Sure there is. Not only is non-simulator play a great incubator for simulator players, there's 100x more of you, yet the sim player is maybe worth only 20-30x as much. You're worth more collectively. Non-sim players however complain 1000x more - that could hurt.

Talk about splitting hairs. Geez Louise, then when 2020, 2025?
I don't know Richard.
They are trying to justify putting it into their game.
IMO, they want to improve on the swing they have currently before introducing another swing.
Game balance is important to them and adding 3-click is not an easy task if your goal is to maintain game difficulty balance.
Personally, I have never seen ANY developer pull off a truly balanced game with 3-click and analog swings successfully.

Actually I have no idea if you can have balance because 3-click is so much easier than any other swing I think anyways, I don't play it anymore though so I can only assume but if a 3-click was playing along side of me in a game and I used the controller he would probably kick my butt, I am talking the other game though and not this one.
While the other game is good I was really hoping this one would be my go to but my friends left this game that I play golf with every friday night because they hated the tempo swing with the mouse and there was no option to turn it off, we don't need to reinvent the wheel and the mouse swing has been great in all the games, if you need to make it harder turn up the sensitivity to off axis. Mike/Andrew you truly do have a great game and the designer is damn good to but you need to make sure it is done right so people don't leave. I have no problems with paying for courses either as long as it is done right. I have a feeling though I will be a senior though before ANY golf game puts enough resources in to do it correctly and not have to spend 2-3 more years for another update we should have had the first time.

That literally is the exact reason I've always been skeptical about Trackman wanting to deal with this market over the long term.

small % of real PITA complainers here same people since the start all you have to do is read the forums
for the novel size posts that are put up to try and make you believe the same as author, about how the game is not hard enough.
i myself have no real complaints about the gameplay, my complaints are more on the line of how the game is served up to us.
along with the game never even getting close to what we where told.

Higher prices and more regular payments for access will invite a different caliber of customer who is more serious about the experience and is willing to pay for it.
There are some types of customers that are never worth it for the outsized amount of support they incur, and it's best to let them go.

like i posted i would be willing to pay up to 100 bucks yearly.
if they would stock the pro shop with items that would not change the gameplay. i would also be willing to spend some money that way
different clothes ,hats ,sunglasses. colored balls. and of course i do buy all the new official course release's so there is still money to be made with this game. i would think right now that the pro's and con's of keeping a PC version is in discussing being done now.

The mouse swing is the best innovation for golf games in the last 20 years.
The players leaving BECAUSE of the mouse swing certainly aren't the problem numberwise. The slow development is the problem. The game is unfinished and it lacks important content.
I would bet that this is the main reason, why many left the game.
But there is still hope .... maybe we see PG 2.

Please elaborate what important content is missing. Why is this game unfinished? It seems finished for me because I don't play online. I would not be able to compete in an online tournament because I can't score very well even at the beginner level.

- no real time animation (mo-capped)
- no real offline mode (career mode)
- outdated graphics
- some nagging bugs (3-click-slide)
The game isn't bad at all. At the opposite: The core is very good. We have some great swing mechanics, good ball physics and some great features (real time weather, many options, very good multiplayer interface). 20 years ago that might have been enough. In the year 2018 JNPG cannot expect great sales.
But that's the reason we need PG2!!

@bgast1-I also was terrible to start. Now after many, many hours I am less terrible.I can at least play a tournament at Pro level and not finish last-something I never thought possible when I started.
As for the unfinished part I"ll leave that to others-there are things I wish were different but I just play the game as it is-Tyler

Bgast1 - A lot of the folks here migrated over from LINKS2003 to follow Andrew and Mike in their efforts to create a better golf experience (physics, graphics, and features). At a minimum, I'd like some of the same features we used to have - custom pins & tees, animation editing, and a career mode (even the beginnings of one).

They have not said that.
It just won't be in TGC 2019.
The devs at TGC have indicated that they will never put in 3 click, he is correct.
I remember having a long posting back and forth from the main dev (cannot remember his name) at TGC about putting in 3 click. He was very adamant that it would never be installed. Funny how he also thought it was the thing that made the game more realistic in his eyes. The only problem is the game sucks in every other aspect as well. lol

Bgast1,
If you want some recorded rounds to practice against go to the Recorded Rounds stickied post (above). Go to page 1 for the login username and password. Recorded rounds (~500) are stored in folders by Real/Fictional, then by country, then region. There is a file naming system that relates to the final score: HGH = scores over +4 to par; MED = +4 to -4 scores; and LOW is scores under -4 to par.
Try some of Armand's or Stone Comet's rounds first.

As a lurker at OGT, I can certainly confirm that it's active. And since I just ordered a SkyTrak I hope it's going to grow by 1 soon (if I can find a way to play at all with AlmostGolf, Qolf, Callaway HX, or some other non-window shattering option).
If Mike, Andrew, or anyone is reading this, I'd like to suggest once again to negotiate support for a low-end sim, especially R-Motion. I've been using that for about 2 months, struggling along with TGC, and wishing, wishing, wishing there would be JNPG support. I know that corporate bedfellows make that unlikely if not impossible, but it would seem like it would open up a market for people who would like a "sorta real golf" simulator experience without a 4 and 5 figure outlay.
I also think more needs to be done to sell the realism of the JNPG courses, either the official ones or the community ones. A course referenced to LIDAR data and satellite imagery is going to be almost infinitely better than the crap that TGC's designer will produce. I've tried and tried to make that thing behave and it's just too much work. The fact that I could do my home course in Unity/JNPG and get perfect elevations without ever using a terrain tool is pretty freakin' awesome. I don't think enough is done to sell this point. TGC wants to sell its 170,000+ CRAP courses. Sure, there are good ones, but are there really that many more good ones? TGC has confirmed no heightmaps in TGC 2019, so still stuck with unrealistic elevations.
While I've not been active on these forums until recently, I've owned JNPG almost since commercial release. I'll admit I put it down pretty quickly because it crashed my systems. When I picked it back up this last summer, I got on board with "best golf game ever made" (and I've played nearly all of them over the years, going back to Mean18). It really needs to continue for both sim and non-sim.

I don't think you are going to be happy with the results you get from something like the AlmostGolf foam balls. The distance loss and spin loss are significant. Unfortunately the program doesn't offer a way to allow you to adjust for it.
