locked rounds are a good thing for groups, and would fit in perfectly

with country clubs/groups angle.

One minute?!  If a player is taking even 45 seconds a shot I would not continue the round.  I would politely tell them that I was tired of watching the paint dry on the walls.

This is exactly why locked rounds are necessary.... so a player can ensure that they are playing with people of the same mind, and who won't leave during a round because they don't like something that you are doing or saying.

locked rounds are a good thing i think most who use locked rounds put their round together

and then more then likely work their friends list and invite friends very good function for this.

GB just don't take such offence to the locked rounds i dont think people are trying to keep folks out

as their plan has already been laid before putting the round together. at least that is how i see it.

as i never see any passwords being passed in the lobby chat to get into a round, not saying it does not happen, but i have never seen it.

Most online games have lobbies with a password.

It's basically done so that that uninvited players don't turn up and take the place of someone else or you get player entering a gaming lobby for which they are not a league or clan member.

Creating a locked lobby in JNPG allows the host to use a pre-determined password he will have more than likely shared with his playing partners beforehand. He can then set the room with all the round presets in the knowledge that only those with the password are going to enter and not have to end up booting someone who has inadvertently joined what would have otherwise been an open lobby game.

Nothing snobby about it IMO, just makes total sense.

i also think the reason we see not much lobby chat about getting into locked games.

i would almost bet most of these locked games are being played by folks using the voice chat

supplied by OGT and PGLS which really makes the lobby out of play other then to get into their game.

just guessing but back in the TWO days this is how the group i was in did it and we used TS all games for some people where just made on the TS

Actually, this is the reason we need a 30 second timer, not locked rounds.

I have said it before and will say it again. The locked rounds are killing the multiplayer.  I know of countless people who have left the game because of the snobs and their locked games.  But no one will listen to logic so the multiplayer lobby will remain a ghost town with tumbleweeds rolling down the streets.  I know I thoroughly enjoy posting a round daily, waiting 30 minutes then leaving the site in utter disgust.

This game averages 50 people in the lobby now.  It used to average 75-100 players.  Lose the locked rounds and the players who are not here for a social experience.

I disagree. The game is stale for all but the diehards. There has been nothing new on the development front for the current game. There have been a few updates on the new game (thanks Mike, Andrew, and Art) but the pace of development is really slow due to the small size of the Dev Team.

Here’s hoping 2 brings new life and new players to the franchise because the current game is pretty stale, IMO. That is not to say the current game is not good, it just seems the game and Community have reached a place low spot in interest and energy.

The issue with locked games is not a problem i understand certain groups want to play ok thats fine. The issue with me is why dont the groups want new members , if i hosted a group the first thing i would do is get new players. If i am new to the game and all i see is locked games in the lobby first impression i see is well fuck this , its not a friendly community. And i also see regular posters on the forum are never to be seen even playing the game , and im on most evenings .Also on a side note why do the top shooters on the boards never play head to head games? Makes you wonder ehh

"gimmies are only there for the lazy folks who don't want to learn"

I strongly disagree with this statement, nor do I appreciate someone stereotyping me as lazy for the simple reason that I like the gimmies. In short, this one sentence comes off as very condescending -which compelled me to reply now -instead of using my pc for actually playing some pc golf this morning:

Maybe some of us -mainly me- can't sit in front of a pc for any significant length at a time, let alone play one game -in this case, JNPG- for hours at a time. Some of us "lazy folks" use our pc's for other things too, like for example: MS Office/Excel/PP/etc. for work-related stuff.
You know, "work-related"? The one and only thing that pays for my Internet to play games when I get an hour (if I'm lucky) a day (working 21 turns -that's a workplace that runs 24/7/365 -like a hospital, police station, etc btw) to sit in front of my pc and play a game -if I don't have work-related sht to deal with in the meantime...
That's why I for one like using gimmies...8 foot gimmies at that...so I don't have to waste 20 seconds of load-up time to the next tee to make a two, four, six or eight footer than I can literally make with my eyes closed.
Just makes sense to me. Getting rid of the gimmies altogether does NOT make sense -and that's the feeling I'm getting by reading some of the replies in this thread...disappointing to read btw, but not surprised.

Now I move on to a more important topic, but still related: multiplayer online.
Mainly, the EA Sports Lobby that existed in TW07 and TW08.

Still to this day, there is NO comparable experience to what that was. It was the benchmark for online golf play that still hasn't even come close to being matched, or even close to being duplicated today...
The EASO lobby was so simple, but yet so advanced: you chose to pick a game with skill level already set, or swing, or both.
In the meantime, ESPN Radio was playing in the background, giving up-to-the-minute sports scores. Brilliant...
To settle the 'who-will-quit-after-three-holes-if-they suck-so-bad' debate? The answer to that was quite simple also: that player knew better to join into a game, because the host would recognize the player and boot him out instantly -but still leave the other real players intact. No stupid stuck-up arrogant password needed to join.
Even when EA shut down the '07 lobby, the '08 lobby was still going strong...

But not happening today. Why?

Why has NO dev in ANY pc golf world figured out that EA had the best multiplayer online deal then, and why the frig hasn't it been equaled into late 2017, going on into 2018?
Sorry, but the JNPG mp deal as it sits now is a joke. I won't waste my little time I have to golf to even deal with the arrogance of having to grovel to someone just to get the all-valuable password to join into their arrogance club...

It's all come down to what it is: clique-driven, as to cater to a certain crowd of pc golfers. That's the way I see mp in JNPG now.
Will it get fixed in JNPG2? Me? I wouldn't lay down any money here now on betting that it will change sooner or later, it is what it is...

From what I gathered over the months/years,is most of the players is either single player only or wants locked games with there buddies(nothing wrong with either)..not much left overs for the ones that like playing with others.player base isn’t big enough as it is..mp is my favorite to play but it is a nightmare.its painfully slow, lag most of the time.did I say slow?plus just playing by yourself is rather boring ,I can hardly get past 9 holes b4 I want to quit..there is nothing to play for like t.w.o. had In its game..

8'gimmies what a hoot.

why even play the game if you don't have to work

for the last 8 feet.

sorry you where offended, but thats life.

if you have the time for the other shots, you should also have the time to putt.

time thing sure seems like an excuse for not learning how to putt,to me

as for the lobby i'm not sure this lobby will ever work as thought, i think the biggest key

is to have groups,or country clubs as a jump off spot to bring people together who play alike.

without having to go outside the game and create websites and all that as most are here to play and not have to tend to websites and all.

i also see this as the biggest problem with this game, there are some tourneys and a couple of tourney sites.

that is all there is to do for the solo players, once the weekly tourneys are done for the week things go boring.

As I only play PGLS tournaments I'm stuck from Monday to Thursday.

Weekly "official" tournaments would be nice.

kinda hoping when 2 comes along maybe the players have the ability to

set their own tourneys that all in the community could play.

crow sets the monthly now i do believe as a volunteer, now if he had a few volunteers he could work with

to set weekly and daily tourneys that would be so cool and then there would be plenty to do for the solo players.

{implanting idea here}lol

What do you need from official tournaments that OGT doesn't offer?  (I would call OGT official anyway.)
