part of real golf is not true and I have no problems with it and wish we had gimmie anything 2ft and under like at OGT. Now on another note to those who claim there are no people around well they are out playing and I just finished a wonderful round at Royal St George where I shot a fine 3 under 69 at Tour Pro MS and just getting my game in shape for the British Open next week where I will be moving to TP. Go play its fun.

Off topic i know but i have been playing this game since early development and i can say that i have yet to have a casual game against any of the top posters on this forum.I find that weird i understand many play competitions only but is it too much to just have a casual round? I have many friends on the game and its always fun friendly banter i think too many now are more intrested in playing tournaments and getting their names on the boards by any means than just having a friendly game of golf.

Why would I unlock my games to the likes of the whiners and complainers that aren't happy with anything unless it is tailored made to them...
There are a group of people that I play with on a regular basis. I do this because they vary settings, courses, mop's and even play the occasional tournament round in multi player.
Society is made up of groups of people that stick together based on likes , wants, personalities, viewpoints ,and beliefs. Why should this game be any different... if one has a problem finding games with other live human beings maybe the problem isn't with the live human beings as much as the one complaining they can't find a game.....
....Just sayin'

Clarification. We all went through the pick-up match/round process early on. Through that process we experienced the following.
1. The polite competitors
2. The competitors who sent chat during our swings (gamesmanship)
3. The social player who wants to know "where you are from, how long have been playing online golf?"
4. The quitters
5. The terrible ISP services of some players (constant disconnects)
6. The whiners "nothing is good about this game", "I can't hit the ball because of that 'thing' on my screen
7. The fighters "you @#$#F#%#$#%" just got lucky, is all.
8. The babysitters who had to constantly leave the game (brb x6)
9. The story tellers who want you to know their life's story........
Through that process we all got a chance to pick and choose who we wanted to add, remove and block as friends on our lists.
I am quite content with the tournaments, both Official and Public. I enjoy a good 1 on 1 match round for 9 holes using text chat, not voice chat.
Hanging around the lobby waiting for a game with a stranger has passed for most of us at this time.
Perhaps when the community expands by another 1000 to 10,000 players, pick-up games will again, be fun.

I don't agree here. Often times when I play real golf we say if it's inside the leather (meaning the put is within the length of the putter club head and the bottom of the grip) that it's a gimme. This is exactly how JNPG is setup. You predefined what a gimme is and it's done.
I attempted to clarify my opinion with "(competitive) golf", but in fact, I meant "professional golf". I think anyone who have ever played the real game knows that the vast, vast majority play with takees - inside the leather, or whatever distance is agreed or not agreed to.
As Greensboronclion points out in his post that I've quoted below, gimmes are used in match play/Ryder/Solheim/Walker/etc. Cups. I could be wrong, but I don't think any of the players in any of those competitions say that "inside the leather" is good.
And to be clear, I don't have a problem with players using takees. My preference, however, is for me not to take them in real golf or in computer golf.
On a lighter note, how many have played real golf with 54 feet (or other lengths) of string to use for gimmes? You take whatever length putt you want, provided you have an equal length of string. Tear off and throw away the length of string used for gimmes and when the string runs out, so do your gimmes. It's an interesting twist, essentially limiting the total length of gimmes allowed in the round. Curious if an MOP could be designed for this??
