We are all pretty smart here and I assume most have dealt in the business world before and we who have know that sometimes you cant talk about what you know. Yes they have a reputation for not giving info to us and we have dealt with that for over three years and this could be different as if they were purchased by TM then they might and most likely cant speak. Its business folks nothing personal but the fact is we are just consumers and are at the mercy of the provider and right now we cant control what is going on. For the record if I was in their shoes and just sold my company to TM I wouldn't tell you anything either and some will say that is harsh but I will say that is just good business and nothing personal.

Vance,
Not sure where you are getting this idea from.
HBS has not made any announcment so your comments are premature and not exactly accurate.
Same can be said about your comments on PP and jnpg 2. I at least posted the Official Q&A.

I'll try my hand at prognostication:
What I know:
TrackMan provides PP with data to use in JNPG and their TV software.
PP's TV software system used during PGA Tour events.
Live TrackMan data fed into JNPG software during PGA event as proof-of-concept of a "play with the pros" idea. (you play along with selected pro's on your computer/console/simulator, live, during an actual tournament). It works.
What I'm guessing at:
TrackMan, seeing how accurate JNPG is in translating their system's data into the game software, decide to use it with their simulators.
TrackMan knows there is money to be made from the PGA in using their launch monitors in conjunction with the PP software as a "one-stop" solution for broadcasters and the PGA.
TrackMan determines there is still money to be made from a console/computer version of the game, that there is limited competition in the marketplace and they will be the only game that can offer real world level accuracy in shot reproduction within the game.
TrackMan (in conjunction with the PGA) looks at the "play with the pros" concept as another income generator. (One pays an "entry fee" to access the stream of a selected pro's live shot data to play against during an actual tournament. Recorded tournament rounds of the pros could also be sold after the fact). There may also be a deal for the PGA to officially release the PP versions of tournament courses for sale (they are all based on 5 cm lidar data provided by the PGA).
TrackMan purchases PP.
Development continues with an influx of Trackman money.
JNPG2 is released.
We are all very happy.

I posted what came to mind in the absence of anything official from PP or Trackman. Your comments were unnecessarily negative.
Mine were not. We've been friends for some time. Lets not ruin that over innuendo and misinformation.

Let's all wish Mike, Andrew, Erik and others the best of success regardless if they will work with or for Tracman. I just hope each of them becomes financially solvent after this transition.

This is wonderful news.
I am thrilled that Trackman has bought out PP. We still might not get all those pipe-dreaming features that we have asked for over the years; - a career mode, female avatars, left-handed golfer, elo ladder in the lobby, realistic wind, 21st century graphics, a playable 3C meter, non-stupid AI, un-childlike UI, realistic difficulty, unplayable lie relief, regular development updates, faster upgrades, regular lobby tournaments, crowd ambience, the ability to disappear the dude, the ability to disappear the HUD as a setting, all GB's multiplayer concerns, recorded round problems, fixed personalised cams, fixed personalised FOV, real-time Real Time Swing, a finished game, etc, etc, - but at least they can't possibly be as hopelessness-inducing as PP.
I'm ecstatic.

They may even have people who enjoy interacting with their customers. What a welcome change that would be.Definitely great news to have ownership involved that already has a rolling and growing business.

I see on the introductory video on the Trackman website that 'gaming applications' are mentioned as part of the potential of their technologies. I'm sure people as savvy as those at Trackman are well aware that there are many golf lovers who for financial, physical or other reasons don't want the simulator but would play a video game based on their technologies. I'm encouraged by the news of the takeover.

I dunno. The cheapest thing Trackman sells is around $15k...are they interested in devoting time and money to make a game that sells for less than 50 bucks a pop? I guess the groundwork is already there for the PP devs to build on, but we don't even know their level of involvement any more.
An aside - on Trackman's Range page they have female golfers having a hit. Man we've been using Harry for so long now...

In theory a golf game could add to Trackman's portfolio. And it could help to market their simulators.
The game isn't finished but i would guess that it wouldn't take thaaaat much money to polish PG2 and throw it on the market (for consoles too).
So it might be worth a try for Trackman. It wouldn't hurt their main business i would think. They should know that not a lot of guys can buy a 15 k equipment. And buying the game wouldn't be the alternative to buying the simulator for 15k.
If the game would be based around Trackman data and would add a absolutely new dimension to golf gaming (Real pros data in the game etc) it might be a financial success.

I actually don't think Trackman will be involved in development of the game at all. Doing so would probably see support for all other launch monitors being dropped from the game, and I don't think that is where PG is headed.
