Skyrim, Cities:Skylines , Rfactor. All have had amazing success, longer life and most importantly - thriving communities and forums - because they allow modding.

For PG2 unlock access to at least the textures for clubs, clothes and golfers, and we'll gladly mod them ourselves.

Unless I am mistaken, this could only be for the Win10 version of JNPG2 as the consoles are awfully strict on user-created content.

Modding and an open architecture would be simply awesome and do wonders for the game over the long haul, no question!

There could still be official and paid add-ons too of course

Bethesda make a commercial decision to allow mods on the Xbox One version of Fallout 4 when they released It last year.

To date  just under 20 million Xbox One gamers have downloaded mods, a huge success.

Okay, then someone at Bethesda or another 3rd party makes sure that content is not offensive before being released......that has been the issue with Golf games and user-created content on consoles in the past.

Thanks John, that short rough looks a lot more varied and convincing than I was expecting. I hope PP can do a similar job. That long grass however.... that's another story!!!

Here's a link to the other screen I had grabbed, which I think shows off even more how varied the rough density, heights, and shading can be in TGC 2.  https://twitter.com/...4270592/photo/1

I have to emphasize that this rough isn't as detailed, nor as animated as I suspect Turf Effects grass will be.  I just hope that level of detail and animation doesn't handicap it by imposing a more homogenous  overall quality to it.

I'm not so impressed with that screen shot, 3D-wise. That just looks like a bump mapped 2D texture with a smattering of 3D grass overlaid on it.

Well, since it seems that PG is moving on with PG2, would it be too much to ask that modding be allowed on PG1? they could still make sales to people with no interest in further upgrading their systems, and well, the modding community is pretty awesome if they get a chance.

It's certainly not what we should eventually expect to see out of full 3-D Turf Effects rough grasses.  I just thought it was a pretty decent step towards a more defined and quasi-convincing rough environment.  It certainly looks more realistic, at least to my eyes, than the pixellated, carpet underlayment looking heavy rough textures that I see pretty often in JNPG.

I had lower expectations for what we'd see out of the rough in TGC 2, so I guess that's why it impressed me.  As I told Acrilix, it's not nearly as good as what I'd expect to see from Turf Effects 3-D rough.  Acrilix did raise a concern that I hadn't considered concerning Turf Effects rough, and that is that it might be so homogeneous in palette and density that it doesn't look natural.

I really believe there is an experience out there just waiting to be cobbled into workable form. A golfing experience. I approached that dream-like state at brief times playing JNPG1 to give it its full nom de achroneste. Even though we were out playing and even walking around at will through beautifully rendered (by Unity 5.0 standards), and besides the aforementioned brief sense-heightening moments, it was a downer. I thought it was going to be better than this.

And now we wait again. Will our dreams be fullfilled? Don't be an idiot.

But to answer the question...

I'm looking for THE golf sym. The standard. The worst part of this is that all the things you are looking for in JNPG2 can be achieved - and more - and we know it will never happen.

I'm looking for an improved JNPG 2.  My expectations are nothing more than an improved game.  Wish all we want ... dream all we want .... but we can only expect what is do-able by a small 4 or 5 person indie team.

JNPG has come a long long way from its playable 20.00 dollar beta beginnings to now.   I have fun playing this game for 2+ years now.  Pretty good bang for the buck if you ask me.

3 years for 20 bucks think about it, kinda makes me feel like i stole 40 bucks from these fella's.

ain't putting this out there to create any waves. or insult anyone. dont know how they keep this going one just

has to sit and do a little figuring in their heads with this small community of players we have. not much coin.

if PG2 is a fuller game i would be willing to pay 75.00 each and every year, few more PP tourneys as it gets people started on tourneys to get them to the  2 tourney sites so people can play them there, a career a base career to start off but turn it into one of the stars of the game. just those 2 little things would show me a lot and get that 75 bucks.

Optimisation. I currently often have to play PG on low settings, no AA, no shadows etc, just to get a smooth 60FPS for RTS-M. And that's with an i5-4670K CPU @ 3.40GHz quad, twin GTX760 SLI and 16GB memory. Graphically it looks 10+ years old. I play many current games on High at 80 FPS and they look great. Love the gameplay, though!

This is THE golf sim.  No need to look any further.

Nearly three years ago, I purchased JNPG1.  I understood it was early release and have waited patiently for it to be completed.  I chuckled as I read hundreds of posts in 2015-2016 complaining about this or that not meeting expectations.  I kept waiting patiently...until now.  I understand that "completed" is subjective, but let's be honest, version 1 was never completed.  It's missing capabilities that we had in Links 2003, a game that is 15 years old.

It appears all efforts are going toward JNPG2, so now version 1 will never reach the level it should have.  It will never be what those of us who purchase games expected or what we felt we were promised.  I'm not going to purchase version 2 because I don't have Win 10 and have no intention of changing my operating system merely to play version 2.  That's is simply too much to ask.  Every other game I play and business software I use daily works well in Win 7.

Forget asking what we want in JNPG2.  The better (rhetorical) question is, why wasn't version 1 ever delivered and why should we believe version 2 will ever be delivered?

You should change your OS for security reasons

I agree. I see no reason to buy JNPG2.  Why would I want to buy another game where I cannot control a horribly unstable meter?  Everything I want is already in this game as I have zero interest with tournies or careers.  The only selling point to me would be a fixed meter.

I agree with most of what you say, but I will buy JNPG2 (as long as there is a PC version) because it is still the best golf sim that I have seen. But I doubt if the game will ever be a "finished" product.
