I would elaborate but I'm feeling like I can't take another stoning.

The first obvious thing that can be taken out is the gimmes as they are not part of realism whatsoever.  :)

Other than the fact that the AI won't work without them. And its an option, you don't have to use them.

Many people use gimmes in real life

Weird.  That got fixed in a previous patch.  Is the 1 inch putt problem happening again?

I'm pretty sure the AI still doesn't work WITH gimmes if they hit it within gimme range on a par 3 in alt shot.

If so I will go back to no gimmies. I hope your right. I certainly didn't get the memo.(If there was one...I follow this stuff pretty closely. Then again, PP's strong suit hasn't been documenting all patches. But maybe I missed it. I will keep you posted.) B)

Real players have the same problem, which I have reported many, many times, on par 3's when playing alt shot.

Last time I ran AIs without two foot gimmes was way after the last patch that mentioned AIs.They were much worse than I am inside two feet.Outside of 2 feet I rarely run into bizarro behavior.

Yes, it's rare that I see this as I'm usually too inaccurate but I just had it again today. Hit to 10 inches and clicked gimme without thinking. Had to quit out of round.

Getting back to you on this Crow. I've been playtesting my new course with 4 AI players without gimmies. I'm getting 1 or 2 anomalous short putts every 4 holes (they aim 90 degrees from the direction they should). But it is better than it was before the last fix.

Any chance of a quick update, perhaps a few screenshots of 3D grass integration or even just a note to say where you're currently at with PG2?

Thanks.

Update:

The beta testers are currently playing a build that has some tweaked cup physics, trying to eliminate the "ball going below the edge of the cup" lip outs.  Early indications are good, although lots of testing remains to be done.  PP is currently in Europe getting ready for The Open.

Disagree!  Gimmes are a part of match-play In Real Golf.  So they are part of realism.

And gimmes can be selected or not selected in the setup screen for multiplayer.  I believe Gimmes in the API for official and 3rd party tournaments can turned on or off.   Tournament directors are in charge of that.

On the update front.  Glad to hear cup physics tweaks are being tested in beta.

Any time you do not have to finish what you started it is not realism.  We shall agree to disagree.  :)

Gimme's are part of the real game of golf (if desired).

That is the definition of "realism"

Mr Bear has obviously never played real golf.

Not having to finish what you started?

In Stableford, if you take too many shots so that you cannot score any pts on the hole, you can pick up, you don't have to finish the hole. This would be a nice feature in the game for Stableford, where once you have played too many shots on a hole you can have the option to pick up.

Matchplay, you can concede a hole to your opponent without finishing.

Gimmes are part of matchplay. Anyone who claims they are not is a fool.
