If only Woods would put that much effort into having morals. It is a sad indication of modern times when this "man" is looked up to.

I look up to him as a incredible golfer, not as a person. No one and I mean no one is near as exciting to watch play as Tiger.

Woods is something else. What a come back. There is the Professional and there is the Private person. Sadly, sometimes the one spilled over in the other. As a Professional golfer Woods is right up there. Whatever happend in his private life is his business. I see a man who has gone to the mountain top, fell down, and climbed up again. It's an impressive life.

Best thing to happen to golf since he fell off the face of the golf earth. Tiger Woods brings people to the game and when he is not playing the ratings are always down. I watched all 18 holes and the final hole where he was coming up with that Army behind him even awed him and was unbelievable to watch. I have walked 18 holes at a PGA event following him and it truly is an event itself and for him to win and be back as a force in the game is the best thing that could have happened to the Tour. The only other player that ever played that could command a crowd like him was my childhood golfing hero Arnie and his Army was just as devoted as Tiger's. Welcome back Tiger and Golf has missed you.

Glad to see Tiger back on top. Regardless of what you think of his personal failures and issues (and let's be fair - we ALL have them) what he accomplished this weekend is nothing short of phenomenal. To fall to the bottom after being at the very top only to then scratch and claw your way all the way back up to the top again... amazing.

You shouldn't be picking sports figures as role models anyway.
I don't and also have not watched sports of any kind since the early 2000's.

Just follow the Tweets on Tiger's win. He is transcendent as a sports figure. His story is so compelling that those with zero interest in golf are drawn in to the mix. No other US sports figure has ever garnered such interest.
The draw is that he delivers time and time again. He could "will" the ball into the hole. He is the ultimate grinder getting the most out of every round. He went SEVEN YEARS without missing a cut. The world's top 10 can't go 7 tournaments without missing a cut these days.
He was battered, bruised and a shell of himself for years. Battling addictions, character flaws and true physical problems. And now, he has once again done what we expect from him, and that is to deliver on Sundays. (Although his 6 under through 7 on Saturday was the sprint ahead that sealed the deal.)
Celebrities will almost universally let you down if you want them to live up to some self righteous standards.
But, if you are here to be entertained, Tiger is the ultimate for the golf fan. So many hung on to some hope of return the last 5 years, wondering if he could ever win again. He could've easily just continued to fade from memory and history.
His epic crowd on 18 is a glimpse into a rowdiness that will be unheard of next year should he continue to stay healthy.
He might be downing Xanax, Vicodin, and Ambiens while hosting orgies in his free time but if he's entertaining me on Sunday, I'm good.

True, but not cheating on your wife in a rampant and cruelly systemic way isn't what I'd call a 'self-righteous' standard.

Yes, probably would've been better stated that celebrities will almost universally let you down if you look for them to be more than a source of entertainment.True, but not cheating on your wife in a rampant and cruelly systemic way isn't what I'd call a 'self-righteous' standard.
But, part of my statement was "want them to live up to"... Implying that most people looking for them to be role models are projecting their ideas of what they want them to be. He never had a chance to live up to what the world wanted him to be as a role model. I think he never came close but I didn't expect that from him.
