And I wonder how outdated it will look by the time it is finally released. Hope it's worth the wait.

Yep, I'm wagering on late 2018.So the shoe drops..
That's the first official word I've seen on "next year".
I think most of us were sort of wagering on that anyhow.
Are you at liberty to comment or wager your own guess on if that means "Jan/Feb" or like "one year from now" (Summer 2018)?

2018 is going to be a long year. The pressure will be on about mid-November 2018 won't it?

Well... there will be hope until the PGA Tour starts up again and then they'll be busy preparing for every event. And then we'll be talking about 2019. See... there's only 15 minutes of downtime available each year for JNPG.

I just hope it won't be a "Winter 2013" release date like PG1.

as for the hare? yes it has been a nasty fall. running on banana peels it seems.
so do we want that or do we like turning this tortoise upside down knocking on its shell to see if it's breathing?.

oh yeah, then there's that other player in the race, 10 time defending champion. walked into the street of public opinion with a blank stare on its face that now lays lifeless on the side of the road and has for going on two years.

Yes, development is slow, hopefully the upgraded JNPG will be worth the wait, whenever it arrives.
Thankfully my life doesn't revolve around JNPG. It's a gsme/sim I enjoy playing when time allows.
If JNPG2 (or whatever it will be) is the big step forward we all hope, then great. I can play the current JNPG to my hearts content and without wanting to start a shit storm with our HBS fans, I much prefer playing PP's offering, even in its current guise.

There are a large number of people who still play Links so I think a bit of a delay isnt the end of the world.
Agree with you Daz about the other product- I just cant live with the shiney, shiney screens, poor physics and animations like a man spider

It would certainly want to be worth the wait whenever, wouldn't it.

Bloody hell, the tone of some of these posts feel like they need an end of the world is nigh sandwich board attached to them, lol.

Finally some are getting my point i have been saying here for a long time. Some posters are all doom and gloom. it becomes quite nauseating

After 3 years with the game i am feeling a bit tired. I am an active player at OGT and since TGC2 is on the market i squeeze my rounds at OGT in. Not with the motivation and the competetivness as before. I just play them to have played them.
Is TGC2 the better golf sim? Absolutely not. But it is a new challenge with the controller for me and offers some things that are better - i mean, it's still buggy but it is a feature complete game (multiplayer isn't that important to me).
Why am i tired of playing of JNPG? I don't know exactly. But the staleness and the "non-urgency" by the dev-team probably plays an important role. The game is not finished and it doesn't seem to be priority to do that. Disappointing and, yes, a bit demotivating.
I wonder if the next version in 2018 is even up to the technology standards then. 4-5 years development? I don't know if that works. I don't know if a customer base will tolerate that. I have never thought that i would play TGC2 more than JNPG - never. But it is what it is.

I agree Frank. JNPG is the better game but the slow (mostly non-existent) pace of development just makes the game stale to me. I wish it weren't that way but I'm just calling it like I see it (as nauseating as that may be to GB).
TGC2 has many warts. But I'm finding it fun and challenging to play. I've played JNPG a few times since playing TGC2 and I can usually only stand a few holes before I get bored and quit. I'm sure I'll be the same way with TGC2 as well at some point. But maybe by then JNPG2 will be out and I can give that a go.

I Play TGC2 about an hour a week it seems and when I do I fool around with the career mode but to be honest they still cant touch the gameplay here and I was really hoping they could but its not there. Lots of bells and whistles but not much GP in my opinion as the physics of the game on the ground is just not the same as JNPG. Is it better than TGC1 oh hell yeah but still not anywhere good enough to draw me away from this game more than that hour a week and that is just because I spent $40 bucks on it and hate to waste money.

You know the funniest thing is that we in the Links 2003 crowd played that game as it was for many years and never lost our desire to play the game and most of what we had was LSPN events on a weekly basis. Maybe its my age of 61 and that my attention can be held longer than the youth of today or just that I love playing video golf but I can honestly say after two plus some years I still play this game everyday that I am home and still don't get bored with it. I think the biggest problem is that today most games have a shelf life of 6 months and after that if the player isn't getting more he loses his interest and moves on and unfortunately that is how it seems to be in the workplace also as a dollar and hour more and employees will bolt out the door and no loyalty around anymore. I have yet to play one round with TGC2 that I can remember but I got many here and go play the new Royal Birkdale and you will see what I am saying. If it takes them till 2019 to come out with the new game I got plenty here to keep me going and will continue to keep slapping it around the course.

JNPG needs to bring version 2 to both consoles with its promised career mode / customizable avatars. (more than 1) I don't think the current version of JNPG is going to see any improvements in the extras catagory. I think those are probably being held back for jnpg2. thus this version probably is what it's going to be.
not really doom and gloom. it just appears to be the truth.
