The AI aside, PCARS2 is definitely better than PCARS.

But as many folks are buying PCARS2 for career mode and racing the AI it is a total disaster.

Other than odd sessions online with some of the guys here and occasional hot lapping in the community events.,im now hardly playing PCARS2. iRacing, F12017 and RRRE are what I spend time driving.

Next up will be GT Sport on the PS4 next week. Await to see what disasters that brings, lol.

Been playing this a bit this week, gotta say that i am very disappointed with the A.I. they never race race each other!  Once the first corner carnage settles down, they just go into indian file and thats it.  The game has good content but this A.I. issue has pretty much ruined it for me, wish i figured this out before i could not get a refund, too late now....very poor, another company that pushes the game too soon just to get the money in.

yep and then they have us pay to be the testers, world sure has changed in the last 20yrs

oh well what can ya do but go with the flow or shut it down

Does anybody remember destruction derby for PlayStation? That was a fun game with surprisingly good A.I.

Just got to PC2 using quick race with gamepad.

I've tweaked the steering sensitivity and blank spot endlessly it seems but the lightest touch on the steering stick puts the car way off a straight line. Is this inevitable or controllable ?

I have been using a controller all week, i really cannot be bothered to setup my wheel, what settings are you using?  i have tweaked mine plenty, happy with it.

For controller try this setting..

SDZ 0

Steering S 5

TDZ 30

TS 7

BDZ 20

BS 7

no need to set clutch dead zone

no need to set CS

Speed S 95

DS 73

CD 75

CV 100

I think you will find this setting very good, also if the car allows you can always stiffen the front springs and roll and soften the back, along with increasing the steering ratio, all in car setup...good luck!

Considerably better thanks. I was able to bulldoze 6 cars off in the first lap :-)

Here's a challenge for you guys...Just love throwing this car around tracks like knockhill, it's so much fun.  Gonna revisit this later, i lost a bit of time in T3 and T5 and could prob take another 2 secs from the lap time...have a go its great fun!

Controller for now,  i do have a wheel but the FFB is screwed and its not quite the same without the vibrations.  I reckon i could def improve it with a wheel, this honda has to be set coming out of a corner so you can blast the throttle quickly, it's tricky to set the right line on exit with controller, i have tweaked the config best i can but the minor adjustments you sometimes have to make always seem to lose time.

Wow!  I bow to your greatness!  I have an older Logitech MOMO steering wheel, and I can't stay on the track to save my life.  I usually have to make sure the driving line is comepletely blue before I can go through a corner.  I've been thinking of uninstalling PC2 and going back to PC1 just because I'm so uncompetitive. (on the road courses anyway)

Lol great...not!  that one lap was prob one clean lap out of 7,   that car is a beast on tracks like knockhill, every turn it wants to kill you lol.   Controller works quite well with PC2 as its the first game that has a setting for controller dampening which basically lets you set the speed of L to R or R to L transition when you take tight chicanes, that transition problem has always plagued controller driving, now controller players can compete with wheel users.  A good wheel will still always produce faster lap times, but the gap is much closer now.

BTW make sure you have stability control turned off for cars that like to slide, if not the game will activate the SC which performs a quick braking action mid corner, it cost you so much time on hotlaps..  I have ABS set to high stability control off and traction control low.

Patch 2?

I'm seeing Patch 1.2.0.0

Still seems the AI is dire even after the updates from comments I've been reading. Hey-ho.

Slightly OT from PCARS2, but saw this on YouTube. Ken Block is not everyone's cuppa, but he sure has a novel way of ascending Pikes Peak

While on the subject of Pikes Peak, here is one balls to the wall run by the man that is Sebastian Loeb. If this was on a computer game it would be impressive.... but it's the real deal.

Sorry for taking PCARS 2 slightly off tangent, lol.

Any thoughts on the new patch?

Not got around to downloading it yet.

Comments I'm seeing on YT streams is that the AI is still bad, there are some FPS improvements on certain tracks that were an issue and some cars are handling better then pre-patch. Not a lot else really.

Some of the changelog details seem quite vague, with the words tweaks, fixes and enhancements being common, but SMS not detailing exactly what it is they have fixed.

Seems a big patch (3.6GB) for very little IMO.

Guessing new files for tracks is why the update is so big. On steam, some say patch made noticeable improvements

The size of updates is often determined by the way games are programmed, and is not necessarily an indicator of the amount of changes made. A small change can necessitate a large file update if the code isn't constructed in a very modular way.

If that’s truly the case with these guys, we are in trouble.
